The match that seemingly always ends with utterly boring 0-0's. Hopefully we won't see that again this season!

We were without Shackell, O'Connor and Akinde last week and also lost Frecklington at HT but it sounds like the former two were impact injuries in training, whilst Frecklington's was also an impact one.

Cambridge had only sold 175 ticket at the last count earlier today, which I suppose is understandable considering their position. Hopefully they'll still get to the 300-350 mark (is it pay on the day for you lot?).

3 of our next 4 are at home (away at Colchester), so we need to be making these count.

Facts are Cambridge have been creating plenty of chances, we haven't really been playing fantastically well at SB either. It's a game we should win, but expectation guarantees you nothing.

2 years ago today we beat Guiseley in the fa cup 4th qualifying round, things have moved on a bit since, been quite a ride!

Could not agree more! It’s total b0ll0cks in my eyes and far too common. It’s particulatly annoying when you read this drivel and then the same fan/poster post game goes onto hammer the lowly placed out of form opposition stating they can’t believe how bad they were, how shoddy the defence was, or how little they tried etc etc. Embarrassing stuff imo

Totally agree about the form and league table, not so sure about the laughable bit. A quick look tells me Cambridge are near the bottom and have lost a few on the spin. We are on a roll and on the back of a 6-2 away win. I fully expect us to beat them and have wagered on it. On the other hand I can never convince my mate to predict an Imps win, even now!
We always used to be that team that ended long winning and losing runs for others. I'm pretty sure those days are behind us, at least for near future.

I fully expect us to lose on Saturday. We have played better in the last two league games (42 shots in two games is some effort) but we’ve failed to score and lost both. I mean, we are crap but we have also been unfortunate not to score and get something out of both of those games - and points in them would have lifted us out of the relegation zone so you could argue it’s a false position. But then I come back to the point - we are crap. We’re second bottom for a reason. Frankly I’d be delighted with a draw.

Five weeks away and the prospect of stumbling to January with no fit and competent strikers has broken my addiction to live football on a saturday, so I'm giving this one a miss - as are many other regular travellers I suspect.

Clutching at straws, we have the prospect of Reggie Lambe (2 league goals) returning from the international team with a hat-trick under his belt and Jabo (0 goals, 2 assists) back after his second concussion protocol of the season - but we're talking about the mighty, high flying, goal scoring machine that is The Cowley's Lincoln at Sincil Siren Bank.

We're probably capable of nicking this by a goal if the home team are feeling generous, as the team spirit is not as fragile as you'd expect from our league position. We are equally capable of gifting 2 or 3 (or even more), especially if we are chasing the game after going behind.

I'd be delighted with a point from the coming week (Lincoln and Swindon) and a half decent squad with some options from the bench for the following 6 pointers against Macc and Grimsby at the Abbey.

Cody McDonald and Franck Moussa MIGHT feature on the bench. They've been training with the squad this week and are free agents. More likely they're not fit enough and won't be seen 'til next weekend if at all

From possibly our youngest bench ever for the last match, return Mitov, leaving Forde (or even Pilkington) as sub keeper and a fit(ish) Barry Corr could leave us with one of our oldest ever in coming weeks.

From what Eardley let slip in his press conference, sounds like Shackell hasn't trained at all this week so I doubt we'll see him.

Akinde seemed to be training in some of the videos from this week, so that'll be a plus.

All the C's this week - Cambridge (h), Carlisle (h) and Colchester (a), so we might move it about a bit with 3 games in a week.

Well half time and what a hilarious game of football this is turning in to.

Two very good goals for each team.

Ref gives us a red card which looks like barely a booking from my view. Home fans not happy and the game has descended into a panto. Ref has completely lost control of the game and is bottling decisions left right and centre. Each team should have had penalties.

Cambridge in control but we look more threatening when we get the ball. Will take a point here.

You lot wait until you see our red card. When the opposition manager and the player the 'foul' was on tell you that they'll help in the appeal process, that tells you all you need to know.

Ruined what was turning out to be a good, open game of football.

Missing Shackell, O'Connor and Frecklington with Akinde only on the bench, making a double change and formation change after the sending off wasn't ideal.

