I guess again I'll be on my own but I though Newport were ok, they most certainly offered more than Crawley, their big concern like us last season was their attacking options, all over the place, when 1 on 1 in their main attack the last touch was shocking.

If Sheridan can address the forward line they should be alright

Didn't get his name, but had a pretty skilful midfield lad
I thought they were useless until they made some changes and on another day they could have got 1 or 2 but we went on to kill the game off.

I thought Newport were abysmal.

They came, parked the bus for the first 50 minutes and rarely properly threatened. I'd suggest that they had 3 chances in the game but were largely under the cosh.

I expected more from a side with a debutant manager.

We plugged away and scored 3 very well executed goals after huffing and puffing in the first half. Overall, an easier afternoon than envisaged.

Can't get carried away yet as the three wins in last three games have been against the bottom three teams in the league.

If we win against Pompey at Fratton Park in a fortnight and beat Wycombe at home the week after then I will be starting to believe.

We've a tough month to go, but the way we've played has been excellent. There are some big sides in this division and for a side like Mansfield to finish in the top 3 would be an astonishing achievement.

I do believe that if we play as we've played and carry on with injuries etc , we've an excellent chance of the playoffs on what's been displayed so far

I don't expect us to be in the top 3 come May. Injuries will hit us as much any team in the top half. The important thing is that we are dispatching the strugglers, who for the first half of the season should be looked upon as our direct competition, as in our previous 2 years we've skirted dangerously with relegation.

Getting to 50pts is first priority, anything else is a bonus, including the wonderful fashion and freedom that we are currently playing in.

Play offs are a big possibility, however, in a long old season that still applies to the majority of the division.

Mansfield were more than worthy winners today.

I thought we looked a little bit more threatening when Boden and Rodman came on. But then Benning hit an absolute beauty (one of those you have to applaud, even if it goes against you) and the game was up.

Portsmouth next for us! :err:

That was probably Mark Byrne? I can't think of anybody else that would fit the description!

This is really random, but I signed him on FM2015 for my Sutton United team that I got from conf south to league 1. Quality player! Kept him all the way till I got bored of the game.

Also Newport fans, do you think that your poor start to the season has something to do with releasing Christian Jolley? Would you take him back in hindsight?

Jolley will always be a hero at Newport, but unfortunately it just didn't seem to work out for him once we went up into League Two. I believe he's at Margate now.

In hindsight we released too many from last years squad. I know the budget had to be reduced etc but we could have kept a couple of the lads especially someone like O'Connor who can still find the net.

I'd actually love to see us ask Rene Howe if he want's to come back as he still isn't playing for anyone is he?

Agreed, despite the start all will still be wanting to get to 50. That it would take a complete disaster for us to go down now shows what an excellent season we've had so far.

What is encouraging is that Murray didn't spend all his money in August and radford has confirmed there will be money available in January.

Personally I think it is early days to be discussing the P word getting those 50 points is the most important thing and making sure we are a football league side I don't think any side can really be saying until after the Christmas / New year period which usually decides who is going to be at the sharp end come the end of the season

The two areas which have pleased me have been the defence and how spread out the goals have been around the team seeing as we have 10 different players who have scored this season.

I'll take 50 points. We are playing well at the moment and without wanting to sound negative we have not beat any of the top sides yet. Although draws with 1st and 3rd place were very good.

Too early to be talking Play offs though. If we can mid Feb then i'll be over the moon!

I don't think we are that good to be honest.

Would be anomalous if we were that good, in my time watching at least. And long before too, let's be right.

Finished 3rd in early 2000s. Playoffs <lost in the> two seasons later after being awful and coming straight back down. Nowt for over ten years (apart from relegation ofc) until <obvs losing in the> Conference playoffs then winning it the season after. To get back to where we were when I started.

That's it in my time. We've been mostly average to shit, and hardly ever top 7 or above in this div. Top ten this season and the promise of building on that next time round would be grand for us, looking historically.
