As for Lingard, I remember watching him a fair bit for the youth sides, which shows he is too old to be classsed as a youngster. He's always been a good player without any defining star qualities. But he's pretty quick, clever , very good first touch and knows how to finish. I believe Ferguson always expected him to make it and I'm inclined to agree. He'll never be first name on the team sheet but he will be an important first 16 player capable of filling in across a variety of roles in midfield and the forward line whilst maintaining a degree of productivity.

Rooney was pretty good today. One touch he took before half time was unreal. If he carries on we'll be much better for it.

I think yesterday showed again why the cirticism is far too harsh. West Brom had no intention of leaving their half at any point till we scored. You cant blame them as we have obviously shown a weakness playing teams who park the bus but it can be difficult to create chances against defensive teams. Teams tactics against us, City included are playing a large role in the dullness of our games.

Another 3 points away from Chelsea, top 4 should be a certaity this year. I think we'll finish comfortably third. If we can throw in a good run in the FA cup and Europe I'll be pleased. I'm still behind Van Gaal
