For anyone who likes a bet, put your money on Newport to beat Wolves. We lose in the first round every year.

I think Chesterfield (H) is a very winnable game, though they beat Barnsley 3-1 yesterday so it'll be tough. They've got rid of most their best players from last season, although they have brought in some decent replacements.

I'll predict a 2-1 home win: Wyke and Rigg.

Not really interested in this competition at all this year, I hope/expect that we'll play a complete reserve team as we've got a huge game on Friday night.

So it's this time of year again when AFC Wimbledon (and Dagenham) play in a competition , just to make up the numbers.
You'd have thought they'd have fixed the draw so we played each other, just so that one of our clubs can say
"So, there is a 2nd round to this competition".
I still don't think such a thing exists.

8 attempts at winning a first round game, 8 failures. I expect it to be 9 for 9 by the end of Tuesday.

I think thats the case for most League 2 sides a 1st round exit but I do remember beating Huddersfield and got Pompey when they was actually good.

We are away to sheff weds

Normally we would take a fair amount and give it a go - but with county on Friday - and having sold 2000 already (or very close) for that I hope we play a reserve side.

My pennies are being saved for beer on friday.

Btw, why do they insist on seeding it? They don't in the FA cup so why should they here?

Or if they insist on it being seeded - the unseeded side should be at home

Fancied our chances away to Rotherham before yesterday and do even more so now having seen us and some of the cataclysmic defending Rotherham showed yesterday, suspect we will rotate the team a little bit although that won't necessarily make us weaker. Wouldn't be opposed to a bit of a League Cup run, as long as we drop out of the JPT in the first round, can deal with one or the other but not both.

New ground and a chance to have a few bevvies in my old university drinking holes in Sheffield, looking forward to it.

Home to Fulham, no shame if we get beat.

Not sure why Orient aren't bothering with the League Cup this season. I think we might have a bye to round two, or just haven't entered this year. Certainly aren't playing a fixture on Tuesday.

I had the mixed blessing of a seat on the halfway line at the New York Stadium for Millers v Bradford when our FA Cup match at Bury was postponed a couple of seasons back - great view but obnoxious sight of Fatty and Mouthy in their pomp. I'm looking forward to generating an atmosphere in the away end but hope South Yorkshire's finest are a bit more relaxed about their visitors than they were for that derby.

First of 3 mouth watering away matches, I'll continue north to Cumbria afterwards to take in some time with dad, quality beers and, hopefully, a visit to Brampton's famous Bee-eaters.

Meanwhile, hoping for a win but happy with another decent settling in performance. Extra time would be unwelcome but I'll take it if we win. Head says Rotherham 2 - 1 but I think we'll be up for it and in with a chance. We took over 1,000 to Birmingham this time last year and should manage those sort of numbers again.

Interesting range of prices for we wrinklies at the next 3 matches:

Rotherham - £8 decent seated stand (OK seat not used) behind goal - admittedly league Cup price.
Carlisle - £16 decent seated view but near corner flag and miles from pitch
Wimbledon - £10 rubbish terrace view

I accept that I'd probably prefer all 3 to our South Stand for (is it?) £17 until we move the pitch back south.

Good of you to keep up the "ignore the franchise" approach. More power to you sir

Be surprised if we take anywhere close to 1,000, no "back in the league" buzz, bit further away and not as big a team, be more like 500 I'd have thought.

Not sure why some on here representing L2 clubs are saying that they should be ignoring the League Cup - you're one win away from possibly playing a Premier League club. Money to be made.

Luton v Bristol City should be a decent game - not sure what team the Championship side will pick, but I think both teams will rotate in any case. We have the ability to rotate our side without it being that much weaker.

We generally do well in this competition, had a lot of upsets over the years, most notably Liverpool at Anfield. Blackpool are a different proposition from last years rag tag mob but we're at home so hopefully that should give us a chance.

We got through the first round for the past 8 years in a row - 3 of those winning on penalties.

Can't see us getting past MK this year though, I'll just be happy not to concede 6 there again like we did in April.

Hope we win 1-0 in last minute and there's another pitch invasion, just to annoy everyone else.

Home to Fulham, no shame if we get beat.

it's a very "meh" fixture, not glamorous enough to mean that a big gate is likely (we've played Fulham a few times in recent seasons anyway), but against players who are good enough to knock us out easily.

Still, we've got a chance, especially if Fulham put out the kids. A cup run would do far more for our beleaguered coffers than our playoff campaign did, so I'm all for it if we can manage to scrape through.

I have no hopes of an upset. All I hope is that we can be competitive. Ardley needs to get over his latest fascination with a 343 formation (come on! why would you?!). Looking forward to a new ground and a night out in cardiff.

We might even see Mike Edwards and Hollis central partnership. Quicker we are out of this the better. We just have no incentive in this with the game Friday. I think the Trews would rather a run in the JPT

I believe we're essentially playing our kids. Expect us to be slaughtered. 5-0 MK Dons.
I don't think our squad will stretch that far right now!

Ollie Palmer and Alan Dunne will probably play but we don't have many options right now!

Chesterfield at home. Tough game but it's the cup so hopefully we just go all out and have a good go and if we lose we lose.

I'm looking forward to are game with Peterborough.Im also looking forward to are game against you, will be good to see a packed away end, if not a home one.
Are home atmosphere isn't the best, just like are team this year.
If we can get a result at London Road then I fancy us to go on a little run in this competition, particularly if we can get a home draw next.I wouldn't mind who are next opponents are.
