If we had even a slightly good defence we could have walked this division in all honesty, games like this, Hudders and Rovrum would have been won instead of drew for example.

I should have probably have been more thoughtful at the time, and the statement is wrong. Should have gone more like...

If we had even a slightly good defence, we would have made things much easier for ourselves and could have beat quite a few teams we didn't do. You didn't do bad at all, but your first goal for example was just mistakes by our defence and good anticipation by you. We do it time and time again, and if we didn't do it so often then we wouldn't be near this position and in a similar one to Watford's maybe.

They've been a crock of shite for months. Feel like a broken record but they have had just two performing players since January, Bent & Ince. Both loans, without them they'd be a distant 8th.

We've won 4 in 15. Scored 29 and conceded 27 in that time. This from what was the equal second best defence in the league beforehand.

Losing Martin and all three holding midfielders is the reason behind our downfall. Our already suspect defence has no protection, and is being exploited at least twice every game. We played a different back four every game ffs.

If it wasn't for Ince's goals, we'd be 8th on 71 points right now. God knows what without Bent's.

As I have said already, I was exaggerating at the time plus also extremely frustrated.

I wouldn't say we are awful though, we haven't done well at all recently based on our normal form. A number of factors have made it this way though - Defence being the biggest culprit. If we had a better defence though, we could have done so much better in the last 15 or so games. Injuries haven't helped, but we can only blame ourselves for that. Probably working too hard when training?

As for saying Bent and Ince are the only form players and we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are without them, isn't that the point of loans? To improve our team to help us cross the line. Of course getting players like that is a luxury to some clubs here, but we've done it in the sense to help us out. I get what you mean saying we would be bad without them, but that's exactly why you get loans, to help and cover the team.

I get that, and it's valid. Perhaps frustration on my part again too, all of a sudden you've become relevant to us again in terms of the run-in and it just grates knowing we'd be safely in the playoffs if you didn't have that loan market. If it didn't have the possibility of affecting ITFC I certainly wouldn't have as much of an interest, I have no shame in admitting.

You can't fault McClaren for the players he brought in to replace Best and Ibe. If we can keep one or both of them for next season, it would be amazing. Pretty sure that would only come with Premier League football though, unfortunately.

Them two and a new defence. Too much money involved for a team in this league.

We have been terrible defensively since Martin got injured, that's the bottom line.

Bent and Ince have been a revelation, whilst Bent hasn't filled Martin's void Ince has certainly bettered the performance level Russell was showing before he got injured. We're decent going forward, we just have serious problems at the back and I don't think it'll change now.

Despite the goals conceded, this team is showing some fight at least, 2 weeks running we've come from 3-1 down to get a point.

Whilst highly unlikely it'll be funny as fuck if we finish in the top 6 and win the play offs.

Why highly unlikely? All you need is a point (and draws seem to be something you're good at recently...) to finish in the top 6 and you're at home to a Reading side that has lost 5 and won none of their last 8.

edit - ignore me, re-reading that you probably meant winning the play-offs was unlikely rather than finishing top 6.
