Stone Wall red that is, maybe not intentional but it’s so high and studs up. One of those where years ago you might have got away with it but in this day and age only one outcome if the referee gets a clear view of it.

From that picture if the challenge was a force down stamping action then his leg would be broken no two ways about it. But the fact that Chapman went to sidefoot it out of play starting from the floor and his leg rising up naturally means there was no danger of injury but has resulted in this unfortunate photo which doesn't look good at all and probably won't get rescinded now.

So you believe it’s a yellow card only?

Is clearly split even the naturally biased Lincoln fans, most others believe it deserves a red but none of that matters . Only what the referee thought, and I’m sorry but looking at the video and backed up by the photo you can’t seriously be screaming it’s an injustice? I know you like to be controversial but if you’ve watched football for any decent period of time you will know their a dozens of much worse red card decisions by referees for all teams.

Disgusting if this gets rescinded . Disgusting !

Aye yeah, such a clear split that the opposition manager and player involved in the tackle are supporting the appeal.

Oh if that’s the case then you will get the red card rescinded , right?

Hold on a minute, is there not a clear split in Lincoln fans opinion on here?

Don’t most others on here also think it was a red card offence?

Oh and the referee said it was sending off offence obviously. Are you outraged about this decision even now MR96 ?

They said that straight after the game though, didn't they? They'll probably have reconsidered that now after seeing the video. Will be interesting to see if Cowley concedes that he got it wrong in his post match interview too.

Some of the Lincoln lot can't fathom out why people don't really think much of their sublime management duo's pitch side antics and the "game management" of their players, so it's hardly surprising that some of them are denying actual evidence.

Not really. I didn’t think it was a red live, I still don’t think it was, and it ruined what was shaping up to be a decent game. But it’s done with now. Although I’m glad to see it’s excercising our stalkers by the Humber.

Well the incident happened right in front of the Cambridge bench so they had the best view out of anyone. They must have thought it was a disgusting tackle to come out and say they'll help with the appeal, huh?

Same with the earlier points about intent. A foul doesn't have to be horrendous for it to be deemed red card worthy.

Let’s wait and see if the inevitable appeal is successful or not. Red cards often ruin games, blame young enthusiasm from the lad.

We had two or three identical to that result in red cards last year. Tonge v Crewe , Pugh v Chesterfield and Gibbons v Yeovil. they are ones you kind of feel disappointed to lose but generally get given. All three the players rolled around like they'd had leg breakers only to make a miracle recovery mind!

How in gods name does anybody see the photos and video and still believe it might be rescinded? Embarrassing.

On this one, I'm blaming his youth and that he hasn't learnt how to tackle properly. It is the weakest part of his game and his left leg wafts around in a tackle like a daisy- that's why he ended half way up Duggans leg.

I've not seen a video that makes me think different. Looks innocuous still. As for the photo I'm pretty sure if you still frame most 50/50s in a sequence you'd be able to pick out a frame that makes it look dangerous and a red card.

This just isn’t true - most tackles don’t end with someone’s studs making contact with an opponent’s shin. They should remove all ambiguity and just make that an automatic red card, there’s absolutely no need to tackle like it and it’s how so many serious injuries happen.

It was a mistimed , poor technique and he’s young. This red card could be the best thing for the lad.

If Impish says it’s not a red after seeing the video/photo , it makes me more confident it’s a red.

Hold on .... it was a red card.

It wasn't even a bloody side tackle for crying out loud which most of the modern day fans usually scream red for, and it wasn't a stamp.

I challenge all of you to stand up in your cosy lounge and go to sidefoot clear an imaginery ball then look down where your studs would end up...oh yes...in someones shin.

Is it a red if you go to sidefoot the ball out of play but the opposition player slides in and reaches it a second earlier? If the answer is yes then you're part of the problem.

I can actually imagine you recreating that in your cosy lounge  . Did your mum agree it was harsh? Yellow? Or just a free kick?

Not sure this even qualifies for the Top 100 worst red card decisions ever list.

The young lad just needs to be quicker, and go get that ball. Ignore the shin.

Keep us updated on the appeal please :2thumb:

She said it was just a free kick and doesn't know what all the fuss is about. Mumbled something about it being a man's game? Smart woman.

Can tell a mile off you've never played the game from most of the stuff you say. Get back to your pot noodle and sky remote.

Well that is a load of tripe.

Completely agree with people that have previously said that you can't judge tackles on still photos.

However, also completely agree that the red card will not be overturned, despite how harsh I think it is (maybe some home bias there).

Think the most bizarre moment in the whole scenario for me was seeing their bloke do a back somersault to get back to his feet!

It’s an absolutely blatant red card. It’s dangerous play. Deegan could’ve had his leg broken. Intent is completely irrelevant. If you can’t see that then you’ll never agree with a refereeing decision regardless of how blindingly obvious it is.

Remember when Billy Knott got sent off? Think I’m getting déjà vu.

Seriously who’s surprised about Lincoln fans excessively going on and on about a red card or major decision that went against them for ages after the event? Youthful over sensitivity.

Happened last season, again this and will next season , albeit in L1. The only difference and pleasant surprise this time that they aren’t universally biased in their view. Really sorts the wheat from the chaff in terms of Imp fans on here. Which is useful moving forward

Obviously when the appeal is lodged, and is successful I will naturally apologise for this post. But until then. Wheat vs Chaff.

For what it's worth, having watched it several times now, I don't think it's that blatant and nailed on of a red. You see ones like this given and you see them get let off too. Amusing how some of the Lincoln lot are still up in arms about it though. I don't think it's a controversial one at all and there will be (and already have been) several worse red cards this season.

Best part of this thread has to be the Impish "man's game" assessment for me. Superb stuff. Will have to remind him of that next time Akinde is rolling around on the floor in the box or Cowley is whining that poor little Rheady isn't getting his special ref protection. Lincoln player sent off? Man's game. Akinde pen? Oh that's different, that is "savvy".

It will all ultimately prove to be irrelevant in the end as Lincoln will end up occupying one of those auto spots and gaining promotion come what May. However, like I have been saying all season and even prior to it starting, Cowley has spread his wage budget too thickly across too few players. Hence playing a 17 year old and dropping 2 points that were there for the taking. This could well cost them the title.

I would love to be in a position when a team selection (I have next to no idea about the Lincoln side so won’t pretend to know anything) costs my side the title only!

Happy days , all season, for this part of Lincolnshire. Enjoy :bg:

We have 26 players, one out on loan, 4 injured which includes 2 of our central midfielders , hence playing Chapman in there with Pett. He could play Wilson or Bostwick there. Not short of players as such just short in one area temporarily.
Apparently O'Connor or Frecklington could be back tonight.
Can't see chapman getting off.

Indeed top 3 will do me nicely, 85 points is the aim for automatic promotion, so 53 to get from 32 games.
