With 2 clubs already as good as relegated - Bolton and Bury - it’s going to take a truly shite season for Lincoln to join them.

Called it wrong there, Coddy.

Promoted teams don’t often struggle in recent years and looking at their squad it should be more than capable of staying up

They are a very persistent side under Cowley, easily the toughest team we faced in L2 last season. Still think they need a couple more additions (perhaps in attacking roles), but even now there are certainly at least four other clubs in L1 that look more likely for the drop.

Don't think they'll be challenging near the top, I'd expect them to finish 10th-16th.

Top half imo, very rare that newly promoted teams struggle.

Fancy Lincoln to be challenging up towards the playoffs myself,

Bottom half but there's no way they'll finish in the bottom four with Cowley at the helm.

With the money they spent the last two seasons they shouldn’t be anywhere near the bottom four.

Chucked absolute coin at that squad.

As it stands, expect the Imps to be comfortably mid-table. A couple of decent signings could turn them into promotion contenders.

Dried up now though, there are barely any rumours regarding new signings and the ones that are going about are no better than their current lot really. Their transfer strategy appears to be waiting until Andrade has been sold before starting, which is odd considering they chucked hundreds of thousands at promotion last season. Small squad too, they were fortunate not to really get hit by that last season in my opinion.

You mean they are living within their means? I must admit its a novel idea maybe someone should explain this to our club...

If they keep the Cowleys then Id back then to do what we did last season and go straight on through. Similar set up to what we had at the time with a promising young manager, a clear philosophy in terms of how they play that they are well drilled in and good recruitment to back that up, as well as the momentum of a promotion to carry them through.

We didn't make a great deal of changes from League 2 to League 1, couple of new centre halves and that was about it, largely the same side as League 2.

Bar the top couple of teams in League 1, and the odd terrible side at the bottom end of League 2, i didnt think there was a great deal of difference between the 2 divisions at all.

Pretty much how we've been since our dice with death. A crazy idea that should be rolled out across the football world. No fun in it, so can't see it catching on.

Not really, Lincoln have not exactly been sustainable while back in the FL.

No chance. I've watched a lot of Luton over the past few seasons and you're miles ahead of them and you were at this point last season compared to Lincoln now.

Yep, 2.5M on Akinde was ridiculous money for their level.

I`d be surprised if they finish outside the top half even though I admit not knowing a lot about the teams they, and us for that matter, will be up against. From what I saw of them at our place last season they will hold their own at least.

Of the four promoted teams, Lincoln will be decent and might have an outside run at the playoffs (recall saying something similar about Luton last year!). MK are my tip for the mid table award of being the first team in L1 to confirm their L1 place for 2020/21. Tranmere need to replace Norwood's goals, and I'm not convinced about Mellon as manager being able to turn things around if they have a bad run - but they're on an up cycle at the moment. Bury, sadly, are in a bad place at the moment.

I’d agree with this, although Lincoln’s squad depth may see them struggle more than we anticipate. Not to the extent that they’ll be in any real danger though as I think they’re far too effective as a team for that.

Sustainable within certain bounds I would imagine. You did spend quite a lot in your spell in L2 and you can't reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup and sell Sean Raggett every season, I imagine Lincoln's base spending power isn't much above most L2 clubs.

Doubt you'll go down but I imagine you'll find a level similar to that of Shrewsbury, another club of a similar size who spend very much within their means; veering between mid-table safety and real relegation scares but staying out of trouble on account of being relatively well ran.

If you'd have told me three seasons ago that in 4 years time you'll suffer a relagation to league 2, I would have snapped your hand off.

Cowleys stay and I can't see us getting relegated, don't think we'll be close to the play offs mind. I'll happily take mid table this season
