That’s completely understandable - I only started posting after you made out inside the stadium was just the stags fans being idiots. Why some of the MK fans came over and started throwing punches baffled me, I would have been just enjoying my promotion.

What happened outside of the stadium hopefully has been caught on camera for the police to deal with.

Away from all that rubbish - MK deserved to win, we were terrible and played long ball for some bizarre reason.

Now I've calmed down a bit I've taken the franchise-tinted glasses off and accept our own fans are idiots too. Certainly not the first time either.

Didn't think either team were great, two very nervous sides - think the early goal wasn't planned for by either side. Our players were absolutely shattered at the end, Agard had pretty much given up chasing all of those aimless clearances. Almost the polar opposite game to the one at the One Call.

I thought we managed the game excellently to be honest. First half I thought we played extremely well, second half was nervy and I felt sick to my stomach but we defended superbly through all the pressure.

Atleast MK tried to play some football. The first half you dominated throughout and we were very lucky to go inside only 1 down.

Me too mate, I've never felt so nervous during a game in my life. 88+ minutes defending a lead against a decent side like Mansfield. That being said, as you say we did defend superbly and Nicholls was never really troubled. Martin inparticular was flawless.

We were also wank.

We were predictable and our creative players poor, you could still be playing now and we wouldn’t have scored.

Tomlinson and bishop were supposedly our strength in midfield and were both poor though the former was subbed tactically for rose on the half hour.

That clearance off the line by the Mansfield defender was heart in mouth stuff in the first half. Thought we'd finally concede when Mansfield brought on Jorge Grant, what a player to bring on when you're a goal down and chasing the game.

Fine margins anyway. We might have been the better team today, but Mansfield have been more consistent over the season than us and might consider themselves unlucky that things came down to today. Just like us, Mansfield had one of the best defences in the country in the first half of the season and then things just seems to collapse.

Think the final top 4 of Lincoln, Bury, MK and Mansfield is a fair relflection of the four best teams this season.

Understand we will get a bit of stick from opposition fans after a classic Mansfield choke...But from County fans? Really?

Why? A choke job is still a choke job regardless. But that being said , huge silver lining that you have the play offs to fall back on

Wake up? We have lost our last 3 and bottled the top 3 you idiot. You might be happy with mediocrity but Radford has invested a lot of money into the club.
Teams lose for gods sake ,we were playing the team just below us ,im not happy with mediocrity ,but a bit of money does not make promotion a certainty ,and if you think im an idiot thats your perogative but do i give a monkeys about your opinion ,no i bloody dont

Ultimately it was a big game and flitcroft failed when it mattered, again.

After sleeping on it, the plus side performance wise yesterday was our (best in the league) defence which was still pretty good yesterday other than the free header for the goal obviously but that was a collected team effort to defend the corner.

I cannot see us beating Newport on Thursday but I doubt we will concede many because we haven’t really for the entire season.

I’m still completely perplexed at Flitcroft starting central midfielder Alex MacDonald at RWB for the first time ever! In a promotion decider match? Has he gone mental? I’d love for him to try and explain that ridiculous decision, it’s hard to even comprehend it’s that fucking stupid. Wish he would own up.

Think we have to agree to disagree adam

I wish you were right mate - which unfortunately you aren’t.

It’s obviously not just the manager it’s the players, but when push comes to shove on the big stage flitcroft bottles it

Now I have calmed down, I still feel pretty much the same about DF, the players and the performance.

It all falls onto DF’s shoulders though, he is the one who played macca at RWB, CJ up front and must have told the defence to hoof it to walker for 45 mins.

You also thought we would get top 3...

Newport are unbeaten in 10 and have a fantastic home record. We will be lucky to go into the second leg with any chance.

Just got back.

Delighted we're up, didn't have much hope considering Mansfield just needed the draw so that early goal was a big boost.

Thought we weren't particularly decent apart from a few spells, but we didn't need to be as Mansfield were poor and weren't playing like a side desperate to win. Two nervy sides, but the deserved result in the end.

Anyway..

Disappointed that the day ended on a bit of a downer due to the disgraceful behaviour by pockets of Mansfield fans....

1. A group of five Mansfield fans throw two traffic cones at an MK supporter's car. Completely unprovoked, they just saw he had an MK scarf hanging up in the rear window. Another 4-5 Mansfield supporters come off one of the supporter coaches and start surrounding the guy's car, standing in front of it intimidating the driver.

2. I was driving out, some idiots in Mansfield shirts standing in the middle of a zebra crossing singing and not moving out the way. I wound my window down and shouted at them to move, both come over to my window ask "are you a plastic?!" before one leaned in and tried to pull my car keys out.

I know it doesn't reflect on all Mansfield fans, but that was three separate groups all acting like pricks, completely unprovoked behaviour. Worst fans I've ever encountered.

Oh well, League One football next season for us. Hope Mansfield get battered in the playoffs.
Now I have calmed down and reading this back it must have been really scary coming out of the ground yesterday, especially for children who may have not come to football before.

These ‘stags fans’ only appear at the bigger games and deserve one thing. Banning orders.

I reckon whatever nerves, bottle, call it what you want, Flitcroft exudes passes on to the players. He’s notorious for playing players in weird positions and changing tactics for no apparent reason. Concensus of opinion is he is trying to appear as some tactical genius where all that’s needed is a ‘steady Eddie’ approach.

He’s a buffoon.

At 2pm when I saw the line up I sent the below message to one of my friends:

What the **** is he doing

By 3:05pm my view was justified. We have missed out on the top 3 because of DF. He even admitted he got it wrong at home to Stevenage - yet fans defend him. A manager with a single tactical cell in their brain would have got this team promoted.

And at least POs last season, too.

Is his time up?

MacDonald has all the other attributes to play RWB but you don't try him there in the 46th game of the season. He would need time to work on his positioning and adjust.

I don't think Flitcroft's tactics have been all that bizarre for most of the season. We've had reasonable consistency in formation and team selections. However, I don't think we've been as brave on the ball for the second half of the season. I don't know if choking is a player mentality thing or if the manager isn't sufficiently motivating and instilling confidence in them when it matters.

What I do know is that we have choked this season, last season and perhaps, arguably, the season before (I accept the quality of that team was questionable).

If we don’t go up fans in the majority will no longer want him in my opinion but Radford will give him another shot I reckon.

The other question lies to the handling of CJ.

IMO since the turn of the year he’s been largely poor - Colchester and Exeter excluded. I think his heads been turned by the January transfer window rumours and would expect him to probably go in the summer.

However, flitcroft plays the lad in about 3 different positions during a game, no wonder the lads confused - he doesn’t know if he’s coming or going!

CJ doesn't have the brain for a striker. He was at his best at RWB and LWB in my opinion when the formation created a 1 v 1 for him on the flank and he could just sprint past the defender.

A quality post by ASF , hits nail on head.

Wake up Bargain Booze! If that isn’t s bottle job / choke with half a dozen or so games to go then I don’t know what is.

Dance on Notts grave until you can’t stand up , it’s been 40+ years in the waiting for you after all so can’t blame you but when it comes to your own club this season.

Put down the cheep booze and wake up!

Saying all that Stags to go up via Wembley would make this season even better for MTFC
