whilst no-one knows what contract he'll be on it's a certainty that you're right on both the payrise and budget.... obviously he's more interested in money than ambition

Is going to a team who may get promoted in a lower league less ambitious than being with a team in a league above who may well struggle? You could argue that Bradford are more likely to be able to get to the Championship than Morecambe. It could be long term ambition that makes Bradford a reasonable gamble.

I keep reading others say he’ll be under pressure/fans will want him out should he start slowly but I disagree. From a fans point of view we’ve brought in someone who knows how to get out of this league (four promotions to his name?), literally just taken a side up, who’s stock has arguably never been higher, if anyone can, this guy can. From the clubs point of view, I feel Ryan Sparks, the CEO, has gone all in on this appointment, it’s his man who we have coveted for a long time now, I don’t see him getting rid at the first dip given the time and effort given to securing Adams.
A very solid appointment, no doubt the best CV of any manager we’ve had in sometime and must be seen as a step in the right direction.

if you give him two full seasons I am pretty sure he will get you to league 1. In his first year with us we got to the play off finals. He said at the time he learnt lessons, and he clearly did. You need to give him time to make mistakes in year one if need be.

Feel a bit for them, but very weird that the Morecambe directors would allow him to speak to Bradford before the season was over. Adams knows what he's doing - he doesn't want a relegation or a sacking to his name so the time was right to leave - the only surprise is that nobody in League 1 wanted to offer him what Bradford are offering.

He has a relegation to his name. But I get your basic point, there is certainly a clear rationale to the move.

Yeah, I meant that a promotion push with Bradford is better on his CV than a sacking or a relegation with Morecambe when they struggle next season. Plus he'll have a nice fat pay increase...

Morecambe pretty much in a similar situation to us last summer, got promoted then a "bigger" club comes in and nicks the manager and one of our better players gets his head turned by his agent... How long did Adams have left on his Morecambe contract? I hope Morecambe have the sense to get a clause stopping Bradford taking their players - like we did when Evatt joined Bolton.

Edit - according to Nixon he had 1 year left on his Morecambe contract.

Reading a selection off other posts, the seem to welcome his appointment? But a think after watching 30 percent possession he won't have a lot off time .

Players don’t always get a choice. Just listened to a Podcast by Paul Caddis, who we’ve just binned off. He said Doyle wanted to stay at Swindon but wasn’t given the choice. We signed Pitman instead who probably cost about the same in wages. Madness.

Doyle said the exact opposite. He said he was offered an extension by Swindon that he had to turn down because he was tired of making the 3 and a half hour trip and being away from his kids all the time as he’s based in Liverpool.

Oh I agree with that. Our owner before our current ones was a complete scum bag. New owners are fantastic.

If you offered deals to the others why would you not have offered a deal to your top goal scorer who has a 1 in 2 record in league 1...Even on reduced terms or later than it should have been? We offered him a 3 year deal (which at 32 I thought was a risk). Can’t imagine you guys did. If he’d genuinely wanted to stay I reckon he would have. I’m glad we did get him either way. He’s a great leader in the dressing room and he presses really well. And he scores plenty.

Sounds like at Plymouth they played some decent football .

Whatever the style is if he gets Bradford promotion they probably won’t care .

He did both afaik but he had pure pace on the wings with Argyle in League 2 and same with Us this season

It was not horrible football, we had Carey and Lamerias after all. Indeed, at points, such as the bizarre league 1 run when we went from bottom to play off contenders was brilliant. But I think the approach, especially away, was not to lose first. He tended to play a single forward up front as a target man. It was a sort of 4-3-2-1 or even sometimes a 4-3-1-1-1, or 4-4-1-1. He really did not like two up front, which means he has very particular requirements of a striker. If Bradford have not got a target man who can hold the ball, you will soon.

The key thing for me was that we had a very organised defence, it felt like the middle 4 were supporting the back 4, so as if we had two banks of four. Yann played a key role, he is really a CB, as an almost fifth defender in front of the back 4. Even Carey and Lamerias were expected to defend.

Del Boy was very good in his recruitment, getting players like Sonny Bradley no one rated and turning the ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. A criticism some had was that he did not bring on youth - I am not totally sure we had them.

he may well play your youngsters. Some fans had academy favourites, and they got little game time. But I think Adam’s realised they were not good enough, and the one he did play we sold for 300k.

I am liking everything I read and hear about Adams to be honest. Bottom line is he is a proven successful manager and I can't wait to get started under him.

Cook has slimmed down a lot from the player I recognised from his days playing against us for Walsall. He ended up our top scorer despite only signing in January

Ha, I was referring to his height - presumably he's around 6ft? He always had the appearance of being a bit overweight, but I don't think he ever was.
