Very much looking forward to this one, hopefully a good festive atmosphere around the place bolster by Grimsby who always seem to travel well and in good voice. I'm doing my bit for attendance today by dragging along a few extra family members for this one too and called it the cost of them staying in my house over Christmas!

Dont know if its backed up with fact or not but always consider Grimsby a bit of a bogey side for us. I recall last year we had just beaten Wycombe 4-1 and were all on a high only to brought down to earth with a fairly comfortable 2-1 defeat at Grimsbys hands (albeit they had the stand out Bogle at the time), so always a bit wary of them.

Bit weird to say you are looking forward to seeing a right back play but interested to see how JJ does today. I can imagine its been a bit of a frustrating time for him so far this year as he hasn't been able to dislodge the superb Stacey so far in what I thought I was going to be a key season for him so he has a great opportunity today to show what he can do and try and get that place back.

Is there any update on Cuthberts injury? Last I heard it wasnt bad as first suspected but may have missed something since. A slight concern we are heavily reliant on 2 centre halves who whilst very good players, do at times seem to be held together with bits of tape! Might need to call on the services of young Famewo over this busy period of games if Cuthbert isnt back.

Cuthbert out to the end of January after a second scan showed it was worse than thought. Not ideal at all especially as Sheehan and Potts and only a couple of bookings away from a two-match ban.

Super goal from berry there, not just the finish which was great in itself (McKeown could have at least dived though I thought?) but it’s come from a great move from our own short goal kick and we’ve passed it up the pitch. Lovely.

Playing quite well, put together some lovely passing moves and had the lion share of the play. Grimsby clearly come for a point but I actually think they look reasonable and capable of nicking a goal, especially on the break. Both wingers look pacey and dangerous, especially Dembele.

Mullins has been really good in Cuthberts abscence, better and better with each game. Dominant so far today. Worryingly picked up a knock but even so I'd back one of the youngsters to step in if they had to. Would almost say we haven't missed Cuthbert he's been that impressive.

I know it's only 1-0 at the minute but I can't see us getting anything here, it seems usual that when Luton get in front at home they seem on another level to the rest of the league and go and pummel teams, don't think we'll get totally pummelled but can see a 2-0 or 3-0 coming here.

I would seriously love it to be proved wrong though.......

Don’t think Grim can really feel too hard done by. It took them 25 mins to actually set foot in our penalty area. Luton have been making all the running.

Just looking at the table as it stands - 10 points clear currently of 4th place and 5 of 2nd.

Luton haven’t lost at all this season when they’ve been ahead. Good front runners.

Sounded like we were having a right good go at 1-0 too, never mind no disgrace losing at Luton although Impish will be on later telling us how shit we are because of it.

I can't believe Luke Berry had the audacity to celebrate his 30 yard mishit cross goal, despicable but to be expected from a team like Luton........ :animatedf:

Excellent performance I think, second goal came at a good time as Grimsby were having a little go at that point. Nothing too scary but they were still in it. Always felt we were in control though.

After the second we just looked superb. Olly Lee was running the show at the end there, very amusing to watch him and Justin try and walk it in at one point! Could have had a few more really but decent performance overall.

Solid performance. Never in trouble but perfect timing of second just in case they sneaked one and got a lift. Thought we nullified all there decent options. Both wingers looked tricky and Jones caught my eye as decent, but we were always a level or two ahead in all areas and kept them at arms length.

Excellent way to round out the first half of the season. Comfortable victory against a team that came for another 0-0 after holding Notts last week.

Bloody love Luke Berry, what a signing. He's not gonna end up with the same number of goals that he was banging in at Cambridge because he's being asked to play a different role but he just oozes class in everything he does. He's throwing himself around in our box getting in a crucial block one moment then the next he's setting up an attack at the other end. Plus every once in a while he'll just work a bit of space and curl a beauty past the keeper from 25 yards

Wouldn’t have said any more than anyone else when 1-0 down. Luton were in cruise control throughout.

Totally agree about Berry, been going on about him for a while now to the people sit around me as they were saying they were a bit disappointed he wasn’t scoring more. The lads quality in my view, the archetypal player for the position he is being asked to play, great on the ball but also but also does the ugly stuff too. Quality player.

Also I believe I once said on these forums I’d be happy if Olly Lee never played for us again. I was totally and utterly wrong!

Ahh right I was just going off twitter when it said we hit the post and then had a scramble in the box where we nearly scored so I thought we were putting you under a bit of pressure. Ahh well I expected 0 points from this and we didn't get a hammering which a lot of other teams have had so could have been a lot worse I guess. :)

A routine win today without the need to step up a gear. At times Grimsby showed some pace and intent but not enough to worry our defence. A home win always looked on the cards to be honest and it could have been a couple more in the last ten minutes. Excellent strike by Berry who oosed class today. Just more proof that our squad has so much quality. If somone has a mediocre game another will excel. For the Grimsby fans on here I wouldn't be too worried by your display. There is some quality and pace but lacking a good quality striker perhaps. I think Slade summed it up pre match when he made the point that we have had time to assemble a decent squad. Grimsby look like a work in progress.
As for us. We are now starting to put points between us and our promotion rivals. Two away games coming up so a chance we'll drop points but not enough to affect our momentum.

Quote of the season here from RS: "There’s not many teams that could come to Luton and say the goalkeeper has made his first save in the 87th minute. That’s the only one that was on target, other than the ones they scored from the free-kick and from 20 yards outside the box."

I did see this and laugh. Couldnt go yesterday due to work commitments but hilarious... we had one off the line in the first minute!
