The bottom tier was split in half when we played Watford in the PL.

However in recent years the SY Police have become really nervous regards potential trouble and are now ultra cautious at both Sheffield clubs. Both clubs have severely reduced capacity due to large amounts of netting over seats. Also you can bet the Police will bring the steel wall out, they'll be helicopters flying above, road access pedestrian restrictions etc etc.
Understood, pity that,we'd sold 1500 by saturday so with a week to go, I don't think it was too fair to make a reduced decision, and with our financial worries, there was no way the club were pay for the full allocation. athing is, rang up your club after the annoucement, and they said they were selling tickets for Bramall lane lower, so a sheffield bolton fan is going down getting us some

Is there another protest organised to justify the attendance?

Not too sure. Some fans are adamant they are protesting. Others are saying the complete opposite and don't want to have the day ruined.

11,000 sold in 3 hours. Hundreds being turned away from the ticket office.

All aboard the bandwagon...

We took just under 35,000 last year. Do you think you'll beat it?

If we beat Luton next Wednesday I don't think we'll take quite so many this year, it will be interesting to see though.

Bolton got 2200 tickets thought top tier held 3000 so cant they have the remaing 800 tickets for the top tier so everybody is cateered for then as 3000 if probably enough for them considering 2500 went bradford.

There will be some who protest. I wouldn't be surprised to see some enter the pitch, but the protests won't be like the recent ones.

The top tier DOES hold 3,000 but it joins on to the corner stand and South Yorkshire Police insist that 800 seats in that stand are covered with netting to ensure the home and away fans are kept well apart.

The bottom tier also holds 3,000 but that also has a reduced capacity to 2,200, again the SYP insist that 800 seats are covered with netting in the bottom tier too, 400 at one end and 400 at the other end.

We are also forced to putting netting over about 400 seats in the South stand bottom tier and about 100 seats are netted off in the John St family stand.

So the official capacity of 32,700 is now reduced to about 30,000.

On Saturday the gate was 27,980 with all home areas sold out apart from a few 100 in the family stand as no adults are allowed without taking a kid. Some Blades complained they couldn't get tickets as we wasted the bottom tier with Scunthorpe taking 650 tickets of their 2,200 allocation there.

Looks like there is only around 1k tickets available on the lower tier. The police get more embarrassing by the day.

Barnsley only had 20k didn't they?

We had 42,500 there last time and Walsall had a very impressive 30k, but if we come down and make the JPT final again I doubt we'd go beyond 35k this time. It's boring.

Sheff, if we require the away end in its entirety, is this something you will offer given the demand from your fans, also?

Gonna be manic trying to get a ticket if the allocation is just 2,200. I believe we have 2,000 loyality fans who would take first dibs.

If we are still top then 2200 will be your lot I'd imagine.

Agree with Blademan,

Normally we offer 2,200 in the top tier and when they sell out we then consider whether to offer an extra 2,200 in the lower tier.

However if SU believe they can fill the stadium with their own fans then naturally the bottom tier will be given to home fans only.

The Sheff U v Bradford is the 2nd last home match of the season and falls at Easter, so if we have a genuine chance of top 2 then they'll be a 30K demand from home fans, meaning 2,200 in the upper tier will be your lot.

Your only ray of hope is that the SY Police make strange decisions seemingly lacking obvious logic. They may decide that they don't want home and away fans milling around together outside the away end, so the Police might insist you have the whole end with 4,400 seats as it's easier to control potential trouble. Then they'll have their steel walls up and cut the whole road off at the away end on Bramall Lane making it a "no go" zone for home supporters.

How come we more than 2.2k from Sheff United but Bolton can't and Bradford probably won't?

League regulations stipulate that you have to provide 10% of capacity to away fans, so I'm not sure you'll get away with that?

We used to give more, but it pissed off home fans so we now restrict it to somewhere between 10% and 15% of capacity.

10% or 2k if your ground is bigger than 20k. So in our case most we have to give is 2k. In your case you only have to give 10% which is around 1k ain't it?

I'm pretty sure it's 10% regardless of capacity in the Football League. Premier League has a cap though, so you may be thinking of that.

Our capacity is 12,500 so you'll get about 1,400 as that's over 10% and is a natural boundary in the stand. Although as its Wilder's return we might make a special exception for you and give half of that ;-)

Rochdale vs Vale next Tuesday has been reduced to £1 per ticket, still a rip off going on our performances this season.

It's definitely 2k cap mate, in the league above that's all you get at forest and huddersfield for example. The cap in the prem is 3k if your ground is a 30k plus and 10% if less. We've only given bolton 2. 2k on Saturday as that's all required. We've got 1200 at your place.

Well you learn something every day!

Interesting you've only got 1,200 at ours as that is the absolute minimum we give anybody and I think the only people this season we've given that amount to is Swindon, but that's because we don't like them and we pushed the netting back to open up more tickets to home fans and sold out in 48 hours.

Maybe it is the Wilder factor, he's not liked by us, as you know. I was only joking about it earlier, but he pulled a couple of stunts with our local media after the game up at your place, so who knows?

Great offer by Dale and should see a very good following from us which hopefully will help the boys. If only we had a chairman with this vision. The 1994 promotion deal that great night in the promotion season against Burton was immense (£8) atmosphere wise with Vale Park packed again and a 7-1 blitzing was the reward that had us on the cusp on promotion. Since that we've done bugged all bar £30 to watch Oldham and Crawley both beat us.
