Tuesday 23rd August
Blackburn v Crewe
Crystal Palace v Blackpool
Derby v Carlisle
Everton v Yeovil
Exeter
v Hull
Luton v Leeds
Newcastle v Cheltenham
Stevenage
v Stoke
Wolves v Cambridge

Wednesday 24th August
Accrington v Burnley
Morecambe v Bournemouth

So 11 League Two sides are in the second round, hopefully a couple progress further. Luton definitely have a chance against Leeds.

We're up against Derby who struggled past Grimsby in Round One, though they've obviously got a very good side and will fancy themselves at home. I think we could cause an upset but we'll need some luck, looking forward to it either way.

I'd almost be disappointed if we lose to Blackburn tomorrow. They are a shambles at the moment, on and off the field. Think we've got a great chance of causing an upset. Although I wouldn't be too bothered if we lost.

Fully expect us to lose which is fine but we need to put up a fight and give us something to be encouraged about.

I'm heading to the Derby v Carlisle game. Working near Derby and it's a new ground and means I won't be tempted to do it when we visit to play Derby u12s in the checkatrade pot.

Home or away end?

We've sold around 450 with pay on the day available.

I think we have a more than decent chance against Leeds - a team that is in utter turmoil at the moment. However, inevitably we're going to work our absolute bollocks off and knacker themselves for Cambridge on Saturday. At least we have an extra day's rest.

Dirty Leeds have only won 3 matches out of 21 at Kenilworth Road in their history.

Not sure. Not gave it any thought. If I can get in the away end might do that!
You've got to go in the away end and experience the best fans in the world (until we concede)

The players and fans who are going get a nice trip to Newcastle.

We've never been past the second round of this comp and it's not going to happen this season.

Think we will get thumped by Burnley who will be pressured into beating little Accrington. They would never live it down if they didn't. Just hoping we can score first and frighten em for at least half hour.

Hope we rest a couple tonight actually, perhaps give Vassell a go up front would be the main one id be looking at. Marriott hasn't looked as sharp recently and could do with a break.

We looked sluggish after the villa game and whilst we do have a day's extra rest after this one id rather win the Cambridge game. Still winnings a habit and all that.

Should be a good crowd and a good atmosphere, do like a cup tie at the Kenny.

nope..disagree....shouldn't change a team that's not losing.....keep the same starting eleven...got to encourage a team spirit and all that comes from the confidence that should follow.
lets go into the more important game against Cambridge on a positive high......as long as we avoid a spanking!!

Living near Derby a lot of their fans think they'll play a number of squad players tonight so that they have a strong team available for Friday night - they're terrified about losing at Burton :gr:

Apparently Everton are going to field a strong team tonight, I'm not expecting to get anything from the game but hopefully a strong performance to get some confidence back. Oh and Matty Dolan says he's going to put Liam Walsh in his bag and sneak him back to Huish Park :2thumb:

On paper their squad players should still beat us easily, and we might rest a few ourselves. I'm pretty sure Jabo won't be playing.

Home to Hull. Suspect we'll lose this one quite comfortably. We've got a lot of injuries and don't think Tis will want to risk players who aren't fully fit. Sounds as if Hull are bringing down a strong team as well.

Best of luck to all the League 2 sides. Reckon Luton, Carlisle, Cambridge and Crewe will fancy their chances at progressing to the 3rd Round.

We'll hopefully give a good account of ourselves in front of those once or twice a year fans that will come because it's a PL team and the tickets are discounted. If the team show as much spirit as they did v Blackpool & Portsmouth then they might just have another look v Leyton Orient on the 3rd Sept meaning a bit more revenue and adding to the atmosphere.

Heart thinks we might be able to keep it tight and it might be one goal either way. Head says we'll give it a good go before the PL class comes through and we start looking towards Accy on Saturday which is way more important.

I'll be very very surprised if we beat Wolves the way we're playing presently.

But yeah, I'm with you re. Luton, Carlisle and Crewe. I also fancy Morecambe and Cheltenham to do well, even though the latter are away at Newcastle.

Have to agree. We've put out our best available side (with a bit of a defensive bias) and are giving it a go but I can't see anything but a defeat - and inside 90 minutes. At least they're not starting Borthwick-Jackson.

It will be a novelty to be listening to Jonners and Doug again tonight. It's been a long time.

We've gone with wing backs against Derby, because why not? Been a while since mysterious Curle showed his face.

Disappointing for us... sounds like we dominated for most of the match, though only created a couple of really good opportunities, Derby score off a rebound against the run of play and then the best defensive team in the league shut up shop, and we lose our best player on the night, Nicky Adams to a knock and it's over as a contest from then on in*

*Unless we score in the next couple of minutes.

Ourselves and Crewe still dreaming of causing an upset in extra-time, both courtesy of last-minute equalisers (Blackburn having thought they'd scored a late winner).

Sadly the rest of the division's representatives went out in 90 minutes, though Luton and Cambridge to creditable scorelines, possibly Cheltenham too given where they are Newcastle were last season.

Really should have won the game to be honest. Marriott will be very disappointed in himself, missed 2 superb chances, one an open goal.

Leeds scored a very good well worked goal and after that and one other attack where they hit the bar, pretty much sat back. Early second half we struggled to break them down for a while but eventually started breaking them down and creating opportunities. The best of which Marriott missed as I say.

Played well, McGeehan and Smith the picks of the bunch for me, shocked to see Smith put in some
really good passes which isn't his strong suit by any means, but really need to start taking our chances.

Here we go, penalties it is. Usually feel confident going into these but not so much right now.

A case of what might have been tonight - as has been touched on above, we had two absolutely superb chances which Marriott failed to hit the target from both. That said, I felt that Leeds never really had to get out of second gear tonight, and if they had to, they would've stepped it up. They were an efficient side - quite strange for a team two divisions above to sit back (and be happy to sit back) and play on the break; a small moral victory for us perhaps.
