Saint Louis FC begins plying their trade in the "lower division" USL, so for the first time since moving here, I have a footy team to follow.

Colorado Rapids has links with Arsenal, but I disdain Kroenke - so that's out. Chicago Fire have links with Saint Louis FC, but Chicago sports teams are generally despised here. Ditto for Sporting KC. I followed NYRB for Henry, but now that's he gone, I think I'm going follow Columbus. Will Trapp is a huge prospect for the USMNT and Federico Higuain is enjoyable to watch. Ace kits featuring BVB colours, too.

Must be said, MLS has had a brilliant start to the season - wild matches, excellent atmospheres, and decent television ratings which will be a huge factor in expanding the league.

Just watching Orlando v NYRB and seen one of the most ridiculous red cards ever. Refs are shocking.

Booked tickets to go see the Red Bulls v Chicago in September, quite looking forward too it. Some of the stuff on TV i've seen has been dire but some decent and always seems to be a decent crowd everywhere!

Ever been to an MLS game, G?

Enjoyed the Montreal ground when I was on vacation in Canada. Was cool.

Big final today then. Hope Portland Timbers win, seen them numerous times on a Sunday night this season on Sky Sports and they have been good entertainment value.

It's good that none of the marquee signings have actually made it to the final.

I'll catch some of the second half. Should be goals even though it's a big occasion. Hopefully Timbers win.

Always goals when Timbers are involved, so it doesn't surprise me. The keeping standards around the world in the non major leagues is terrible, I've noticed.

Keeping is definitely sub-standard. Overall I thought this was a good season/final for the MLS, though I'm sure they'd have preferred two larger markets than Portland and Columbus playing in the final. These are two sides without the marquee designated players, they both played decent stuff, and the atmosphere seemed decent (though a final in Portland would have been ace; I saw a match there last season and it was the best sporting atmosphere I've witnessed in person).
