Getting buttfucked here to be fair. Keep the score down.

Has Keith even considered that wing backs who don't defend might not be a good idea against Everton!?!

Our left wing back is pish, Grainger was injured so not many options in that area. Seems like 4-4-2 would be a better formation though when they're doubling up on the wings so often.

Yep, bit too attacking and not a lot of support for the full backs here. I know you want to "have a go" but that does need to be balanced with a solid defensive setup too.

Not even the formation, they just kept getting caught in front of the ball. Seem to have sorted it a bit now though, but the first twenty was a mess.

Ellis and Gillesphey have been awful, Comley is crashing into every tackle and looks like he could be brilliant when we get back to league football.

Give me a shitty League 2 game over this any day. Not a fan of all the attention, a few day trippers coming out to shout racist abuse at Everton players has ruined it. All of the Everton midfielders seem like utter bellends as well so I'll be glad to see the back of them. Glad I couldn't go.

Fucking shite.

One up front at home to a team under pressure? Nah, fuck off.

First half was enough...

I can handle the footballing side of things. Everton are a much better side, obviously it showed but what more do you expect. I actually thought for 70 minutes we gave a good account of ourselves, just shot ourselves in the foot too early to come back and then a lucky Barkley goal to kill us off.

My issue is when a few thugs come out for the day disguised as football fans, shout racist abuse and then aren't seen at Brunton Park again until the next cup tie. This will no doubt be the memory many Everton fans have of us now when I'm sure that 99% of our fans would be disgusted by such behaviour. I'm very happy we got this far and this game will have helped the money side of things to no end, but I'm very glad to see the back of today for various reasons besides the actual game.

Disappointing today, I was worried when our team was announced. The early goal killed us off a bit, never really looked like getting back into it. Everton controlled the game, and that's what you'd expect against that kind of quality, but bar an early Asamoah shot, we offered little. Gillesphey was shocking.

I've not seen us put in a good performance since the Notts County game, a bit worrying.

That was the most inept, embarrassing "performance" I've seen from us in a long time.

I just want to forget about that. A glorious opportunity in front of a big crowd, and we produce that. Our fans are wanking themselves into a frenzy over Barkley, but fuckin hell we made it easy for him!

I was really impressed with our first half performance yesterday, you would have thought we were the Premier League side when that goal went in after 48 passes.

Substitutions swung it in their favour. I thought on balance we deserved a draw but a replay is the last thing we wanted. Hopefully Bournemouth get something really shit like Shrewsbury or Hull away so we don't feel too bad about getting knocked out and missing out on the likes of United or City. They could go far if they take the competition seriously.

I share the disappointment with the other United fans. Wasn't expecting us to beat Everton though felt we had an outside chance of nicking a replay. I just wanted us to give a good account of ourselves and get a goal and was let down on both counts.

Sometimes it was clear that Everton have much better players than us, but some of the sloppy play, giving it away or putting passes out for throw-ins had nothing to do with the calibre of the opposition.

More disappointing that one or two morons who have probably not been to Brunton Park before or since are able to overshadow the game... I don't want to be accused of brushing the issue of racism under the carpet, but sometimes people will say racist things, the less attention you give them the better, certainly don't let a couple of people become the news story for an entire game.

Curle got the team selection totally wrong today, to not start Ibehre and to play wing backs was criminal. Gillesphy is simply not good enough to play as a wing back, if Grainger had been available then maybe he'd of been fine but Gillesphy just can't cope playing in that position. We also showed them too much respect early on and didn't try to get at them enough which is what pissed me off more than anything else as we were letting Everton look way better than what they are and it made us look too much like a typical lower league underdog just happy to be part of the big occasion.

Speaking of the occasion I must say that I was very impressed with how the club created the big match day experience and to see a full house of 17,000+ and the media attention was incredible! It all goes to show that there is much potential for our club and fanbase, so they must do more to get the attendances up and of course more hype!!

Well at least now we can finally concentrate on the league again and play against teams who we can actually compete against. :)

I don't even think it was so much the team selection that was wrong. A similar looking lineup held Liverpool to 1-1 after 120 minutes at Anfield. I just think the standing off, sitting back, allowing Everton too much time and space, failing to execute simple passes, switching off as we did for the first goal... All contributed to a terrible performance.

That first 2 minutes, how not to start a cup tie!!! If Everton start the game and cut you open with their superior ability, you think fair enough. But to be done in the second minute by a defender switching off for a long punt over the top.... so frustrating.:ffs:

Hallam Hope was surprisingly decent as a wing-back, not that he should be replacing Grainger or anything, but good to see someone who will get back. Disappointed McQueen didn't get a chance though.

I would say we didn't look like the typical lower league underdog. We tried to pass it around a bit much, especially at the back, as though we were going to Barcelona-ise them. Don't try and play tika-taka against Premier League opposition.

I think it would be OK if it wasn't for the pitch. The pitch was so bobbly and unpredictable, the first touches were a struggle when passing from the back.

Jagielka and Funes M were struggling with it as well and miscontrolling the ball quite often. Luckily for them our forward and midfielders weren't putting them under pressure so they didn't suffer from it.

It was a terrible goal to concede, and knocked any confidence out of the team/fans almost immediately. Lennon is still pretty fast!

As above, the passing at the back didn't really work against Premier League opposition. There was a moment today similar to the Cambridge game earlier in the season, Ellis (I think) slipped and nearly gave them a great chance.

Also, I thought that Barkley goal was a top strike until I seen the huge deflection on the highlights. Our midfield never came close to theirs today.

To be fair to Ellis I think he's just been completely outpaced for the first goal, I don't see how he could've dealt with it really. Ball over the top and Lennon was probably twice as quick as him off the mark so besides fouling him and risking a red I'm not sure he could've got to the ball, and after that it was just a well worked goal.

The new pitch wasn't as bad as it was against York so I'm thinking that it probably still just needs a bit more time to settle in so it can be fine to play passing football again.
