I still can't believe that Man Utd are in the top 4 despite their poor run. Just goes to show how poor the Prem has become.
They're 5th.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Yep, time to go. Slightly better results than Moyes (what an accomplishment), yet somehow far less entertaining football. The game has passed LVG by, he's trying to play the football Barcelona played four iterations ago and he's failing miserably.

Give Giggs a go until the end of the season please, I don't want to go from this brand of dour football to Mourinho's if that is the likely next option.

As I said when he was given the job.. Everyone made a great deal of fuss about the successes he has had as a manager. And he certainly had had a great career, but almost all of his actual success came in the last millennium and he's spent s lot of this one so far in international football. There was always a question mark over his ability to manage a top club in a country where he's never managed before.

Were fans really chanting for Jose Mourinho at this game today? radio claimed they were. Mourinho isn't known for exciting expansive football so am surprised some think that is the answer, given how a lot of the criticism seems to be a lack of attacking intent from Van Gaal? I think they really need to get the next appointment right, regardless of if LVG sees out this contract or not. The shocking thing about the investment, is that if you were the manager taking over there and were asked what figure you would need to challenge for the league and champs league semi finals. Then I would imagine it would be a pretty sizable figure.

Twitter seemed to think it was the Norwich fans taking the piss.

What United need is a manager with balls, balls big enough to sub a keeper before a penalty shootout, someone who's managed a big club like Bayern Munich.

I am a big believer in my point of view that I don't believe that a manager needs to stand and shout on match days, what are they effectively having a control over by doing that? but the motionless nature of Van Gaal is pretty odd.

It shows a bit of leadership at the very least.

Lots of red seats on show, I note.

Especially at the end. One goal down at home and United's fans leave before the end. DAMNING INDICTMENT, either of LVG or Modern Football.

It's been an interesting watch with United so far this season.

We had an injury crisis at the start of last season, it took us till December to field our best 11, for a long time the only central defence partnership that played more than one game together was Rojo and McNair. So we sell on half our squad players... with more games to play than last season... A few injuries and our team reads like one of Fergie's Mickey Mouse Cup teams.

The style of football is piss poor, going forward and going back. When we attack, we look scared to take a chance, and when we get chances we never seem to have the quality to finish it. When we defend, we don't defend as a team, we don't press properly to win the ball back. I was watching the game yesterday and 3 times we lost the ball around the halfway line and you could see other than a Smalling and Young, we were jogging, barely trying to get back and put pressure on. It's like we expect a few players to do all the work for us. Chris Smalling in the dying minutes running up the pitch to get on the end of a cross, not just against Norwhich but at least a dozen times in games I've seen. Why is he having to do that? The chances he's been on the end of in the last few minutes, game after game, if that's Hernandez or Van Persie those are going in the net and nobody would even be talking about Van Gaal right now.

I don't believe that sacking Louis to bring in Jose is going to fix the style of football, or that it's the best decision to make in the long term. I don't think it's the right time to give Giggs the reigns, it's still a bit early for that. But there needs to be a change, there has to be. Maybe it's a change of system, maybe it's a change of mindset, maybe it's a change of personnel (wouldn't mind buying a new striker in January), or maybe it's a change of management.

Wow, a completely different story to the time I went to Old Trafford previously and saw us lose 4-0 in the League Cup without even registering a shot on goal.

I'd written off this game, and the next one at Spurs, but it just goes to show you can get a result against anyone this season. And to be fair, given how we've been against the other top sides this year, that had been coming.

I still can't wait for January to arrive though. We need to bring in several players.

No it hasn't.
Oh, right. Burn.

I was more talking about how I've been watching United completely crumble in a few months from a team that could maybe challenge for the league into a team that seems barely capable of making top 4, and how the hell it's all gone so wrong.

But no, read the first line of my post, and you're right. It hasn't been interesting to watch. It's been fucking dull.
