Hopefully there is enough appetite to start a Phoenix club, long way back but at least they will be free of toxic owners.

Ollie Bayliss on Twitter is suggesting this may mean a reprieve for Ebbsfleet.
Stevenage chairman just seen heading to FA headquarters,he is arguing nobody should be getting relegated from EFL next season because of this.

I'm too lazy to research, but who owns Moss Rose? Always a trip to look forward to, Macc away, if you take away the actual football. I can only echo the thoughts of others: it's the fans, employees and volunteers I feel sorry for.

Macclesfield Town are a proper club, with a proper ground and proper fans. For me, they are exactly what football is about, and if they are no more, that's a shame for all fans of proper football.

Set aside all the ribbing about phoenix clubs; I'm sure everybody on here wishes a speedy return to professional football in Macclesfield. The smell of Bovril... The romance of the cup... Small boys, jumpers for goalposts... Enduring image... </ronmanager>

Sad day, as an Alty fan Macc have always been our fiercest rivals but I don't wish this on their fans.
Regarding the ground, this may not be upto date, but I know 1st hand that Macc paid £1 for the leasehold of the ground off the Council years ago so I suspect Almadi owns it, which is probably why he invested in the club originally.

Some dickheads on Deva Chat cheering this . What an embarrassing load of idiots they are. This is down to bad ownership. Like us they've gone with owners that should never be let anywhere near a football club despite what they achieved two years ago. I hope their fans can get it together and come back stronger.

Always the local people, employees and fans who suffer in these situations, also pretty bad for John Askey as thats an awful lot of money for a private individual to be owed, especially when not in the higher levels of football.
Terrible isn't it. I'm actually ashamed that a loyal servant to the club could be left so badly out of pocket. And the same goes for all the people still owed money. For me following the club was just a hobby but for others their livelihoods were being put at stake and it had to stop. Kind of relieved to see the club put out of its misery in truth, half a million isn't a huge debt in football terms but it was only going to grow over the coming season. Hopefully whatever's left of the club doesn't fall into the wrong hands. We'll see where we stand after the next few days I suppose.

I see Twitter seems to be blaming Gareth Bale for not donating his wages to the cause.

I'm sure a £500k gift from a Premiership club/player wouldn't be any use - they'd still have the same asset-stripping fucker running the show, and it'd no doubt go straight in his pocket.

It’s an awful situation for John as we know the club is very close to his heart too, but also the players and fans mostly, under Smurf when things looked bleak I felt sick and couldn’t sleep worrying about it, hopefully you guys have enough to keep the club going as a Phoenix if necessary.

What's it got to do with the EFL or FA? Surely it comes down to spending more than you have coming in?
Or having a crook as an owner who took out more in the expectation that he’d be left with a prime piece of land for redevelopment, once he’d transferred all their money, and made sure they couldn’t exist in their current state.

Big spending Macc? You ever heard anyone say that before? (Because there’s a reason why).

It could happen to any club and needs to be sorted out.

One of the same people has also said that he hopes our possible takeover results in the Racecourse getting houses built on it. We've all got our idiot fans though.

Most Chester fans seem rightly sympathetic to the Macc fans. No true football fan likes to see this sort of thing, and you lads know better than most what its like.

I hear the council bought back the leasehold in 2013, so no the club dont own it.

You don't have to spend big, to spend more than you have coming in- there's a reason for that too, we call it maths. :ds:

Bit of an exaggeration, I counted 2 posters who have a bit of a chip on their shoulder because some Macc fans started to get in to a habit of singing about Vaughan and us letting our club die yadda yadda during our more recent encounters.

Anyway, I've got nothing against Macc myself so wish them well. Been on the cards for a while though, I didn't think it would go much past that Kingstonian cup game. Done well on the pitch considering.

A real shame for the employees, fans and the town.
I think this is likely to keep happening to clubs now, the economics get harder every year. The Premier league have sucked money out the game overall and then put a transfer cap on signings from lower and non league clubs forcing them to sell their future prospects at a knock down price.
We ( Notts) have had dodgy owners too and been very close to going through more than once in the last decade.
It's easy to blame the owners, no doubt there are some shockers and we then blame the League administrators for allowing them to buy our clubs but the likes of Macclesfield, Bury and us are money pits with limited appeal, we take what we can get. The alternative is fan ownership, Notts tried this and it's death by a thousand cuts. No matter how well you run your club, how good the manager is at some point you need a financial boost to get success. The higher up you go the more money you need. Fans always say they're just happy the club exists but they're not. They moan when they don't get success and carry on moaning after the club reaches a higher level they can't sustain as it becomes the new benchmark.
Only when it's on the brink or gone do too many fans wake up to what they had and how good it was.
Good luck Macc, hopefully you don't have to lose the whole season before reforming next.

Sorry for the Macclesfield fans and staff. Just a question of who’s next, got vibes we’ll be facing that at some point.

And here's the misunderstanding of it all again. We've never "spent more than is coming in", but the majority shareholders has made the personal choice to take the "money coming in" for himself instead of paying the people he should do. The money has always been there, he has chosen not to use it the correct way.

Dunno what to really think or say right now, I'm one of the few that really seemed to understand and realise this was going to happen. Even now I see a big number of people just asking "will there be a phoenix?", "what happens with players", still just so ignorant to the fact one single person has made decisions to result in this.

He needs investigation and my hope right now is that he pays for the crimes he is quite blatantly trying to cover up. Failing that I hope someone just murders him.

Dreadful news, always enjoyed going to Macclesfield and they’ve always seemed a really sound club.

Obviously Covid can’t really be blamed for this, but I don’t think we’re alone at Notts in being very lucky that our own flirtation with oblivion didn’t happen this summer.

Yes ~~~ it's a case of the few idiots shouting so loud that they drown out the decent-minded people. I think the last of my many visits there was when we were losing 1-0 coming to the end of the game and ended up winning 2-1. One of Hobson's rare goals too. He did score some memorable goals.

Agreed. I think Macc have had some decent cup runs since this shyster has been in charge and I've always thought 'that'll give them a financial boost', but it doesn't work like that if the man at the top is trousering the money.

Thankfully I've been golfing and heavily drinking at Celtic Manor this week so not had chance to really be bothered by this!

Terrible news. This has been on the cards for years because of how their owners uses them.

Why did Askey hang around so long if he was owed that sort of money? Are you guys expecting Alkhadi to stump the money up now he's gone past the stage of an ultimatum or is that winding up order the absolute end now?

The company no longer exists as a result of the winding up. All over.
