Maybe, but I think it's a little harsh. You need to compare the players individually if your goal is to in fact make a comparison.

Bergkamp had a team with Vieira, Pires, Henry etc... I don't think Ozil has quite the same back-up.

Özil has won the World Cup and is proving himself as an exceptional player every week now, but Bergkamp won three league titles with Arsenal and will always be associated with success. History won't be so kind to Özil if all we get out of his era are a couple of FA Cups. Fabregas was brilliant for us but he's basically an emblem of failure, as the crown jewel in a team that couldn't win jack shit (even Chelsea fans may come to remember him more fondly for the trophies he helped them win last season).

Pagnell said he was 30 in 2 years. I took an educated guess at his age.

Even 27 shocks me. It doesn't seem long ago I was disappointed at his lack of impact in the latter stages of the European u21 tournament for Germany. His big game presence is still questionable.
