Just back from Ferriby, what a strange game. Ferriby generally play really well but they have a bloody awful defence and couldn't hit a barn door up top. How they didn't go one up when there was an open goal is a mystery. We went ahead with our first real attack and never looked back. Just carved them open like butter for each of the goals but it was a fairly even match over all. Gutteridge's goal was pure class.

Great little club, ever so friendly and I really enjoyed my trip. Hope they stay up but I can't see it unfortunately. Any team with anyone half decent up top will score.

Poor performance today compared to what we've been treated to over the Christmas period. Gateshead are a team based on a very strong defence with quick defenders. I can see them pushing for the playoffs now, but they don't deserve to get into the football league with their ground. Almost every team around us lost today, so we're still well clear of the relegation zone :bg:

Just about deserved win I think between two poor sides. Woking had a couple of chances from range at 2-1 down that were well saved by Dunn.

Izale McLeod goes in the contenders for Worst Debut Ever for me. Fell over so many times, grappling Woking defenders and screaming to the ref for free kicks, taking off with a mind of his own and back to ball as it comes towards him. Also looked like he pulled his hamstring and kept limping about.
Edit: he did provide a couple of lovely touches, one proved pivotal in leading to the second goal.

Sticky first 15 minutes but once we scored it was all one way traffic. Ferriby striker went around our keeper and somehow hit the side netting. No surprise they have only scored 14 goals all season.

We should have scored more late on but 0-4 is decent away.

Momentum is key just a shame we have no game next week. But rest for those that need it and more training for those coming back from injury.

Think this could be an interesting run in.

Its a wonder the ferriby keeper didnt chuck himself to the ground and roll around like hed been shot

What about Jennings?

Since we've actually won 4 of our last 5 (Boreham Wood, Woking x2 and Southport), I would question the accuracy of that form table
Sorry old chap I only focused on Guiseley
:giphy:

Oh and look closely you'll see it's home form ;)

Jennings was solid enough, found a man in front most of the time with passing.
Allowed Woking too much space on the right wing at times in the second half, but our whole midfield sat back with half an hour to go as well..
Takes a good corner too.

Only just recovered enough to post. How we contrived to lose today is beyond me. 1st half there was only one team in it and it wasn,t Chester.
We were so on top it was only a matter of time before we scored. I counted 10 corners to us only 1 for Chester and had we been 2 or 3 ahead it
would have been a fair reflection and game over. Still mystified as to what happened to us 2nd half, we weren,t the same team, although credit to Chester who realised they were still in the game and took their chances when they came.

Chester don't seem to know they are beaten this year. McCarthy has done quite an impressive job with limited means this season. Hats off to our neighbours.

I couldn't make it today but sounded like we just squeaked a win when a draw was possibly a bit more likely (just like Southport at home) . Still have no midfield but a few more sneaky home wins against our relegation rivals in the next few weeks and we should be fine. NFU next I think.

So apparently you're allowed to score five without letting as many in. Should do this more often. Funnily enough despite a bright start still thought we looked a bit wobbly at the back so was especially pleased that when Bromley pulled it back to 2-1 we scored again straight away and made it four a couple of minutes after. Expect they'll moan about the ref who did give us by far the bulk of the decisions but genuinely thought they were a lot more niggly. Sinclair had a blinder for me though I see Noble got give MoM but loads ofgood performances, including from Monthe back from injury. Thought Shams' first-time effort after he came on showed promise too though still no evidence he'll jump for headers. Happy days.

We've only lost one of our last ten away games while you've only won one of your last 10 home.
You should have had the game sown up at half time, but we controlled the second according to reports. Similar to our game at yours 2 years ago when Sean McConville (2) and our now assistant manager Chris Iwelumo scored second half goals.

Just back, from Solihull played really well and should have won by more good strong performance with to be honest there best player by a mile their keeper, interesting comments before about our ground being Shiite, which to be honest it IS because it's a athletics stadium, however Solihull s is a crumbling monstrosity which makes ours look like Wembley!!! As for the car park outside!! However a friendly bunch with a cracking club bars and the best pie selection since kiddie

Wouldn't disagree, I was getting fed up of counting all of those corners in the first half. We could have easily been a few down.

Impressive comeback after the break though, McCarthy switched a few things about and appeared to go 4-3-3 and we were much better then.

Good to get back to winning ways after a pretty dreadful festive period!

Fun little away day, even if there wasn't much going on in Ferriby (to be expected of a village of 4,000).

