Don't say we didn't warn you Trannies. He spunked the biggest budget we had during our 9 year stay in the conference. When Clough left Burton, their results suffered and we had a chance to make up the goal difference as theirs was better than ours. And yet he was more interested in getting 1-0/2-1 wins even when playing poor sides. I'm told Luton fans also hold him in high regard ;)

I don't think it makes a difference, the 80% of the crowd who booed think differently though.

If he had taken the shackles off it would have been 5 or 6-0, Kidderminster couldn't handle Mangan at all who scored a very good goal. As above, he is holding back a good side.

So err, we won. I'm having a drink in Cleethorpes and it's just not helping get a hold of reality.

Ha!! Fell for our cunning plan. Let them think they've won the game and then hit them while they're getting back on the coach. Easy peasey. :ds:

We actually played well the first hour - should have had a few more than 2. Brabin's accountable for the last 10 minutes, as everyone in the ground could see the goals coming, and he did fuck all to change it. He seems to be a complete utter bottler so far, from what I've seen of him.

Wow, just how easy is this league? A goalkeeper, an academy player, an injured player, a new loanee and a 19-year-old on our bench today. A 19-year-old on loan thrown straight in at CB for injured Yakubu.

Rendell, Ricketts and Yakubu all injured. The very spine of our team. No panic, though. Garry Hill is God.

How does crowdfunding work exactly? I mean, if someone puts in a compliant saying their money wasn't put to good use, do they get their money back or something?

3-1 Halifax.....
Credit to the numbers of Barrow fans who made the trip today (aside from one moron with a banger) in good voice and have a song based around my favourite song from my raving days. Obviously they will feel rightly mugged but as others have said on our forum, in recent seasons we've had plenty of games where we left thinking 'how the hell have we lost that' so it's good to be the beneficiaries for once.

If we can get something out of the trip to Aldershot then the next three games after that give us a chance to finally start our season.

Not sure. Hurst should have told his team to try and score early today.

Good win for us, nothing spectacular as our midfield looks a bit weak but a solid defence coped well with Lincoln's ariel attack. Marwood should be back in a couple of weeks and he should add some pace on the left. Harder tests to come in September which will give us a better idea of what this team can do.

Hello there,

First post on here, been reading it for the past few months, thought id get involved!

Tough game for us today, Bromley showed that they will carry a threat in this league. We were fairly lucky to come away with the three points. Shocked to see Grimsby lose at home, don't know what's gone wrong there.

Scott Rendell injured? First I've heard about that.

Worried we might come to rue all these missed chances...

Should be at least 2-0 up, very annoying. They'll probably get a corner and pinch a goal while we continue to miss all these chances.

Habitual slow start by Grimsby. They'll be fine. People just like rubbing their recent results in the faces of those who were predicting am imminent league pissing after their good preseason.

What the hell is up with FGR? It's no fun if they are actually good. Bring Hockaday back.

Well that's hard to take, feels worse than a defeat. Harris, Hogan and Mangan pretty much ran the show for Tranmere today against a lightweight Kiddy outfit, that was until the introduction Singh.
Even worse, I've booked a day off to go to Welling and have already bought the train ticket.

LOL thought Brodie was rubbish?!
Got a feeling that'll kickstart our season. Already played 5 of the current top 7, and a few easier home games coming up over the next few weeks (Halifax, Welling and Macc) should give us at least 7, plus trips to Grimsby, Barrow and Tranmere where I reckon we can pick up at least 4 points.
Hoping we can get ourselves into the top 10 and see where it takes us.

Should have been a red and a penalty there. Blatant handball by Downes.

FGR and Eastleigh 1st and 2nd, what's going on? :surr:

Hurst and Brabin will start to feel the pressure today I reckon, will be interesting to see how both respond. Mind you, cocking up the first couple of months of the season stopped Grimsby winning the league last year IMO, so this is hardly new from Hurst.

Good win for the Macc Machine though, was worrying to see them in the bottom four.

I like the look of Wrexham, could do well this year. Should have been down to ten men in the first half though.

Seems to be the day of the shock as we actually won!

Alfreton 1 (Allan 81) Gainsborough Trinity 0

Our first win in 15 League Games!

It was poor game between two poor teams but I aint complaining a win is a win!

They were few chances in the game for either side. We were fortunate to not fall behind right on HT though as Trinity had a shot blocked on the line and then hit the post from the follow up.

But we dominated the second half without really carrying a threat. Leesley pulled an excellent save out of the keeper with 15 to go. and then after having a shot blocked on the line ourselves we finally broke the deadlock as Tom Allan headed home a Moyo throw to win it. He is our top scorer now too!

Cant fault the players second half they showed real grit and determination. One thing for sure you cant knock them for effort.

I am just praying this is the catalyst we needed to push on.

It's almost as if beating experimental L1/L2 sides in pre season doesn't mean anything once the league has started. Who would have thought that?
