We haven't won for 14 games and it won't change here. We will probably struggle to fill a bench again or we will make it up with youth players. We conceded the most goals in the FL last year and we've already conceded the most this year so I expect to concede a few here.

Macclesfield 2-0 is my prediction

*Macclesfield

Luckily for Scunthorpe scoring goals isn't exactly our specialty. But I'm hopeful we'll have learnt from Tuesday's mugging against Morecambe and be a bit more clinical in the final third this time round. I suggest keeping the wing backs on their correct sides would be a good start.

I'll go for a 2-1 silkmen win.

Not sure what you're talking about :shifty:

Luckily for you guys out speciality is giving away goals. I didn't have Cheltenham down as big scorers and they put 4 past us. If you score one, you'll score another in very quick succession.

Sounds like us when we dropped out of League One - we actually used to look half decent a lot of the time and then just as you were thinking we probably deserve to be in front, we'd concede two or three in a ten minute spell and the game was out of sight in the blink of an eye. Capitulating became some sort of second nature.

This had better be a promise.

We've a tendency of going between extremes, what has been a promising start could very easily turn into a 3 month winless run! Need to keep picking up some wins to make it a little more comfortable come March/April next year.

I am sure Paul Hurst will get the Scunny defence sorted out sooner rather than later and you will start to climb up the table in the next few weeks once you get everyone fit again.

We've actually looked ok in the first half. 13 shots and really should be ahead. Very typical of us to play ok and then fall apart in the second half and lose 3-0

And there we are. Don't deserve to be losing but we are due to a stupid defensive error, so typical.

As said above Scunthorpe should really have scored a couple in that first half but really folded after half time. We weren't great but fairly steady throughout, especially in a short spell in the second half when we scored. Hardly a classic but we'll take the win and forget about the performance.

Yes the Hurst speciality - sorting out a team in disarray with limited resources and once he's done it continuing with the same tactics in a risk-averse way. Scunthorpe will not be relegated with him as manager. But whether he will survive the itchy trigger finger of the chairman is another matter...

Summed up our season so far really. Should have been ahead at half time easily, missed all of our chances. We then give away a needless penalty and before that Macclesfield hadn't really looked like scoring. The second they put the pen away, the game was only going one way. As soon as we fall behind, the team just gives up and folds.

Not a spectacle. Fairly even. Should have been 0-0, but our left "he who cannot defend" fullback handed Macc a penalty. We were brighter than of late, but faded badly second half. An expected result for me, but closer than I thought it would be.

Is the ex-Gainsborough chairman Swan still at Scunny?

Last season it took until the end of November to get above 9 points.

Progress.
Well done Macc on your great start to the season. Despite your off-field problems you're winning games. Any news on Elliot Durrell? If we had him in this Chester team I would be confident of promotion.

Don’t worry Scunthorpe, you’re at home to us next. We haven’t won an away game in the league since January.
