Thought there might be a thread for this already but cant see one.

Big game up at the top of the table with Wycombe making the short trip to us and selling their allocation to boot as well. Should hopefully make for a good atmosphere.

In hindsight the reverse fixture was really the game where things started to click for us in terms of being a resilient team capable of winning big games. Coming back from a goal down and playing quite poorly to winning 2-1 in the final moments, I think upon reflection looks a real turning point for us.

As for this game, looks like Hylton will remain sidelined which will be a big miss again. I think there was some concern about Cornick as well, which means we are suddenly looking a little light up front in terms of numbers.

You would expect us to change ourselves back to the diamond from the weekends ground out win at Grimsby and I would think Olly Lee would get a recall to the 11. Will be good to have Sheehan back, although you do worry about how we will cope with Akinfenwa and their more direct threat, we have stood up to that surprisingly well so far this season but no doubt this will be a step up against a highly effective player.

With recent results and other teams dropping points we have got some room for error over the next 2 games both of which look really tough. Id be really happy with 4 points from this week i must say.

The good news for us is more of our injured players are nearing match fitness but i doubt any will start tonight, shame Sam Saunders misses this game but Luke O'Nien is having a brilliant season in midfield and Dom Gape and either Marcus Bean or Matt Bloomfield we should be okay in that area. The front 3 will be Craig Mackail-Smith,The Beast and one of Paris-Cowan Hall or Nathan Tyson with Nick Freeman and Scott Kashkett on the bench so plenty of firepower there,in our last game at Crewe we had 4 strikers on the pitch at the same time for the last 10 minutes to try and find a winner which CMS scored in the 93rd minute, with Luton the highest scorers this season and us 2nd there should be a few goals and an entertaining match.i'm going for 2-2 which will move us above Mansfield into 3rd spot.

i hope akinfenwa, aka "THE REFRIGERATOR",gets stuck in the training room as the exit door jambs have been deliberately modified ...allegedly... :animatedf:

I thought Cornick was just cramp? Be a shame for him if he misses out, a good chance for him to string some starts together which is richly deserved with his form off the bench. I really rate Elliot Lee but don't think him and Collins work well as a partnership at all. Would rather try and maximise Collins' effectiveness while Hylton is injured by having more of a natural wide player either side of him and tell him not to leave the width of the goalposts (shame Gambin has been out at the same time as Hylton, wouldn't have minded seeing Gambin on the left and Cornick on the right of Collins and get some crosses in).

Tim Robinson is the referee tonight. First time he's reffed a Luton game since he infamously booked Cameron McGeehan for getting upset about having his leg broken.

He's a card happy clown! He started the season with a ridiculous amount of reds in a short space of games but has calmed down so his bosses must have given him a bollocking i reckon.

Tough game this one and expecting the same type of game as the one at Wycombe with no love lost between the two sets of players. Hoping we can create that midweek under the floodlights intimidating atsmosphere which will help lift the team. I expect a few tired legs tonight after playing with 10 men most of the game at Grimsby. The key will be to take the iniative with the emphasis on attack so that Wycombe concentrate purely on defence. They have a good front line. If we can get Akinfenwa to run around a little first half he might well be substituted early.:bg: Wouldn't be surprised to see CMS get on the scoresheet. He rarely did that it a Luton shirt for all his efforts. Cornick has to start for us. He is in a rich reign of form and causes so many problems as well as space for Collins in the middle. Also expect to see Elliot Lee back to give us a more potent attack. The key battle will be midfield and I agree that Olly Lee has to come back into the side to give us some creativity. The only other question mark is whether to play JJ or Stacey. Didn't think Stacey played that well at Grimsby especially first half which could let JJ in again. A tight game and a narrow win with another late goal perhaps. All games are important but this gives us a real chance to put some distance between us and a team in the pack below.

Cornick to the beach and its the Collins and Lee partnership. Hopefully it looks a bit better than it has previously.

First 10 minutes probably the worst I’ve seen us play defensively this season, should have been 2-0 but the Wycombe player totally fluffed a free header from a few yards out. First goal, the lack of pace in our centre half pairing really showed and they took an age to react. Second is just typical us not defending a set piece, real poor goal.

Other than that, we have actually done alright, created a lot of decent chances, not sure how Collins didn’t score at 1-0 from the Lee rebound. The Lee goal leaves it well poised for the second half. Bit concerned Tyson is going to cause us problems on the break as we chase the equaliser

Disastrous 10 minutes aside we've not played badly, created a few chances and should have scored more than the 1. Game on with the goal before half time now so hopefully we'll start the second half better than we often do.

Good half. Wycombe as you'd expect a threat on the break, as are we with the ball and possession, although took us a while to get going. They score two good away goals but both horrible from our point of view and both through Mullins territory. Hes looking a bit slow and shaky. Really highlights our shortcomings through the middle with a new Centre Half desperately needed if we step up a level. Also McCormacs experience in a game like this would be great. Oh and Danny Hylton up top would be useful.... lol. That's football tho and our strength in depth is probably OK for this league but its not for the next.

Predicted but so predictable:crazy: Too pedestrian second half - didnt keep up the momentum and Wycombe good value for it so far

Really frustrating in the end because we didn’t play too badly just some bloody stupid defensive mistakes.

Cornick has to bury that chance at the end, real poor miss for me. If he could finish he’d be some player. Elliot Lee was excellent tonight, just a shame that chance fell to Cornick rather than him.

But credit to Wycombe, massive win for them, and have a real difficult forward line that’s tough to deal with. Keeper made some top saves

Nathan Jones not too happy about Wycombe tactics it seems but maybe that isn't a surprise!

So Wycombe retake the top of the leaderboard in the time wasting division. Their first “slow down” cams just 20 seconds into the game from the first throw in.

This isn’t why we lost the game however.

I've said time and time again that if we go up it will be in spite of our defence. All three goals very defendable. Olly Lee lost it in midfield for the first, long ball over the top (looked very offside) and they scored after Stech made a good save. Second was a corner which we didn't defend. Third another long ball over the top. We have looked shaky since Cuthbert has been injured, need to get a quality CB in tomorrow if he is still a way away. Feel like we are really struggling without the spine of our team in Cuthbert, McCormack and Hylton (Gambin too), plus having to deal with the suspensions of Sheehan and now Cook.

Wycombe keeper had a worldie. Saved a freekick from Sheehan that was in all day and a late one of one with Cornick which would have made it 3-3. Indeed both of our goals he saved the initial shots and was only beaten by rebounds.

Wycombes time wasting. Sigh. I'm not sure what is worse than embarassing. Pathetic maybe? It's nothing new but it really is ridiculous. 4 added minutes in the first and 9 in the second (just the one injury stoppage) and both of those were generous to Wycombe. What is the point of waiting until the 5 minutes from the end to book their keeper for time wasting when he has been doing it for the previous 85. The same for their niggling fouls breaking the game up. Until refs police it better they will just keep getting away with it. 18 fouls given against Wycombe but only 3 yellows. Two of those were time wasting so only one yellow for a foul? Akinfenwa had 6 fouls given against him and another that the ref played advantage to as the ball broke for us. Refs need to be stronger against. Book one early and nip it in the bud.

Chance to put it right Saturday. Up the Town.

There was one injury in the whole game which took a significant amount of time. There was 13 minutes of injury time in the game. That speaks volumes!

Nathan Tyson was caught trying to do a runner over to the other side of the pitch when the board went up. Fair play to the ref for cottoning on to it. It’s pathetic.
