OK - I'm putting my head on the line here. We are now 1 week from the season starting, so an appropriate time to make some league table predictions for 2024/25.

EFL CHAMPIONSHIP 2024/25
1. Leeds United
2. Burnley
---------------------------------
3. Coventry City
4. Luton Town
5. West Bromwich Albion
6. Middlesbrough
---------------------------------
7. Sunderland
8. Hull City
9. Sheffield United
10. Stoke City
11. Norwich City
12. Queens Park Rangers
---------------------------------
13. Portsmouth
14. Bristol City
15. Sheffield Wednesday
16. Watford
17. Cardiff City
18. Swansea City
19. Derby County
20. Millwall
21. Preston North End
---------------------------------
22. Blackburn Rovers
23. Oxford United
24. Plymouth Argyle

Come the end of the season, I'll take down all the predictions. For every position that it's wrong, each contributor will get 1 point. The prediction with the least points wins.

I'm not going to predict anything (yet), but I think you're over-rating Leeds.

Not really how it works. No one releases their predictions a month into the season...

a lot of moving parts in the Championship, though, so It could all change between now and the end of the window. When players start coming in on loan, they can change a teams trajectory completely, so we still have that to come.

I'll have a go but am useless at this sort of stuff so expect to be very wrong in hilarious ways. Overall i think outside of the top sides it’s pretty hard to predict overall.

Only thing ill say is im actually not feeling very confident about us. I am naturally a bit of a pessmist when it comes to us but the whole Summer has just felt a bit "off" to me. Perhaps its taste of the first relegation in a very long time last season, but the lack of transfer activity, last seasons major injury issues hanging around, and just general pretty low key approach to the summer by the Club isnt giving me great vibes, first time in a while I’ve thought we look pretty unprepared for the season start which isn’t like us.

I don't disagree here. I think the kit announcement yesterday almost sums it up. There is no way they'd have left it until a week before the season starts to say they were only going to swap the home kits once every 2 years, unless something had gone wrong.

I actually felt last season we went in under-prepared. And in recent years, we've always got off to slower starts and built into the Autumn. The friendly at Bochum proved our defence was a mess.

Parachute payments aren't designed to enable clubs to spend huge fees, they're there to ensure the clubs don't fall off a cliff. Our budget will still be high, but what it's proving is that other clubs don't take notice of these facts! Go and spend some bloody money. This season, they'll take about £55M in TV distributions and have already taken in £9M from the Giles and Barkley transfers. A remotely competent club should make the top 6 based on finance alone.

If I'm being totally honest, in the last 12 months I don't necessarily think we've done ourselves justice off the pitch. The club rightly gets plaudits in many areas, but some areas need improvement. I'm not saying this is absolutely needed, but sometimes, change is needed.

I'm not going to comment on us, obvious bias makes it difficult to be objective.

I know that Watford's owners are known for being a little unhinged and it's created a unsettled environment, but I do struggle to see anyway they finish bottom of the league - considering the talent in the team.

The bottom team is typically the one with the least amount of depth/talent so whilst I could see Watford getting dragged into it, certainly not bottom. I think the bottom slot will contain one of the newly promoted teams who don't have the ability within the squad to step-up, Blackburn or Plymouth.

Unless they know Watford are likely to get a points deduction, but would assume West Brom are the most likely, if any, this season.

Yeah, Watford finishing bottom is utter nonsense. They've just done it as click bait.

I’ll just do the ones that really matter..

1. Coventry
2. Burnley

3. Leeds
4. Boro
5. Pigs
6. Luton

22. Hull
23. Derby
24. Plymouth

There isn’t a team this year who stands out to me as being a cut above. I think Cov would have made the play offs without the cup run and will go one better this year having kept a steady squad and last summers signings having had a season to adapt.

Hull have lost so many players, signed an unknown (to the champ anyway) plus two wing backs. They will sign more obviously, but they won’t be as good as the ones that have left. I think they could have a rocky start and find it difficult to get out of.

I wouldn’t say it’s talentless but it’s not anywhere close to the sides that had Sarr, Pedro, Hughes et al to dig them out of the and ownership & instability at the management position situation and has been in an almost steady/managed decline for 3 seasons.

Maybe not bottom but on social media most Watford fans almost seem to be expecting a relegation battle this season.

Bit worrying for you if we finish 22nd, since we're going to finish above you.

Speaking with people last night before the game, there was definitely a feeling that some of the external predictions of us to do well are out of step with supporters. Those around me were predicting mid table finishes and missing out on the playoffs. Dont think many people’s views would have been swayed from that view last night.

I get the feeling that the new stadium is ramping up rapidly in its seriousness in terms of getting close to starting to build and the focus of the club hierarchy is perhaps shifting toward that as a priority and maybe away from in field matters. I definitely feel like this will be a transitional season for us

Surprised by people tipping Millwall for relegation, they ended the season in quality form and their business seems solid enough.

Harris isn’t a great manager, he obviously came in and gave them the rocket up the arse they needed to get them out of trouble (Warnock style). Long term though, I’m not too sure…

Yes that is right and even though we have started well people still expect not much more than mid table tbh.

Early days obviously and you know with us only takes a bad run for things to change!

Fans and our board can be very fickle.

We have some decent players clearly but a lot are young or pretty average liable to a bad day or two.

But its the Championship - strange things do happen.
