Can't wait for the next game watching Notts at the moment. Should be a decent gate as all season ticket holders recieved a Christmas card from the club with an additional free ticket voucher for this match. If Grimsby were to bring 1000 we could potentially be looking at 8000 crowd as over 500 tickets have also gone to local schools.

Notts are flying at home and incredibly if we avoid defeat against Grimsby and Cambridge we have only lost once at home in a calendar year with Nolan as boss which is frankly incredible. Hoping for a home win and keep accumulating points to keep momentum going.

No idea how the game will go as good as we have been Grimsby are a side we always seem to struggle against.

Roll on Saturday.

Three wins on the bounce now and a little bit of belief in the players and supporters has made a huge difference. Expect nearly 2000 of us to watch all our good work over the last few games crumble to nothing.

Hope I am wrong, but I am expecting the worst.

Almost 1000 tickets sold already. Not sure if it's all ticket or not but if not I'm sure there will be a few hundred who pay on the day. As BH said, I expect we'll have around 2000 there.

These next 2 games will be a massive test for us (Luton away a week on Saturday) and will give us some sort of gauge as to where we're at this season. No doubt confidence will be high after 3 wins on the bounce but Notts look like a very good team this season, so it's going to be a stern test. Offer me a point now and I'll bite your hand off.

Grimsby always bring a healthy away following. Fair play if you bring 2000 the week before Christmas we wouldn't bring that even in our position. Sadly though you'd need another 2000 if your to top the bandwagoners Lincoln managed. Although unlike them I doubt your fans will be playing hide and seek and go missing if you fall a goal behind.

I doubt you lot would be as bitter either apparently they deserved the 3 points and the red card spoilt the occasion or something...

I keep expecting us to come unstuck in one of these home games against sort of upper mid-table teams down (we’ve only played Accrington and Lincoln of the top seven at ML), but we keep coming through and winning them fairly convincing.

I still think that if we fall behind at home it’d be possible to massively frustrate us, as FGR did a bit, but then again we did have that fantastic comeback against Bristol Rovers. Generally if we score first we seem to go on to win fairly comfortably at home.

I think we’ll score but I’m expecting us to lose. Love the Notts away day though. Pretty sure the fixture people have put it at this time of year so we take less fans to avoid trouble. Can’t remember any issues last year though?

It is still a 3pm kick-off isn't it. I'm surprised that the Notts plod havn't insited on it being an early kick-off like the Mansfield game was.

They’re generally fine with us, is only ever the two games against Mansfield that get moved to lunchtime (and even the home game they allowed as a Friday night one a couple of years back).

Slightly surprised our trip to Lincoln in a few weeks has been left alone, though.

A coked up, middle aged Grimsby fan hit me with a bit of tree, but I think that was the height of any disorder. I doubt this fixture comes anywhere near high enough on their priorities to warrant special attention tbh, is no real needle at all.

Yeah I guess there’s been no special attention from the police for this game like there normally is for our other local games.

I’m just glad we’ve finally found some form or else we’d have struggled for 1000!

Pretty shit luck to come up against 2nd and 1st (both away) in consecutive weekends.

I think if win on sat we join arsenal with most home wins this season so far an it' only one defeat in about 20 odd home games since Nolan has been in charge as for the game I think we will win by an odd goal in 3 yes Grimsby have won the last 3 but win seem to find a way to win at home weather comfortably or ugly. Swindon have us and Luton in the space of 4 days over Christmas if we are still the top 2

Slightly wary of Grimsby's wingers, Dembele v Carl Dickinson (for all his improvement this season) is a tad frightening on paper, but we coped well with the pace of Luton, and Swindon before that, so hopefully it'll be ok.

And there must be some kind of old age record set in this game for the (likely) front two versus centre-back pairing - Stead, Ameobi, Clarke and Collins are a ridiculous 141 combined. Hopefully Grant can take advantage of another ageing player, Munto legend Ben Davies, and score his customary 1 or 2 at home. I can't see us keeping a clean sheet though, so I'll go 1-1 or 2-1 Notts.

Our twitter says we've sold out of our second batch of tickets and another batch should be arriving today, don't know how many that is though?

Fair play our chairman stated we are hoping for 8500 which is brilliant considering the time of year and the fact a year ago we were struggling to get 4000 on a Saturday shows how far we have come.

This is the sort of game we do seem to usually raise our game for so I'm hopeful of something out of it, I fancy us to score first but then get pegged back and be hanging on for dear life at the end as you pummel us looking for a winner. Thankfully after this game our fixtures are much easier with Luton Mansfield and Accrington after that. :bl:

Latest from the club is over 1200 tickets sold by 5pm today. Maybe a bit optimistic saying 2000 but I'm sure there will be a good 1500 there, especially if you'll be able to pay on the day.

So there will now be sniffer dogs, checking for flares. Again, don’t see how it’s necessary, seeing as we’re taking a lot less than last year!

Seems a bit over the top. I don't get smoke bombs a little puff of smoke which lasts for seconds doesn't negate a ban which lasts for years. Amazes me how many are willing to take the risk with them. Each to their own.

Probably as much down to us as your lot that - Notts have just made a bit of a show of banning someone who let one off at our cup game against Bristol Rovers the other week.

We had the same against Mansfield, although smoke bombs still made their way in.

We've had 3 or 4 sets of away fans set them off at SB this season.

Last week one of our fans was banned from Adams Park for sneaking in a smoke bomb despite all the warnings from the club,he's also got a day in court as he was pissed up as well. Was risking a 3 year ban worth it to let the bloody thing off?

Pay on the gate now so that should swell the away numbers hopefully.

With Grimsby expected to bring around 1500 an 8k gate certainly seems realistic. It's hard to think how far we have progressed in a year actually enjoying watching my team has been a bizarre novelty. In previous years by now protests are in full swing with messages being scribbled on bedsheets by the Meadow Lane faithful and Christmas had become the season of discontent. Even a defeat wouldn't leave us with a need to sack the manager or need to be worrying how the likes of Crawley Morecambe and Barnet are getting on and whether we have dropped into the bottom two.

1500-1700 expected to travel. That's not bad but this time last year we took over 4000 to Doncaster. Obviously that was a new ground but there weren't that many going to tick a box, surely? We're doing better in the league this year, off the back of 3 wins and Notts is a cracking away day, much better than Donny. Obviously first season syndrome had a lot to do with it, as well as Donny being our nominated "rivals" for the season, but can't help but feel some are not going due to their dissatisfaction with Mein Fuhrer Fenty. Maybe I've just been spoilt with our away followings over the last 5 years or so and 1500 is actually a decent following

As for the impoetant bit, I'd be delighted with a point. If Sladesisace picks the same team, Dembele has a good game and the defence remains solid, I don't see why we can't.

Doncaster is much easier to get to from Grimsby than Nottingham, especially on the train.

Not that much easier. Certainly not the difference between going and not going.

Doncaster 1 hour no changes. Nottingham 2 hours at best, most trains 3 hours, min 1 change. I would say that is a major difference and would definitely be the difference in going or not going for a lot of people.
