Have heard that Bradford are signing Andy Smith, was hoping we might have been in for him.

I've not heard that one and never heard of him tbh, is he any good? A quick Google search says he's a defender. It's probably the only position we need, so it doesn't sound farfetched.

We’ve been linked with that Cousens as well, along with pretty much every local EFL team. Think Ilkeston are trying to get a bidding war going.
His agent has a few current Chesterfield players on his books so you know where he is going

I've learnt that if we are publicly linked to a player they ain't coming to Meadow Lane. Over 90% of our confirmed transfers are a complete surprise to the fanbase. The club really don't do rumours. They keep very quiet and then announce the signing.

They keep it simple.

He was excellent in the NL but understand he struggled at Cheltenham in L1 (?)

I would have thought that Bradford were looking for signings who can perform in L1, unless they are going for a short term loan??

James Berry off to Wycombe by the sounds of it. Absolutely no idea on the fee, but losing Berry and Markanday in a week isn't ideal. Probably need to bring at least one winger in now

We've announced some left back called Jack Sparkes. He's been operating in League One but other than that I know nothing about him

Played against us for Portsmouth last year in the FA cup and I thought he looked very good that day. Played 38 league games for Pompey as they won League 1 last season, and Peterborough paid a fee for him this summer & gave him a 3 year deal so obviously highly thought of at the time. Has started 18 of their games this season so far but seems to have fell out of favour recently.

As has been said, having Lewis Gordon & Harvey Araujo out long term meant signing a left back was a priority as we only had Brandon Horton fit & available. Happy with this.

Well Blackpool apparently made two bids which were both rejected & Wycombe have ‘outbid’ them for this one to be agreed so I’m assuming it’s going to be a significant fee.

If we’re being honest, I think we’re benefitting from him hitting a real purple patch at this beginning of this season where everything he was hitting seemed to go in. In recent times, he’s looked more like the Berry of last season that can only perform to a high level in short spells during games before then going missing.

With his age though and talent, there is big potential there. If he can work on his off the ball stuff, he will go on to have a very good career as he has some serious talent. Has scored some absolute crackers for us & was part of the team that got us back to the EFL so will always be grateful to him & wish him well.

Carlisle and Bromley have both had bids turned down for Barnet’s Idris Kanu.

It's a lot of talent to lose in one window. We definitely need to bring a winger in if/when Berry goes, ideally one who knows where the net is.

I personally think that’s a great deal for us. My big question is how much of a sell on fee are Macclesfield due though? Cos I heard it was a significant one.

Regardless, £400k upfront is very good business for a winger that’s not necessarily first choice here.

Yeah he's a decent L2 defender, was excellent in our promotion season in 21/22 as Cloudy says and then didn't look out of place in L2 the following season. It's been a while since we had him though, so no idea if that's still the case. Good with his feet, relatively quick, strong, pretty solid all round really. Would benefit from being next to experience I think. Surprised he's not really kicked on anywhere else but I guess he's been hoping for a shot at Hull.
