Do enjoy this comment from a fella who's watched a season of Cloughball.

We've had 2 promotions on the bounce and you've had one in the last 10 years. I know which style I'd rather watch.

Reckon Mansfield will get a decent humbling next year.

Ey it’s been successful so far for you no doubt as it should be considering the money spent, no reason to get pissy pants about it you delicate little soul.

I’ll take anything above relegation to be honest regarding Mansfield, very little change to the squad so I suppose if we get relegated that’s a humbling? Chief delicate little orchid

How much has Radford ploughed into Mansfield over the last decade? Mansfield should probably be a little more successful than they have been.
Lets not pretend Mansfield haven't been heavily bankrolled over the last ten years.

Tough old league this year. Much harder to predict than usual IMHO, as you can make a case for a host of clubs to be in the top 6 and about 10’to be in the bottom 4. Burton are a complete wildcard as well; it’s either going to go terrifically right or horribly, horribly wrong.

1. Birmingham
2. Rotherham
3. Barnsley
4. Huddersfield
5. Peterborough
6. Wigan
7. Charlton
8. Bolton
9. Lincoln
10. Bristol Rovers
11. Blackpool
12. Wycombe
13. Exeter
14. Stockport
15. Orient
16. Wrexham
17. Northampton
18. Stevenage
19. Reading
20. Cambridge
21. Mansfield
22. Burton
23. Crawley
24. Shrewsbury

Not sure how Northamptons summer has gone, but I’d be very surprised to see them relegated. They were one of the surprise packages in the end, not for just their position, but the football they played.
Lost their best players who were loans and their best CB Sherring. Not sure they’ve been replaced as yet and the old second season syndrome to hit is my reasoning.

Cant see us anywhere near the relegation zone ,more likely to be a comfortable mid table team ,i havent really paid much attention to other clubs signings tbh ,but with clough in charge we will be fine evolution not revolution

Who’s pretending that? We fully went in the GOING FOR IT™️ 4/5 years back and it did not work at all, but yeah we’ve been very fortunate to be owned by someone who’s put a lot of money in the playing squad and facilities, any funds from the owners at the moment are going in the stadium not the squad. We undoubtedly should have been promoted and established in L1 by now, so no pretending here, just a unnecessary post.

I don’t get the backlash from disagreeing with the original post, I rated Stockport and Mansfield a bit more than Wrexham last season, although at the same time I agree with Stocky that very little between us all.

Obviously you were very effective and back to back promotions is a great achievement, despite the fact you’ve been running with a top end L1 budget for the last three years.

Who have Wrexham signed which will improve them on last season?

From the outside they have an aging squad and super star striker who’s not proven at league one level but labelled the messiah (Mullin).

Yeah thats a fair assessment. Not overly impressed with our business to date. I think Tom Eaves will be a really effective signing for us but we still desperately need reinforcements further up the pitch and out wide. Probably need another CB also. Hoping that our last few signings are slightly more flashy but I think we are relying on Jon Brady's so far very good managerial record to keep us above the drop zone this season.

Okwonkwo, keeper from Arsenal signed permanently. (23 yo)
Brunt - defender from Leicester permanently (23 yo)
Dobson - midfielder from Charlton (26 yo)
Revan - left wing back from Villa permanently (21 yo)

This perception of our aging squad is quite frankly laughable. We have McClean, Fletcher and Palmer over the age of 30 for our outfield players. McClean is arguably the fittest player in the division.

Wouldn't at all be surprised to see us splash the cash on a new forward though.

As things stand, according to https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/afc-wrexham/startseite/verein/1112 our average age is 26.

Dobson is a good signing but based on those transfers and your current squad I don’t see you in the top 7.

Like I said, from the outside from someone who doesn’t know much about you they were my thoughts which could be totally wrong.

I’ve seen your keeper play once and he looked like he’d won a competition and I’m not familiar with the other two from villa and Leicester.

Can't see us getting top 7, but maybe with a bit of luck you never know. I think bottom of the top half is a reasonable expectation. The centre half Brunt played last season for Mansfield, and the left back Revan played for Rotherham last season in the championship. If you are basing the keeper off the Blackburn game, then I would also agree as he was absolutely shite, but then again, he was in recovery of a broken jaw.

It’s great that we are widely tipped to go down. Hopefully we can go under the radar a bit.
New manager, 17 new players, old ones gone, new backroom staff, new owners.
We are somewhat of an unknown quantity.

If you make top 10 that’s a fantastic season.

Mullin not guaranteed to score goals at this level and I believe he’s injured at the start of the season.

I can’t see Palmer and Fletcher scoring at this level.

Brunt will become Wrexham best defender and probably be sold in two years to a Championship side. I think they have recruited well and will continue to do so but agree mid-table is most likely this season.

I’m shocked to still see Palmer at Wrexham, thought he may have moved on to a L2 side.

Cloughball been immense too, even in the two seasons we fell short we scored more goals than anyone. Entertainment, crowds have gone up before any success for a reason.

Our strikers are definitely where we are weakest. Mullin should be fine at this level (although will be unlikely to be getting the numbers he has done) Marriott is fine. Fletcher will be OK for short bursts but beyond that the rest need moving on and upgrading. Rumours are we are going to be bringing in one or two new players in this position before the window closes.

Midtable would be absolutely fine and imo would be a good season. That said beyond the top four or five teams I don't see too much to worry about. Some very mediocre players being signed this summer.

That last paragraph could well come back and bite me.

And some. I don't see Rotherham out of the top 7.

I'd be fine with what they've predicted for us. Avoiding a relegation scrap in our first season is a solid year in my view, then push on from there. Anything more is a bonus.

Some concerns in there regarding Mansfield I agree with, our first choice RB only playing 138 minutes last season and potentially still relying on Bowery, a striker to fill in defence will not be good enough with the step up. I’m worried about both full back positions and think Brunt needs replacing at CB too.

We do still have business to do but I’m concerned it’s just going to be forward areas, a defensive player that will improve our starting eleven is essential imo.

Worth noting he thought we were old and past it last season and predicted us outside the play offs mind.

Everyone's squad is ageing. It's how time works.

Signing Fletcher was a mistake, he's already injured, and I agree about Palmer.

We have a a fair few strikers without having any that stand out as the clear option alongside Mullin.

Leonard was our best player indeed and Sherring was a good centre half but Guthrie staying is the big one really. I am slightly worried and I think we’ll be down there. The only ace in the pack for me is Jon Brady, for 3 seasons now he’s proved himself to be a cracking manager and consistently gets the best out of the squads he’s had. Hope he can do it again.
