Took one for the team tbf, anyone would do the same. Andrade tore us apart for Woking a few years back cost us 2 left backs in 1game dangerous player

Yep, commentators mentioned Gunning doing that. Andrade sounded as good as we expected and Gav had his work cut out.
Anyway, now Lincoln's cup final is over expect them to start their slide to midtable :fish:

That's my point- it is how the game is played in the modern era. It isn't how I watched it 35 years ago however we all do it and no team/manager is exempt from that approach,

That some may do it more than others is really subjective- players, managers, etc. It is about margins and how to gain them in the modern game.

Two teams made in their Managers image. One a winner, the other an utterly spineless charlatan whose had everything given to him and yet still produces teams that are less than the sum of their parts.

Lincoln are just a better team.

Yeah it was a nasty tackle that stopped a 2 on 1 in our favour, but I immediately said that's the kind of foul you want you defender to commit.

Andrade was superb again yesterday, FGR defenders couldn't handle him when he had the ball at his feet. We just didn't get the ball to him enough.

Funny how each set of fans see things their way (and we are no different so am not taking a holier than thou approach).

Worst piece of cynicism yesterday- FGR Gunning took out Bruno Andrade when he was running full tilt down the left wing and had clearly beaten him for pace and skill. Yellow card (crowd naturally screamed "off, off, off").

Walking back to prepare for the free-kick, Mills (FGR No 23) high fived him for the "tackle" whilst grinning at each other.

Every team plays the same way in terms of falling over (Mills acted like his leg was broken after the tackle and yellow card for Andrade then got up immediately the card was issued and walked off without a hint of a limp).

ALL clubs take the same gamesmanship approach, including Lincoln, so please at least recognise how your own team "play the game" as poorly, or as well, as any other.
Spotted them doing that too.

Which one of you was it who got a bit 'over excited ' when you scored and to dragged back to his seat?

Yep was worried at time that he would get a red.
I think it is called 'taking one for the team'

That was quite funny really because the guy who dragged him back to seat and away from trouble is actually banned from TNL.

BTW you Lincoln guys but is Andy Williams a local reporter?
He only awarded the game 2 stars out of five in the Football Paper.
Having said that he did award the lowest set of points to 3 Lincoln players and gave overall higher marks to the FGR players.
I thoroughly enjoyed the match despite losing and would have given it at least 3 out of five.

New one on me too, Mark Whiley and Alan Johnson are the guys who normally do our home reports in there .

The best analogy I saw after the game was that we played in the moments that counted and FGR played in most of the moments that didn’t count. They were always going to have more of the ball as they were effectively playing 5 or 6 vs 3 at times, but the majority of the play was away from our penalty area and their shots generally from outside the box.

A typical Cowley performance from us after a mini blip. We go back to basics and grind it out. We're quite happy with the ball, but we're more than happy to concede possession if needed because we're well drilled to be able to do that and this season we seem to have added a clinical edge up front.

We were quite under par. Vickers, unusually, fumbled a couple of basic catches. Wilson looked what he is – a CB playing at RB and got caught out for the goal (along with Anderson). O’Connor seemed full of mistakes and Frecklington, whilst good to have him on the pitch, was clearly no-where near fit enough after his injury either.

Bit of a gambled risk to replace McCartan with Frecklington (who need to come off anyway) and with little control in midfield with 3, we then went to 2 in there and looked to further exploit the wide areas where the space was, as shown by the winner.

If FGR can add a couple of decent first team players in January, namely at CB and ST, then they should make the PO’s. You can see why they haven’t been losing many because they keep possession but don’t have that bit of quality up front (like a Doidge) to turn draws into wins, and at the other end they’re still prone to dropping clangers, which probably stops them hanging on to leads (if that’s the case). The latter is probably as a result of how they play and leaving their CB’s exposed when in possession, as shown in both of our goals - the full backs were no-where to be seen and suddenly we were 1v1 and 2v2.

Important win as we now potentially head into a period of 3 weeks without a league game, depending on Yeovil’s call-ups. If it's postponed, it might be a blessing in disguise so that we can fully clear these injuries up properly.

Yeovil and the Oldham mid week game are both at risk- be nice to have a mid season break to catch breath!
