Sounds like your WiFi antenna might have picked up a fault. Or it could be the WiFi chip itself.

Have you tried updating the OS via Kies? Or, even better, installing a custom recovery and installing CM12? Just to point out the latter will trip your Knox but, with an S4, your warranty is likely about to end anyway.

Thanks Pagnell. I have insurance so I think I can just get a new one. I might do that if its not something I can easily fix.

Right, I was with Vodafone but switched to EE.

I contacted Vodafone to cancel my contract and unlock my iPhone, which is now done. I received an email from Vodafone to say it's now unlocked and part of it states, "Please replace the SIM (use a SIM which has never been used with this iPhone) and connect to iTunes or perform a software restore via iTunes".

Doing this isn't going to get rid of contacts/apps/photo's/texts etc is it? I'm not going to swap sims or software restore and come back to settings from when I first got it?!

Basically, I don't want to just put a new sim in, it doesn't work and I end up losing everything.

To me, reading that, all I need to do is take my Vodafone sim out, put my new EE one in, connect to iTunes and it'll sync and all be sorted?

My 02 Refresh contract will have ended once I pay £40. Thinking about paying it this weekend to get rid of my Xperia Z2 as it's a bit shit. Carphone Warehouse currently doing a deal. Offering a Samsung Galaxy S6 with 5GB of monthly data, unlimited calls and texts. All of that for £39 a month after a one off payment of £30. Also get a free Samsung wireless charger, which is handy. Unbelievable deal compared to what the O2 shop were offering.

Has anyone got a BlackBerry Z10? I have one through work and it has the shittiest battery ever for a phone. Bearing in mind I have no friends, ignore every work email I'm sent and have a team who won't talk to me, I don't use it much but the battery lasts barely a day. Even with the saver mode on and everything shut down.

I thought iPhone's were bad!

Got hold of an LG G4 a month before release, seems pretty tasty but won't be replacing my Note 4.

I'm in the market for a new phone and I'm open to recommendations. I can't afford something top of the range, I'm looking to pay in the region of £20 a month. Not too bothered about manufacturer; 3/4 of the phones I've owned have been Sony and I like them but I'm not averse to change.

Buy a phone and go sim-only to save money. Unless you don't want to splash £100-200 for a phone.

That sounds fine, are there any phones that you'd recommend in that price bracket?

So its upgrade time for me, currently have the S4, which has been great. I mainly use my phone for internet and streaming video.

Could get the S6 but that will be £8 a month extra on what I'm currently paying, so not sure I want to spend that much. Other options include the Galaxy Alpha, Xperia Z3, HTC One M8, LG G3 or I can go much cheaper and get the Galaxy A3.

Not really kept up with the mobile phone news last year or so, seems there is an M9 and a G4 out now but would be happy with the M8 or G3 if they are a decent upgrade on the S4 and will last a couple of years. Would really like the S6 but not sure I can justify the extra monthly cost. Don't really know much about the alpha or the A3, but if the A3 is decent for internet and video would be very happy with the price!

Not really a phone techie by any stretch, but I've had a good phone for several years now but feel the need for an upgrade. Not even on a contract at the moment, just a simple pay-as-you-go tariff.

Looking at an iPhone 6; anyone have one at the moment?

I'm anti-apple in general (apart from the iPods, those things are cool) and will very soon upgrade my HTC to some Samsung thing. Can get one for 1€ with my contract. I'll keep you posted as I'm sure you're all really looking forward to it.

I got a Samsung Galaxy S6 last month from Carphone Warehouse. £39 a month for unlimited texts, unlimited calls and 5GB of data. I was paying £33 a month for a Xperia Z2 with 1GB of data. No brainer. The S6 is a wondeful piece of equipment.

Went for the Xperia Z3 in the end, £38 a month for unlimited data.

Really wanted to stick with Samsung and get the S6 but it was too much for unlimited data

Have to say though so far I'm liking the Sony phone.

Just got an email saying that everyone who took part in the trial are allowed to keep their test phones. Just as well as I sold it for about £450 a few weeks back.

The Samsung has arrived but the HTC sim card is too big. My network provider is sending me a new on within 5 days.

More to follow!

This thread needs a bump.

I got myself my first new mobile in nearly 3 years this month, a Galaxy S7 Edge in black. Already rooted with Echoe installed. The camera is tremendous, and it focuses faster than my Nikon DLSR. Also, because Vodafone completely fucked up my upgrade, I got upgraded to a £55 a month 15gb tariff with free Spotify premium for two years and 30% off and the upfront cost for the phone wiped out. So around £38 a month.

I wanted an S7, I wanted one a lot. But I've told myself that I will never pay for a phone upfront on a contract. And I won't pay more than £40pm. In my opinion you're being shafted, BUT that all depends on how much you wanted/needed the phone.

I just got rid of my Note 4 which was started to get a bit ropey. Now using an LG G4, which was free and only paying £32 per month with 20gb data.

I do miss Samsung though. :(

I agree £40 a month is a limit I myself won't go beyond either. The original S7 Edge deal I got was an upgrade for me and I also got a gold Edge for my wife, both on £50 a month 10gb Vodafone contracts with 20% discount applied because I work for a partner company. So both tariffs down to £40 a month with a £30 upfront cost for each phone plus two free vr headsets. A decent deal, and I got the phones on the 8th, three days before release. However, Vodafone being as shit as they are, they completely fucked up the bill and I ended up bitching to management and getting both tariffs upped to the £55 a month one, which includes Spotify, and then getting 30% off each line whilst wiping out the £60 upfront cost. Which means two S7 Edge phones with free vr headsets, each with 15gb data a month, unlimited minutes and texts and Spotify premium, for £77 a month. All things considered, a fantastic deal.

I also sold my Note 3 for £140. Not bad at all given that it was over two years old.

So Samsung have just announced that they're permanently canning the Note 7. Huge damage for them, but more importantly what phone am I gonna get now? Really don't wanna have to slip to the dark side and get the iSheep 7 Plus. What other phones that are too big for pockets and have an S-Pen equivalent are there at the moment that are any good?
