Cheltenham (5th) vs Northampton (7th)
Grimsby (16th) vs Newport (15th)

Two midweek games.

Cheltenham vs Northampton is a six-pointer for the playoffs race. Coming into the game, Cheltenham have a record of W4 D0 L1 in their last five games, while Northampton have a record of W2 D0 L3,

Grimsby vs Newport, two teams down in the lower midtable who are too low to expect a playoffs push, but who are unlikely to be relegated due to Bury FC going out of business and Stevenage being worse than York, Dag & Red, and Yeovil in the 2015-16 season. Grimsby have a record of W2 D2 L1 in their last five games, while Newport have a record of W1 D1 L3.

Our game is huge tomorrow. Win that and we're 3 points off Exeter having played the same number of games, and also having to play them at home (obviously there will be a few more twists and turns between now and the end of the season).

Not only that, if we win there will finally be a bit of breathing space between us and 8th place.

What concerns me is that we've been giving away silly chances and not taking our own when creating them. We could, and should, have had more against both Orient and Mansfield. However the number of times we put Mansfield into scoring positions, only to get away with it, was far too many for comfort.

Heart rules head on this one - 2-1 to the Robins.

Cheltenham breathing down our necks playing Northampton who deservedly beat us at the weekend and could have a late charge. Draw please.
I reckon Grimsby will pick up 3 points in the other game

Yep as has been mentioned this is a huge game for us. Our away form has been patchy and I think I’d take a draw. Bit of injury trouble up top, Williams/Oliver/Smith potentially all out which could leave Morton up top on his own. Whilst he’s a good player I think he’s too lightweight to lead the line on his own.

Newport have two of our ex-forwards and we know the curse of the ex-players, plus we do give teams chances to score, but since Ollie has arrived we also score a few ourselves.

Obviously want a home win and make the 50 or so Whelks wish they'd stayed in Newport.

4-2 with both Matt and Amond scoring for them.

'Alice Weidel' eh?

Is there a Tommy Robinson or Marine Le Pen knocking about on here too?

I think we'll draw 1-1 tomorrow, with Podge as nearly always getting their equalising goal and Vernam putting us ahead at the start of the 2nd half.

A draw or a Northampton win would be ideal don't want pesky little Cheltenham getting to close to the top 3 places.

Good news on the selection front, Scott Wharton, Ryan Watson and Vadaine Oliver have all recovered from their knocks picked up on Satdee.

There's a Kim Jong Un on this site who's an Oxford fan.

Insane dictators are often fans of lower division English football clubs. Nicolae Caucescu was a big York City fan, and Pol Pot had a Mansfield duvet cover when he was a kid. Not sure I can say the same for Nazis.

Just having a look at the table there - I'd say a draw or a Northampton win would be preferable. If Cheltenham win then it turns a 4 horse auto promotion race to a 5 horse.

Stop worrying about us - we're quite happy going along under the radar thanks.

Funny you should mention this because both Idi Armin and Joseph Stalin both had Grimsby Town rattles as children; donated by a little known Christian Group from Cleethorpes called 'The Brotherhood for Good'.

Steve Dale was also kind enough to help out league 2 as well.

Just saw a statement from Newport apologising to Stuart McCall about the actions of their fans at the weekend. Anyone know what happened?

Not as big a fan as top dog to Adolf Reinhardt Heydrich "The man with the Iron Heart"... Hitler gave him his nickname after seeing him in the Scunthorpe Ultra's at Grimsby away burning a cod taunting the away fans and thought... this Iron fan bleeds it. He's one of ours.

It makes you wonder about some people doesn't it?

I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I've been genuinely moved to tears at a football ground. One time was the minute's silence held for my uncle at Whaddon Road in the first game after he died of cancer (he had been a steward at the club). The other was when I visited Valley Parade in 2006 and read through the names and ages on the fire memorial.

I'm an extemely placid person but I don't think I would have been able to stand there and do nothing had I witnessed that absolute prat.

Started well, quick goal, then another poor defensive mistake from a cross led to an easy goal.

Newport seemed to be on top after that until they decided to start falling over at everything and the ref became centre of attention, causing the game to become scrappy. We get a goal from a free kick and then control it till half time.

Had more of the ball and more shots including smashing the bar from a good effort outside the box, but we still have those silly defensive errors in us, so probably need at least another to win this.

Ah, you have that sniper that shoots only Newport players too? It is always annoying if the ref falls for it given how obvious it often is.

Late winner from super Luke Varney. Now 3 points off the autos. We could actually be having a go at this...
