Apologies, didn't mean every week, but there are some scarily low ones. Gateshead brought 8 fans to us on a Tuesday night once I think, and North Ferriby only just made double figures with 13.

Exactly, the last season we went down we only had 7 followings at field mill higher than 100.

Added to that the amount of Tuesday night matches you play in unreal.

The fact that likes like notts county and Yeovil will be facing
conference north - 1 of
Brackley spenneymoor altrincham or Chorley
Conference south - 1 of
welling Wealdstone Woking or Chelmsford.

What I will say is that Notts county are a far bigger and better club than Mansfield. Always seen the stags as a bottom division/non league outfit. They seem to have got a bit above their station in my opinion. It just goes to show though how a well run and well funded club can do big things.

Exactly. Clubs go through phases.

I remember growing up with port vale being a decent and relevant championship club, and now they’re dodging relegation to the conference.

What was once relevant doesn’t affect the here and now.

Yep. All about the here and now unfortunately. We have been mismanaged pretty much for 20 years and it shows.

I believe our new owners are genuinely going to address everything from the top down. They have created a very successful business from scratch whereas Bill bratt was a two bit businessman and smurthwaite is a glorified landlord. Neither understood the need for marketing, professional PR or off field activity. The new owners run a conferencing facility as part of their business and have an excellent marketing team.

As you say, clubs go in cycles. Wolves were rock bottom a few years ago and teams like Portsmouth, Luton have been down and are now reborn. I just hope after a few years of absolute shite we can get on an upward curve again.

Goodbye all. Spoke to a few people this season I'd like to call friends.
Sad that we are now consigned to that horrible match day thread! But hey, I could stand for mod and allow it!
Hopefully see you soon

Your owners are knobs. Been there done that, had a cracking conversation with your fans before and after the game, what’s happened to you it’s shambolic and you’ve a genuine set of fans.

What’s the deal with him? He said he’d take you into admin in the summer. Has this been sorted or still the case?

If we stay down port vales actually an alright trip and you’ve decent fans.

It's pretty much a done deal that he's sold the club to our next door neighbour who runs a business with nearly 400 employees. It's the only decent thing he's done.

I've had dealings with the company that is buying us and they're a highly professional well run outfit. They know how to market themselves, they know how to create an offer to customers and also they run a conferencing facility. I'd be amazed if we aren't successful in the next few years.

Rumours that it will all be done Tuesday. Waiting on EFL clearance which had been delayed a couple of days. Admin is due tomorrow if not!

Smurfs now sniffing around Notts!

Times change... Lincoln as with Mansfield.
I remember us being 3-0 up against Lincoln in 15 minutes 8 years back and we missed a penalty after 4 minutes and the had barely 100 fans to see it.

Mansfield is another one really, other than 2003 last year and this was the only year they’ve been at our level for 30 odd years. Wayne Corden vintage of 2003 of course.

Both have had the right investment all be it from different sources and we’ve had to get used to not competing with that. Hopefully we’ve rid ourselves of that shackle and can start to recover. Today could easily have been us, that performance at Notts County when we had to avoid defeat and should of won luckily lit the touchpaper for us.

Oddly as it worked out we hit the required points target only a fortnight later and would have been safe six weeks ago when we hit the 41 point mark.

Notts relegation is a huge warning to others though. They can’t point at poor investment and were favourites to go up automatically so regardless of investment it has to be done correctly or can have devastating effects. Sad to see them gone as it’s a historic club in the EFL (the full time whistle was still in the air at the point the lardies were celebrating their new status at the oldest football league club!)

Hope they bounce back. Good club and losing them to Fylde or Salford is a travesty.

Just hope they make a wise choice on who takes over!

I’m pleased for you, as it goes to show what can happen to any established football club with a dodgy chairman - like we found out. I’m pleased you’ve never had to find out what the conference is really like!

I’ve been out in Lincoln tonight and if anyone says “it’s a hard league to get out of” one more time I’ll scweam.

Am I right in saying we’ll probably play Chesterfield Boxing Day and New Year’s Day next season? Sounds fun.

Yeah. Least you won’t get alfreton like we did. Lol.

The great thing about the conference is you’ve absolutely no idea what you’ve just signed up for. It’s like being blindfolded, handcuffed spun around and then expected to compete with clubs who will literally kick you off the park. If you think refs are bad in the league, well you’ve no idea

If it makes you feel any better we lost away 4-1 to Hayes and heading infront of 313 fans

Bad luck County, sad to see it happen after the class away day with had at yours this time last season, treated us very well that day.

Feels shite now no doubt and there will be dark days ahead when you realise what level you are at when limping to an insipid defeat against a part time side who are playing it like a cup final. Definitely get used to that! It took us a few years to fully "get" what Non League football was all about, although to this day I think the fact that we were "arrogant" (also get used to that word getting chucked at you!) was a bit over played, especially after that first season where it was a very fair criticism of us. As Laker said above, being humble is key and its important I think to assemble a squad of players who are just that.

Its not the end of the world as perhaps the way today played out for us has showed. Its an opportunity to get your house in order and get some momentum behind the club. What happened today for us is an extension of what John Still started it for us in that league and hopefully you can find someone to do the same for you. Good luck!

313? I’ve played in front of more than that. I’m pleased Alfreton aren’t in there any more, the thought of playing a pseudo pub team I’ve heard of is worse than the likes of Dover or Bromley.

Non-league is terrible when you're in it, no two ways about it, the only positive is that when you do come back up, and Notts will at some point, there is no better promotion in all of football.

Commiserations to Notts and their fans. Four years ago we dropped out the league after a defeat away to Plymouth. That day they secured a playoff spot and at full time brought the inevitable pitch invasion and celebrations.

The mood in the away end compared to what we were seeing around us was night and day. Close friends I’ve been up and down the country with following Tranmere were in tears at full time and trying to console one another. We thought this was the end, surely no way back. There is so many examples of us clubs who have had to hit rock bottom before you can begin to pull yourself together.

One thing you have to do now is stick with your club, they need you more than ever. As long as you have a loyal fan base that continues to pull in crowds of 5-6k you’ll be okay. There will still be tough times ahead but you’ll be back and better for it.

As for Plymouth I cast my mind back four years and now they’ve gone full circle and are back where they started. As for us? Who knows we may fully exorcise the demons of 2014/15.

Good luck, I’ll be following closely.

I think that was Histon, a village team from Cambridgeshire who are now back in the regional leagues.

They took zero to Wrexham for a midweek game.

No idea on the tannoy thing - certainly not something I noticed at all so maybe just wasn’t clear from the away end. The penalty was about as blatant as they get i though, your bloke just bundled into the back of CMS.

Anyway, fitting end really managing to lose 3-1 with a couple of comedy goals when we’re 1-0 up against a team in terrible form with nothing to play for. Someone worked out that we’d be in the play-offs if we’d kept hold of every lead this season - the team’s had absolutely no spine and no mental strength whatsoever, and they completely deserve to have been relegated.
Didn't say anything yesterday but I did think it was rather ironic that you went down conceding 3 goals, which is probably your most common goals against this season. That must have happened about 10-12 times and that's before the ones you've conceded more than that.

I admit it wankers i hate them

How can you hate NCFC? What about Chesterfield? They’re your rival after all. Plus you said you had friends who are Notts County fans!! So you can’t hate all of us

Do you have friends? Or is it just you and the old lady in Espana?