As C&B said, fairly routine victory for us but Ferriby were not without their chances. Should have gone one up at 0-0 when Widdowson's poor backpass (header) let in their forward. Rounded Justham but shot into the side netting which probably sums up Ferriby in front of goal this season. Arguably had a decent shout for a penalty soon after as well. Was far too easy going forward for us, especially with Fejiri who looked excellent this afternoon - really made things happen. Guttridge's goal the pick of the bunch but Hawkins's finish for the fourth was nice as well after good build up play. Comfortable in the end, but if Ferriby had someone who could score - as has been the issue all season - they might have made a fist of it.

Clubhouse was decent as well, even though we made the mistake of sitting in the area where the players come in after the match to have their food. (Steve Housham likes a pint and a plate of chips, FYI).

As suggested earlier, once again our total inability to defend, set pieces or for that matter any balls into the area cost us three points, even in truth they would have been undeserved, as frankly York just about deserved to win and quite how they are propping up the league, certainly on yesterdays performance staggers me.
On days like this our hoof ball style is just so easy to defend against, and if any team identifies then targets, as Mills did before the game and his team did during it, our absurd man marking policy it becomes so easy to drag us all over the park and for supporters it's both embarrassing and frustrating to watch
Despite our goal tally, more down to one mans finishing as opposed to any attacking philosophy on our part, it is becoming increasingly obvious that Kinnears lack of any tactical nous, any positivity in the way he approaches matches and the obvious absence of any plan B are being seriously shown up.
Our brilliant Chairman for all the money it would cost him, seems determined to keep Miller at the Crabble, certainly for the remainder of the season which is brilliant for us, but he must have been sitting there watching that questioning if his intent, his continuing commitment to the club in that respect is actually worth it, because on that performance, similar to many others gone before it this season the possibilities of cementing the play offs look a pipe dream.
However, if nothing else, we personify resilience, and hopefully we can bounce back Tuesday in the rescheduled game at Macclesfield, which frankly is like a free game to us, as before the referee and fog interfered with the original fixture, it was a game we were getting hammered in.
If we lose that one, and then the TV match at Lincoln, I think it may be possible that JP may well decide to change his view on our talisman and cash in, which would end our season there and then,so for all of us, four points from those two........

Just listened to CK's radio interview, and despite being our most successful manager, ever, the rhetoric he continues to use is banal and making him look stupid. York are a big team, we are just minnows, they flooded their team with defenders so it was hard to break down, another two goals shipped from set pieces...same old same old.
In Magri, we have an international CH who will playing that position against England in our qualifiers later this year, who he plays at RB (whilst continuing to play Orlu the most inept and untalented CH in the league in the middle) and at half time, takes Emanuel off even though he is on fire of late (like he can't play as a winger as opposed to the wing back role?) takes off our most influential CM in Moore and replaces him with Stephenson who simply does not have any influence in any game, and then worse puts Magri who I don't think has ever played there in centre mid and leaves Orlu on. If that is his idea of a Plan B, then God help us.
One win eight I think that is now and in the last five I think we have taken the lead five times and not won those games, but still he wont change things or more relevantly bring in more personnel.........rant over, sorry people

Pointless stats of the weekend - Yesterdays win was Wrexham`s 100th home win in the Conference

Aldershot`s win by the same scoreline was also their 100th win at home in the Conference.

We were crap on Saturday, seriously crap.

Let’s be honest, we didn’t stand a chance of scoring when our attackers were pinned down, held back and dragged to the floor whenever they got anywhere near the ball – the referee seemed oblivious to the rules and perhaps thought he was officiating an NFL game.

No excuses from me though, we were dreadful and deserved to lose. Orlu seemed oblivious to the fact that there was a game of football going on around him, Stevenson was (once again) an absolute waste of space and oxygen and without Arnold we would and should have lost about 5-2. The defending for York’s 2nd was nothing short of pathetic.

Perhaps if Ricky Miller was able to look up and pick out Lafayette instead of going alone every time we would have won the game. Agree with criticism of CK on this occasion – why take Moore off and leave Stevenson on? Why take Moses off when he was our most dangerous player? Why play Magri CM having just taken our best CM off? All strange decisions, but none as strange as his comment in the interview about York playing against Manchester United a couple of years ago (???).

I don’t doubt that we’ll turn it around and it’s just a blip but it was bleak. The booing at the final whistle was pathetic and unnecessary and shows the short memories Dover supporters have.

Credit where it’s due to York and in particular, Parkin who looked brilliant. I’ll be surprised if they go down given the ability that squad has, and I hope they manage to stay up. The 161 York fans were noisy too, and a decent number given their situation.

Sorry to say it but Jim Stevenson is the most ineffective player I've seen at Dover and I can't even argue with the stick he gets from the supporters. Can we have Bellamy back please Aldershot?

Since he's actually spent more time in the physio's room than on the pitch this season you can, great player when fit but that's no good when he spends 2/3 of the season injured.