Two good goals, a good penalty shout for each side turned down 30 seconds apart but a game where Cambridge's cautious nature after our sending off meant that neither side created much after the 20 minute mark.

Cambridge looked neat and tidy, but a little Crewe like. Easy on the eye, looked like something could happen but invariably didn't.

Watched the game at home with a Liverpool fan - and now I have to sit through their match at Hudders ffs! - and we both thought the two penalties should've been given.it's understandable in a way as the ref wasn't going to give Lincoln a pen when he denied us one only 20 seconds before, though at first he looked like he was going to give it but then changed his mind???

On the sending off incident I'm not too sure if I'm being honest. It certainly was a nasty challenge, and wholly unnecessary btw, but I thought it was more a yellow card offence. My mate disagreed and said it was a clear red.

On the whole I guess I'm happy with a point, even though Lincoln had ten men for 70 mins. It's a tough place to go to, and the red card did level things up a bit. I mean we were also effectively playing with ten men as Azeez is beyond hopeless. Now if we had a couple of decent strikers up front then I would've said that's two points dropped but we don't so a very welcome point imo. The fact that we've only got Azeez and the Limps have got Akinde, Rhead and Green says it all really.

Draw definitely a fair result. From where I was sat the red seemed very harsh and completely changed the game. Cambridge had all the ball as you would expect, but I think we looked a lot more dangerous going forward.

The Cambridge goal was on of the best I've seen from an away side in a long time. After that they just kept shooting from outside the area and most of them were pretty awful.

If I was an away fan I would have been disappointed to watch my goalkeeper waste time from start to finish against 10 men. Cambridge really should have got at us straight after because after we made the substitutions we were all over the place.

I can only assume the ref thought it was a stamp or high and it’s hard to tell from the footage. It’s certainly late and Deegan goes down in a heap - I dislike Deegan with a passion for being shite but he’s not the sort to try to get others sent off, definitely not. But there you go, we had a similar challenge not go our way last week against MK Dons.

Jevani’s goal is a screamer and lovely to see frankly. Rhead’s goal was a good one too and the sort of goal we’re just not capable of scoring.

Aside from that, I didn’t go so I’m relying on reports. I’m not surprised we didn’t kick on to get the winner. We’re not good enough and totally bereft of the confidence required. And to be honest, Lincoln with 10 men are still probably better than us with 11. We expected to lose, we didn’t. Therefore I’m very happy with a draw, regardless of how many men Lincoln had on the pitch.

Edit: regarding our goalkeeper’s timewasting, Forde does it every game even when we’re losing. I can only assume he’s got a contract where he loses money for every goal he concedes as he pisses me off with it every game. But that said I’d have taken a draw so it worked out ok for us.

2 cracking goals and a shocking display by the "referee". The guy got so much wrong. The red is just ridiculous, slightly mis-timed, definitely a free kick but never a red. Didn't think there should have been a booking in the entire game other than maybe -
1) The Cambridge keeper, for some bizarre reason, running The clock down at 1 each against 10 men
2) The Cambridge lad not getting booked for what must have been an Oscar winning dive if it wasn't the stonewall penalty that it cleary was!

2 excellent goals- brilliant start to the game for the first 20 mins which looked like it was going to be a cracker.

And then the ref steps in to spoil it- looks like an appeal is coming which Cambridge United have advised they will support (management and player!)- that's how much it wasn't a red card.

Have to say, Imps had some chances from 6-8 yards which should have been put away (Bozzie managed to hit the car park behind the BM stand rather than the net from 6 yards out and Scotty Wharton flew in for an incoming corner but, from 8 yards, missed everything including the goal....and the ball!!

I'll take a point on this one- still 4 points clear.

Carlisle becomes a little more important to get a further 3 points.

Interestingly both goalkeepers slowed the game down immensely after the sending off- both seemed happy with the draw!

Ref was as poor as you can get- overruled the linesmen on 4 occasions!

If he didn't see it properly then he shouldn't send the lad off, referrees should never guess, sadly this guy did it a lot.
