I think journos probably feel under pressure to come up with some reductive angle when writing about two managers going head-to-head. It's obviously not as simple as modernity vs the past, and there are many other ways you could see the match-up (experience vs less experience, perennial winner vs perennial losing finalist, attack vs defence, heavy metal vs funereal dirge) but I found it a good read and thought I'd post it in here, because why not.

Since you seem to want a dialogue, I was especially intrigued by the bit about the way Mourinho's players used to worship him. It likened people who worked with him at Porto with members of a cult, and you got the impression those at Chelsea (first spell) and Inter would throw themselves on a grenade for him too. Hard to believe the players at Chelsea (last season) and United now would give the same impression (especially as he's criticised many of them publicly). Interestingly results have dipped at the same time, and this season has been the worst start he's had at any of his clubs since Uniao Leiria. Are his relationships with his players suffering because of his results, or is it the other way around? Or is my perception that he doesn't have a good bond with United's players plain wrong? What do you reckon?

On the Klopp side, it's hard to argue that he's been a thrilling addition to the mix. He has very different qualities to Mourinho and I much prefer watching his teams play. Would have been my post-Wenger choice.
