Typical Nors game, pointless booking and a goal.

Andy Cook is such a quality striker. Always impressive when I've seen him and always scores.
I must admit, despite him looking like an unfit question mark, he does the job without fuss or fanfare and he's won me over.

Well in Tranmere. Sort of gritty performance you need in the back end of the season when it gets tough. Think us and FGR are too up and down possibly to be champions. Looks like a 2 horse race.

he certainly is. micky mellon was very brave starting without him, but obviously wanted to reward stockton for his hat trick on saturday. at 1-1, brabin would have kept stockton on the pitch and played for the draw, mellon knew what needed to be done for the win, and did it.

No problems with that. Tranmere overcome the conspiracy, good that they made themselves fighters instead of victims. Not every side in the division can do that.

I have been impressed with how Mellon is willing to adapt when things aren't going right. It was 0-0 at Woking and he changed the formation at half-time to combat ours. Your lot won 3-0 in the end.

Best substitutions EVER in a game of football.
Yep, can't remember the last time a team put 3 subs on and they all scored. What a result. It's ON.
Not even talking about the ref, it's the same every week.

Said at the start of the thread what the result would be. Battled hard but a few too many out of position and a Conference North player at best at the heart of our midfield.

The fan who was receiving medical attention at the start of the game on the Harry Mac has sadly passed away. R.I.P

Can we get this confirmed? Had a fake death at Prenton Park. Terrible if true.

Didn't a Chester fan die at our home fixture too? It puts it all into perspective.

Some things put a simple game of football into perspective, whilst i was screaming at my telly over a poor penalty decision that in the grand scheme of life is pretty meaningless, this poor chap was fighting for his life in the stands: rip mate, deepest sympathy to his family and the chester city football family..... some things are bigger then winning a football match.

Saddened to hear of the Chester fan who passed away during the course of the game, puts all else into context. RIP

One positive from tonight from our point of view was that the game passed without incident, giving hope that the bubble v Wrexham may be burst next season (hopefully).

There were some OTT celebrations from a section of Tranmere fans but that was it and to be honest the majority of Chester fans were too busy chuckling at the 'Birkenhead is wonderful’ chants to care. ;)

The refs in this league might not be the best, a bit like the players, but they aren't biased.

Every team in this league gets their fair of shit decisions.

I agree mate they certainly are not bias however what i think, and its only my opinion , is they are so scared of being seen to show bias toward the big ex league clubs they are actually over compensating the other way and giving every marginal, and not so marginal against us.

The refs should ref the games as they see them and not have any preconceptions about not wanting to show bias toward the big club. If you thought last night ref was bad you should have seen the fool we got against bromley!!

Enjoy todays game chris

Fair enough, agree the pen was a shocking decision although you gotta question the assistant more then the ref on that one, he should be in line to see it better.

Cheers, reckon I will we owe Macc one after their flukey Trophy win.

Firstly, RIP to the Chester fan that died last night and condolences to the family. Terrible news to hear.

With regards to last nights ref, although he did seem slightly bias towards Chester, arguably we could/should have gone down to 10 men 5 minutes into the game as the Chester player was through on goal when he was brought down for the penalty. Jay Harris could have walked later in the game also.

Thought we had a lucky escape last night, crazy not to start Cook but I think both him and Norwood have proved a point and should be in the starting 11 until the end of the season. Cracking game though, the football on show was scrappy at times but you can't complain seeing 5 goals, coming from behind to snatch a last minute winner. Makes a change from the normal 1-0 bore fest we normally get when we're on telly.

Agreed. We'll lose. Although knowing us this season we could well beat you today but lose at home to Maidstone next week.

Can't help but feel our dire home form is partly due to the pitch not suiting us; it cuts up so much that passing across it in the 2nd half of games becomes a nightmare. Funnily enough that probably did help us in the trophy game vs FGR as they had to resort to going long in the air while we had the deflected goal to defend. As long as the rain hasn't knackered their organic pitch too much should be a much better spectacle than a month ago. Would happily take a draw.

Arguably we could/should have gone down to 10 men 5 minutes into the game as the Chester player was through on goal when he was brought down for the penalty.
A new rule came in at the start of this season that if a penalty is awarded because of a professional foul but a genuine attempt is made to play the ball then it is no longer a red card offence.
Had the referee correctly given just a free kick then it may well have resulted in a red card as well, so in the end ironically it was that terrible penalty decision which probably helped you out, as playing 85 mins 10 v 11 might not have ended up as well as it did for you.
