Surely you'd at least like the players to give more of a shit though?

What do you mean mate? They could give all the shits in the world, it's not gonna suddenly transform the likes of Obertan and Abeid in to productive top flight footballers capable of competing with teams (apparently) worth hundreds of millions of pounds.

Aye well some of the ones you've been stuck with atm are complete tripe, but some sort of effort, they just looked like they are completely resigned & can't be bothered. Comparatively terrible players can look half-decent if they try at times, I mean even Gibson has looked passable at Everton.

They look like they don't know wtf they're supposed to be doing imo. Like after the derby Carver came out and praised the defence but criticised the midfield and forwards, yet he set them up in a way which meant the lightweight Perez was completely isolated and the enitre midfield was pushed back in to their own half, the only drive from midfield (Sissoko) sat deep the entire game. Clearly a managerial descision, and one he didn't try to correct til there was 10 mins left. The way he sets us up for individual games never makes sense, and that's gotta be annoying for the players.

I think both players and fans are resigned to the fact that our season is over and we're just limping over the line until the summer. We've got no players left, our temp manager is completely out of his depth and, despite the ridiculous problems he's facing, it's gotta be frustrating playing for that guy. The mood isn't great atm, we need a big summer of activity and the right manager to come in and fix the mess Pardew left. I'm sort of glad Carver is doing poorly in a way. Obviously I didn't want it to go this badly but at least he wont be getting a full time managers job next season.

Who would be a likely replacement? Are Newcastle still a club that can attract a big name? I think with the players they've got their league position is about right. Other than Sissoko, I can't think of anyone who is anything but average.

They might get someone like Dyche if he doesn't stay at Burnley or if they get relegated.

McLaren seems interested. I'd have thought he'd have more sense tbh.

I think McClaren is building something at Derby. I'm not so sure he'd want to leave a team who've looked to get a solid foundation going forward, especially if they get promoted, to a sinking ship unless they offered him a lot more money... But lots of money and Mike Ashley don't go hand in hand.

Go for Moyes!

I think Newcastle will need to look at a manager looking to redeem himself who has perhaps just had a bad spell in an otherwise decent career (like Klopp only more small time) or give a chance to an unknown, at least on these shores. I really hope they don't go for an ex player or one of the many names on the managerial merry go round that seem to do shit yet constantly get work.
Saying all that, Laudrup is free in the summer.
