Think Flynn is one of those who's face fits the picture at Newport. Not sure he'd do so well elsewhere.

This is of course based on nothing but my own gut feel.
It’s generally perceived round these parts that Lenny Lawrence has played a big part in the clubs relative success since Flynn took over. Not sure Lenny would relocate to Lincoln at his age. Having said that it’s only a matter of time before Flynn moves on but just hope it’s next season after he’s given promotion a good crack this season. Achieve that and better offers will come along for sure.

Really ? When did that happen ?
Midweek. I wouldn't be as worried as your forum are, there's still the second round of interviews to do.

Doubt anything will happen either way before Wednesday.

Seems our manager was approached by an unnamed club at the weekend. Anyone going to own up? Lincoln are under suspicion.

He fits some of the criteria here but I think we're further down the line with our appointment than looking to talk to more managers.

Our shortlist was 4, all of whom we'd spoken to by the end of last week. Second round of interviews started yesterday.

EDIT - Southend, maybe? Can't imagine it being Stevenage.

Glad Taylor turned down the approach from this club as he is building a good thing on and off the pitch. However, if he continues to do well more and more clubs are going to be interested and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his head turned. Plus we won’t stand in his way so we have to enjoy him while we have him.

Flynn talks now ended after the Club opted not to take it beyond his second interview.

Delighted Flynn is staying but only a matter of time before he moves on to bigger and better things. Will no doubt be a repeat the next time a L1 manager gets the bullet. All things considered it hasn’t been a great week for Lincoln. Maybe just treading water until Stoke relieve Jones of his duties ?

A poster on our forum says it was Mansfield after Taylor from Exeter?

Who knows whether it was us or whether it got far enough down the line for a job offer. Either way nice to see a bit of loyalty and I was slightly concerned whether Flynn could continue our upward trajectory. All the best for the season.

Yep and looking like Michael Appleton has emerged as one of the favourites with the bookies. Not sure about it if he got the job at SB to be honest.

'nice to see a bit of loyalty'? He was all ready to jump to SB. Lincoln turned him off after the second interview.
Won't be long before someone else tempts him and he's gone...

No way Stoke will go down the lower league manager route again, they are fuming with Jones and wouldn't dare risk it.
was Flynn in charge when you had the great escape a couple of seasons back ?

He means Lincoln might be after Jones if he becomes available.

Don't know if they're still distracted by the Flynn rumours but that was a very un-Newport like performance last night. Very open at the back and invited a lot of pressure.

Oops read it wrong. I went to the away game at Newport last week, they just came over as a no frills very organised side who grind out wins. Water tight at the back in the main.

Yes, took over early March when we were 11 points adrift.

Yes I didnt make that clear. I meant Lincoln holding out for Jones. No chance of Flynn getting that gig. Flynn was indeed in charge for the great escape season - 11 pts adrift of safety I think it was when he took over from Westley. Then we won 7 and drew 1 of the last 12 games of that 16/17 season, culminating in Mark O'Brien's 89th minute winner v Notts to keep us up and send Hartlepool down with Orient.
While Flynn is a bit of a hero in these parts I think most are aware that he has applied for other jobs further up the ladder over past season or two. Fair enough. When he moves on I would like to think he will leave on good terms.

If Dempster is actually here for Vale on Saturday I think it’s because we are yet to identify who we want.

I don’t even know who would become ‘caretaker manager’ because it used to always be Dempster!

Am I right in thinking Dempster was the one appointed literally minutes after Flitcroft left?

It was all made in one statement because Dempster was promoted from within, he was in charge of our academy.

Maybe sack Dempster and then get Dempster in as caretaker until a new guy is found?

A long shot I know, but perhaps Craig Harrison could be persuaded to leave Connah's Quay? A 5 minute talk with Mrs Radford might be all it takes after all.

Doubts remain though whether Mr Harrison will succeed at a club with a top 3 playing budget, 'cos I believe he never had that sort of luxury before.

Whoever Mansfailed appoint, whether it's the Chairman's choice, Steve Hymas, or the chairman's wife choice. The real question for me is will Mr Radford back the manager like he did with Fatboy Steve Evans? Or more sensibly at the Dave Flitcroft level? Or much more realistic John Dempster level?

Tbh shouldn't require any investment based on the current squad quality.

I’d imagine any budget is pretty much played out. Bit of tinkering in January like the rest of us.
