Great results for us tonight and should mean we've done enough (although won't take that for granted just yet). Orient loss on Saturday and County and Col United fail to win and we are safe (barring getting battered).

Big games this weekend. I have the feeling the final day could still see 5 teams battling to avoid 3 drop places. Could be "interesting" if ourselves and Coventry only need a point to stay up!

Oh well, at least we'll have the best striker in League Two next season.

I'm not hanging out the bunting yet but tonight's results make the table a little less daunting. Like my compatriot, I'm wondering how it would pan out f ourselves and Coventry need a draw to guarantee safety on the final day. I would hope that there's enough respect for the game to at least appear to be trying.
Still, we've got to go to Peterborough first and try to get something there.

Crawley are one of the worst sides I've seen in my life, if they stay up it will be incredible and a sad day for all.

There are some sad, bitter people on here?
The table doesn't lie, you end up where you end up on merit.
At least we are now doing things with a sustainable budget....we have no budget.

tbf I'll join in and back these people up, Crawley were the worse side I've seen at the Ricoh this season. IMO Saunders has done an incredible job just giving you a fighting chance, I know it was under unfortunate circumstances but if Gregory hadn't stepped down I think you would be in Yeovils position now.

If we just piss around with the ball to give you lot a point on the last day I'll be pissed off.

We're still quite capable of going down. Looks like there will be a party on here if that happens :)
I suppose the difference between us and some others is that we KNOW that we're crap :)

Don't mind Crawley, they were terrible at their place before Xmas and we put in a shocker at home but they've done well to get where they are. It's ok place to go (probably saying that as we've won both times I've been!) but I would prefer Notts County and Crewe (pains me to say that) to survive and Crawley and Orient to go purely for the central location of the vast majority of the clubs next season at this level. Other than Gills you could end up with pretty much the whole league being centred between Bradford in the North and Wycombe in in the south.

The issue with Crawley isn't actually the football team, it's the lack of fan support home or away, a small ground and the lack of proper 'big match' feel about playing against a team in that situation/support. Isn't your highest following 250 this season? Quite frequently drop below 2,000 home fans etc.

They have bought to us the lowest away followings at Vale Park in something like 40 years two seasons in a row 38 this season and 29 last season which is pretty nuts and it doesn't make for a good atmosphere so you'd rather get a club capable of bringing more but on the flip side it is a bit of a novelty seeing 29 fans milling around our 4500 away end! I think I read some of those small numbers were player relatives too!

40 - Yeovil Town, RELEGATED(44)

Forthcoming fixtures:

16th Scunthorpe(44) - 53 points. Gillingham(H), Doncaster(A)
17th Coventry(44) - 52 points. Crewe(H), Crawley(A)
18th Port Vale(44) - 51 points. Yeovil(A), Fleetwood(H)
19th Crawley(44) - 50 points. Peterborough(A), Coventry(H)
20th Crewe(44) - 49 points. Coventry(A), Bradford(H)

21st Leyton Orient(44) - 47 points. Sheff U(H), Swindon(A)
22nd Notts County(44) - 47 points. Doncaster(H), Gillingham(A)
23rd Colchester(43) - 45 points. Fleetwood(A), Swindon(H), Preston(H)
24th Yeovil(44) - 39 points. Port Vale(H), MK Dons(A)

As you were at the bottom of the table then.

Here are the scenarios that could decide things this weekend for each team:
Colchester ARE DOWN if: They lose and Crewe, Crawley and Port Vale all win.
Notts County and/or Leyton Orient ARE DOWN if: They lose and Crewe, Crawley and Port Vale win OR They draw and Crewe, Crawley and Port Vale win. Only the 3 teams in 18th-20th winning combined with Notts C and/or Orient drawing or worse sees them relegated.

On the flip side:

Crewe ARE SAFE if they win and Leyton Orient and Notts County can only draw, couple with Colchester losing.
Crawley ARE SAFE if they win and Leyton Orient, Notts County and Colchester fail to win.
Port Vale ARE SAFE if they win, regardless of what Leyton Orient and Notts County do and only if Colchester fail to win OR they draw, Leyton Orient, Notts County and Colchester all lose.

Think thats right anyway. So basically, if everything goes one way(it won't), all the relegation spots could be decided this weekend.

I can't believe how many must-win games we keep losing, and yet I can still always look at the table and realistically see a way out of it. It's not fair, why can't you all just put us out of our misery instead of letting me convince myself in the days leading up to each game that we can do it?

I have us down for a 1-0 win against Doncaster and a 1-1 at Gillingham, I can't see that happening now.

We're done. Yesterday was the most important game of the season, and we capitulated. Yeah it was only 1-0, but we didn't have a shot in the last 35 minutes. No way will we get four points from Sheffield United and Swindon.

Our problem is that survival wouldnt really be worth celebrating as such. Staying up would give us another season with dull Davis (okay, he probably wouldn't be sacked either way but at least we'd have hope.) which gives us another season full of complete drivel and a guaranteed third relegation battle.

On the flip side league 2 looks absolutely woeful next year.

Bottom four will stay as is now. All the teams down there are done bar some Crewe melt down.

I just hope our transfer panel doesn't continue to sign absolute shite

I don't think we will win again this season, possibly 2 draws. But the way things are with Orient and Notts it might just be enough.

I'd actually love it if Crawley stayed up - it's the easiest away game to get to in the league.

I can see Crewe finishing on either 51 or 52, and being the team to climb above, which would leave us needing either six or seven points from our last three games due to our better goal difference.

So the final clutching at straws for me now is that Fleetwood on Saturday have nothing to play for, and we then have two home games in a week. Swindon won't go up automatically now so will hopefully be wanting to avoid injury for the play-offs, and then hopefully Preston will already be up (although I don't think they will).

If a win at Fleetwood were to mean we could potentially get away with three points from our final two home games, we'd have a chance. Would really HAVE to win on Saturday though to even make it at all possible to be fair, but I'll cling to that slither of hope...

From a selfish point of view (is there any other?) I would like to see Crawley, Orient and Colchester stay up.

More chance of Walkley Owl being elected mayor of Milton Keynes though I think.
