For those who don't know there is always a league predictor on the Grimsby Forum.

https://thefishy.co.uk/calculator0.php?Competition=3

On reflection, I probably should have given a few more wins down the bottom end of the table as teams always pick up at the end.

Ignore GD as well as I left GD the same to what it is now

Used a different one after the weekend's results. Similarly look to have way underestimated the teams at the bottom meaning its probably less accurate the further down you look.

1) Barnsley 97
2) Luton 95
---------------------------------------
3) Sunderland 92
4) Charlton 88
5) Portsmouth 86
6) Doncaster 77
----------------------------------------
7) Peterborough 74
8) Blackpool 74
9) Plymouth 69
10) Coventry 66
11) Scunthorpe 60
12) Burton 57
13) Southend 56
14) Wycombe 56
15) Fleetwood 55
16) Rochdale 53
17) Bradford 52
18) Walsall 50
19) Oxford 48
20) Shrewsbury 48
----------------------------------------
21) Accrington 43
22) Bristol Rovers 42
23) AFC Wimbledon 39
24) Gillingham 38

Both of you expect Barnsley to get 35 points from the last 15 games. Have they shown any signs of getting points at that rate up until now?

Well they just picked up 15/15.

They've also played 31 games, with 62 points. Thats 2 points per game.

Are you asking us if we think they can make 2.3 points per game when they're the most in form team in the league?

Yeah, I think it's actually more than realistic.

Hmmmm. You sure Gassy?
Why don't you think they wouldn't?

H vs Wycombe
H vs Burton
A Vs Pompey
A Vs Southend
H Vs Accy
H Vs Sunderland
A Vs Barnsley
A Vs Doncaster
A Vs Walsall
H Vs Coventry
A Vs Burton
H Vs Fleetwood
H Vs Shrewsbury
A Vs Plymouth
H Vs Blackpool
A Vs Rovers

I can easily see them winning all their home games. Thats 24 points already. Even if they draw against Sunderland that'd be 22 points.

They'd then need 13 points from 8 away games.

I was more about 15 from 15 points in last games and most in form team - but it's splitting hairs that they drew one in the middle. They could 100% do it. They are a great side and tore us part early in the season.

I'm just overjoyed and a little surprised, considering our respective positions last season, that we're giving them a decent run for their money - up to this point .

I think we’ll come unstuck at Barnsley away.

Yet by the same logic you expect us to be overtaken? Not saying we won’t, but considering we’ve not lost since we played Barnsley in early October...
They won’t win all of their remaining home games. No one will.

Yep, massive credit - especially after losing Jones.

Also did they draw one? At the time I just quickly googled league 1 form table and Barnsley were top with 5 wins from 5...

I think we’ll come unstuck at Barnsley away.
Fair shout, should take a good away following though

Kenneth, relax mate. It’s not like I typed into the calculator ‘make sure Luton don’t win the league’. I just pressed win/draw/loss for everyone’s games and that’s what ended up.

The fact that 2 of us even seemed to weirdly get the same points total potentially shows their more favourable set of fixtures.

What ends up always happening on these things anyway is the top teams don’t get as many points and the relegation zone gets more than predicted.

You know how it goes, top teams will always stutter while all the bottom suddenly realize if they don’t pick up their game they’ll go down.

Have a go yourself and see what you get.

There is no way 4 teams will get 90 points. When has that ever happened anywhere?

Our first season we got 111 points from 46 games in the Combined Counties League. And came 3rd, missing out on promotion.

Yeah I did think I'd been a touch harsh on you! Got some tricky games left, but some winnable ones thrown in - have another 6 or 7 points :cool1:

Tbf I think we have the toughest run in out of the bottom 7/8. Although it might be a bit better now that we've got Pompey, Sunderland & Peterborough out of the way in our last 4 games.
