Well i'm a bit surprised ardley has taken a job so quickly. He looked jaded and in need of a good rest .It will interesting to see how he does at notts county. His 6 years with wimbledon would best be described as average at best.Yes he got us promoted and the first season in league 1 was decent. The last 18 months 2 years have been preety awful to be honest. In truth he should've gone at the end of last season.
He should certainly have been sacked 5 or 6 weeks ago.At any other club he would've been, but being an ex wimbledon p!ayer the board buried there heads in the sand and did nothing. At the start of the season ardley said it was the best wimbledon squad that he had put together!!!! I can honestly say there is not one player in that squad that i would be bothered about losing. His recruitment over the last 2 seasons was appalling. The fact that the loan market changed didnt help him either. He couldn't correct his mistakes.
In saying this he is a decent bloke who will give it his all.

I can picture the interview with Campbell now:

‘So Sol, I saw you quoted recently as saying that you’d happily get paid no wages just to take your first step into management, if that still stands you’ve got the job, if not then fuck off.’ :bg:

Think he did and did well didn't he?
He did, although he had a very big budget to play with. Campbell (or whoever the next manager is ....if we appoint one at all) will have nowhere near the same backing.

It’s offical.

Welcome Neil to Meadow Lane, and the World’s oldest professional football club. I truly hope you are still here come the end of the season having maintained our football league status#streak

Good luck everyone

So there's a new coach at Meadow Lane and Yardley's got the job?

Poor old Neal - he gets his name spelled wrong more often than Morecambe on these forums............

...or was it Nell Yardley?

So with Campbell keeping Macclesfield up, who is going down to the NL with Notts County.

Perhaps it's not the best thread for it as it's news of a manager staying and I know I'm several days late, but I find Yeovil's decision to give Darren Way a new contract a bit baffling.

They are perennial bottom 6 finishers, got knocked out the FA cup by a Conference North and have only won 1 of their last 9 games. Why exactly did the board feel it was a good decision to extend his deal and not do the exact opposite?

With what he’s got facing him I don’t blame him one bit.

200 applicants, 8 seriously considered , and then down to 3 for interviews and now 1.

Always an attractive job even in the current embarrassing mess.

I'll explain this for the third (?) time, but I'm not sure how else to do so. I politely asked you to stop posting as this notion of "who cares?" offers absolutely nothing. If "who cares?" is the extent of your input then we may as well close the forum.

I never said I was certain about anything. The fact that I was seeking concrete proof (which hasn't been provided) suggests that too. It was the Notts fans using phrases like "definitely had two interviews" and suggesting people were "talking tripe" for raising such questions that seemed more certain.

SOC, I was wrong! This is going to blow your mind chap. Paul Hurst didn’t in fact have two interviews for the NCFC job, he had 3 (THREE).

That news is hot off the press, sorry for misleading you. In summary, 3 not 2*

* still haven’t had the word on who turned who down.

One of our joint caretaker managers Neil Howarth has been sacked. Presumably clearing the way for a new manager to come in....

Come on don't stop there, you forgot the interesting bit.

It was done by a phone call, an hour before yesterdays game, allegedly at the request of Sol Campbell. With the chairman then storming out the ground in protest against the decision - though time will tell if that is actually a good thing!

Thought the Sol Campbell to Macc thing was a joke, but apparently not. Whatever Mr Campbell’s personal attributes, how many famous ex England internationals have ever been successful in League 2?

Paul Ince at MK Dons is the only one I can think of, but there must be others .

Ince came in a saved us from an even worse position than we are in now well before he went to MK.

John Askey had said on GMR (Manchester radio) this evening that he would come back to Macc if the circumstances are right, by which he means just better communication from the chairman.

If the people running the club have got just a single brain cell between them they should have been on the phone to him as soon as he left the studio tonight.

Believe me we are furious about it. The biggest chant on Saturday was "Two more years you're having a laugh". He's done absolutely nothing to warrant an extension. Also the strong rumour is that our main sponsor have said they will pull out completely if Way is sacked. No idea why though.

The only reason Way has kept his job is he's the cheap option. Also the board will never sack him as he's a yes man and won't kick up a fuss. The negative feelings towards him from the fans is overwhelming but it won't make any difference whatsoever.

I really have no idea what is going to happen from here on in. Guess i'd best just buckle up and enjoy whatever ride it is we've been queuing up for!

Baffling on all counts. Maybe being at one of the smallest clubs in the football league will teach Campbell some humility. Or maybe he'll do what he did when he signed for Notts County as a player and take charge of one game before thinking 'fuck this for a laugh, I'm off'.

I don't like him for a number of reasons, but I do admire him for taking this job. Just not sure what he's hoping to achieve out of this. Maybe he keeps Macc up, but what are the chances this total novice as both a manager and of League Two football actually turns them into a solid mid-table side or better.

As for Macc, whilst I get not going for one of the tried and failed options on the unemployment line, appointing a total rookie who knows very little about management, even less about League Two and someone who looks like a total head case to boot. Bizarre.

Hard to see a happy ending to this, but who knows.
