Was surprised by how poor Clyne was today. Barely got forward. Exactly how he was in the second half of last season for us.

Disappointed but at no point after taking the lead was I confident we wouldn't concede, it's the Liverpool way. Klopp has work to do to get rid of that failing, but it's nothing we didn't already know and he will get there.

It shows how bad this transfer committee and/or Rodgers were in building this squad.

Average defenders, only one recognised left back, 3 guys who wanna play number 10 role and injury issues to all the strikers except one lad who is just not up to it. No width, no balance and no leaders on the pitch to get everyone going.

Henderson is missed badly in the midfield, just can't rely on Sturridge and Ings injury was at worst possible time! And when the hell is Flanagan back from injury?

And loaned out Markovic. Milner, who was promised CM role by Rodgers, now has to play as our winger. I don't think we are missing Flanagan as much as width and proper striker.

Don't you think Big Balls Benteke is a proper striker?

He is, that's why we looked better when he came on. I expect him to do better once he gets more mins under his belt. But it is clear to see we lack the width.

I'm getting a bit concerned with Ibe. Beginning of season when he made few substitutions he looked completely out of sorts. He's the one true wide player we got but now I get worried bringing him one as he might stupidly give the ball away.

I'm expecting him to get a start in cup game this week. I think everyone was expecting him to kick on after promising second half last season.

Yeah he has looked really poor this season. I hope we recall Markovic back from loan.

Ibe's situation is strange because quite a lot of Liverpool-affiliated pundits and also some fans tripped over themselves in haste after the Sterling sale to tell everyone who would listen that Ibe is the far superior player of the two, that he has miles more potential and that this season he would prove it.

He's got plenty of time to do just that, of course, but it's not looking too good so far.

Far superior? Really? I must have missed those pundit claims but, as for the fans, it's amazing what you can find on RAWK I guess.

The "Ibe will be/is better than Sterling" claim was one that wasn't confined to RAWK. It was close to being a generally held belief by Liverpool fans. A defence mechanism for selling one of your best players to a domestic rival.

I don't know why you seem to think the only idiotic Liverpool fans dwell on RAWK. None of the comments I was referring to came from RAWK, though I'm sure some of the idiots on there echoed the sentiments of others.

I'm not sure how you missed the pundit claims either - they weren't exactly shy in coming forward with the opinion that Ibe was a better player than Sterling, certainly that he had higher potential.

I remember there were comments that we have Ibe ready to step in, some people may have said that he will be better than Sterling but I'd like to think sensible people didn't take too much notice.

Key thing was Firmino was a lad signed because he could play anywhere on a front three and will replace Sterling with Ibe as back up or potentially lining up on the other side. 2 months into the season, Firmino looks a number 10 player.

It really wasn't. There would have been some claiming he had the potential to be better and some likely saying he was outright better, but it wouldn't have been anything like a generally held belief.

So it's gone from claims of being "far superior" to having "higher potential"? The latter I can believe being claimed by some pundits, certainly.

Both claims were made, I'm afraid.

By fan and pundit alike.

It was Pags, the sensible fans were in the minority on that one. As I said, it was a defence mechanism because you'd lost Sterling to City.

Stockport County.
Klopp is the German Martin O'Neil. Hopping around on the touchline, all the media saying it's "brilliant". It's Martin O'Neil with a wig and a new pair of specs.

There's too much pressure on Ibe now. When he first got his senior appearances he played with real confidence, took players on and beat them, and looked like he could develop in the same manner as Sterling. This season he looks too afraid to lose the ball and either plays it safe or does nothing. Starting rather than coming on when the side is winning and playing confidently will be a factor in that as well. Additionally the movement of the rest of the side since the departure of Sterling and the absence of Sturridge is dogshit and gives wingers very little to work with as they've literally got to carry the ball themselves rather than beat a man, pass, move receive the ball in a better position etc etc.

Lump on the 1-1 draw. We're the draw specialists at the minute
Knew it. If we concede any goal at the minute we will not win that game simple was our problem last year not scoring enough at its our problem currently.

He is 19! People need to calm down. He has the potential but he is still long way off being as good as world class player like Memphis Depay.

I do reckon that Klopp might be able to turn him around, because he did look a good player last season.

I was actually one of those who said that losing Sterling wouldn't be such a bad thing as we had Ibe. I admit, I was wrong looking at how Ibe's season has panned out so far. Like someone above said, he seems scared to take players on now and use his pace. If he did and had a better end product, he'd be a good asset to have to link up with Benteke.
What we have to remember as well is, is that the majority of the 2ND half of the season Sterling was anonymous last season. We all know what he's capable of and City bought more potential than the finished article, but Ibe has the potential to reach what Sterling occasionally showed whilst at Liverpool.

At the time it was a fair claim, but unfortunately Ibe hasn't made the impact expected of him as of yet.
