People will be just as excited then - it's the only thing Cheltenham fans can get excited about at the moment.

£20 tickets for this too, they might aswell Just open the upper tier of the Ian Greaves!
We have beat Accy in the cup before, but yeah will probably lose.

Who can he rest? Can’t really do much with the defence or striking positions if we wants to take the cup remotely interesting. We only have strength in depth in midfield currently.

Bradford at home for us. Hopefully Yates uses this game to come up with a slightly more competent team than the one that played on Saturday. Hopefully a strong team but with Lowe, Lloyd and Vincenti included this time. Would also like to see Wilson start.

Fleetwood at home for us. I'd much prefer 3 points next weekend so not that fussed. It's only £12 a ticket and I'm still struggling to find the motivation to go.

If Fleetwood make changes we might have a chance. Also seen there is no extra time this year, straight to pens.

Grimes, Maycock and Rose will hopefully be the first ones dropped.

I'd do Grimes, Maycock, Rose, Marsh, Arthur out; Lowe, Evans, Lloyd, Vincenti, Napa in. 4-2-3-1.

Happily also try Blissett or Wilson alongside Smith in a 4-4-2.

Yeah looks much better that. I'm getting the feeling that Yates is pretty fixed on having two up front so your second option is probably the more likely.

Disappointing to think that we are down to the bare bones, depending on barely fit returnees and kids to play with injured players required to fill the bench, after 2 league matches.

I gather Newport have similar injury problems so this League Cup path to money spinning opportunities is probably an unwelcome distraction to both teams.

We managed to extract 3 points from serial fall guys Notts County with a second choice keeper, 44 yr old Kev Pilkington as back up on the bench, a young CB making his 2nd League start and at least 3 players that didn't have 90 minutes in their legs plus Barry Corr who can do < 30 minutes from the bench.

From Saturday's absentees, Forde should be available post-concussion but I'd keep Mitov in to build experience and confidence. O'Neil should be fit enough to come back. With another tough Sat/Tues coming up, I can't see Taylor, Dunk or Osadebe returning too quickly but may be neeeded for the bench. Lewis and Brown may have 60 minutes in them and young Harry Darling went off knackered and with cramp. I think I might consider giving George Maris, Reggie Lambe, Halliday and Jabo a rest

Mitov
Davies, John, Taft, Carroll
Deegan O'Neill
Amoo, Brown, Knowles
Azeez

Subs: Forde, Halliday, Darling, Lambe, Lewis/Osadebe, Maris, Ibehre/Corr

.....or should we go for it early, with our best available 11, and only give Halliday, Maris or Lambe and Ibehre a rest when (if, against a bogey team) we're 3 - 0 up against reluctant travellers as we build momentum into the season?

I want my best 11 available and fit for Sixfields on Saturday.

The Habbin will be open but I can't see it being very full. There won't be much motivation for a big travelling support (but my "only Exile in the village" neighbour, Paul, will probably be there). Maybe 2,170 to see a scrappy 3-1, hopefully to the U's but could easily be either way. No extra time please.

Edit: Straight to pens after 90 minutes this season :brill:

First trip to the Abbey for me plus first game of the season so looking forward to it.
Expect we’ll make changes from Saturday. 3 or 4 are out injured and might be a debut for new sub keeper. Likely we will also debut our 3rd kit which is awful in my view but has won an award (by god knows who) for best shirt design.
Hope we can get a result, Cup run wonga is vital. 2-1 to Newport.

We've got Preston away. 20 minutes down the road and it sounds like no one can be arsed going. Sorry state of affairs when we have taken big followings (for us) the last 2 times.

We'll get tanked by their reserves and have the pleasure of watching Vadaine up top on his tod again. 8 games without scoring.

At least Jagne may get a game, the lad's got a bright future if he gets a chance.

We have Charlton. Tickets are £12, £5 for under 18's and £1 for under 12's so not too bad. I'll probably go aithough the enthusiasm is underwhelming.

I'm on holiday in Cornwall at the minute and I'm undecided on whether or not to drive the 400 miles home to watch the tie of the round Grimsby v Rochdale before driving back, what would you guys suggest?

Seems this cup is (has) gone the way of the Football Trophy. Even lower league clubs can’t be bothered with it...

I have an idea, let’s allow the FA to put U23 sides in it, that would fix it.

Highlights on Quest. Pretty sure Quest is owned by the BBC and they put the Football League show on there in crappy SD so that MOTD looks amazing in HD when you turn over.

There is Quest HD on my freesat so I presume it's on the other platforms as well.

What is Freesat, I saw they said they had HD on there? I just have a smart TV with the standard channels. I re-scanned it on Saturday but no Quest HD.

Freesat is what you get when you can't afford sky anymore and you have a dish on your wall. Basically it's the same as freeview (maybe a few more channels) but though a satellite rather than an ariel.

Anyway, retune your box as Quest HD launches on freeview today. (14th)

We've got Wycombe away. Not going, contemplated it if only to pay homage to one of our best strikers ever, Adebayo Akinfenwa

Cambridge v Newport isn’t the most inspiring fixture for either side I imagine but it’s a great opportunity for both sides to get through and the money would be so helpful for either. I’m not going and I imagine the attendance will be poor but it could be a decent game.

I've already watched FGR fluke their way to a win once already this season so I've no desire to see them again.

Fluke? That was no fluke pal, the reason your lot forgot which way they were shooting was because they shit themselves about coming up against a team of such awesomeness. It's a bit like Man U during the Fergie years, teams are already mentally beaten by us before they get on the pitch. Just one look accross the tunnel at the likes of Gav Gunning, Lloyd James and Dayle Grubb is enough to strike FEAR into most teams.

It did kick start our season last year. We played a lot better after taking on Scunny.

We will put out a changed team. Expect it will be a big loss. Boro are one of the best teams in it
