Sometimes these newbie managers need to understand pretty passing football with nice flicks and tricks doesn't always work.

So many seem to try and copy Pep without the players required for it obviously.

Not a week goes by without some goal been conceded after a right old cock up at the back.

Swindon didn't really do much passing football at all, it was just like us under Aspin, huge gaps between the midfield and the striker, on another day we hit 5 or 6 which was the only real blot on the performance.

They will need to get rid of Kennedy to get out the mess I would think looking at how they performed, it was a huge decline from the side which visited us in the Play Off season when they had some decent footballers and played some good stuff, obviously we've been out of this division in the time since so haven't really kept up with it but can see why their fans are furious at the moment.

Ah ok.

Do seem like a team who ought go do better than they are as you say .

Would be a bit foolish not to against a youth team keeper though surely?

Hopefully we'll get an emergency keeper in. Harvey Cartwright not even getting on the Hull is the obvious choice. Knows some of the defenders, Artell, the club and staff, etc.
Perhaps, we don't really have a big physical squad to challenge for all the aerial stuff this season - Dieng, Andrews and Hawkins probably our biggest aerial threats but the first two are injured and Hawkins will almost certainly be on the bench as he isnt mobile enough for Bonners system. We've scored a couple from set plays but they've been training ground moves more than anything. I imagine we'll have a couple more of those up our sleeves for Tuesday.

Quite a few saying we are bringing in a lad from Barnsley on an emergency loan - was at Walsall last season dunno what he's like though

Is Masterson still injured?
Always rated him .
Struggle to see how we get anything here tbh , playing against a good team with a stronger squad with us having 9 first team players out - surely you will be able to rotate more and ours will be knackered .

I suppose there is always illogical results at this level though , that's what we have to hope for i guess .

We WILL have an emergency loan keeper in, but it definitely won’t be Cartwright who is injured

Masterson is almost definitely out, but apparently is back in training. I’d be surprised to see him tomorrow though

Still out, although despite probably being our best individual defender I think Ehmer and Ogie is our best partnership there.

Bonner did say last week that it was the first time the entire first team squad had been training on grass since he was here, but some will still be a few weeks away - one of which I'd imagine would be Masterson, alongside Dieng, Rowe and probably Jake Turner.

We do have a strong squad this season and a pretty balanced one at that. Our benches have generally looked really strong all year and seemingly whoever we bring in tends to maintain a similar quality level to those they replace which is nice.

Only just caught up on highlights show from the weekend. Vales second goal against Swindon is exactly what I warned Swindon fans about Freckleton. He lacks concentration and at times genuinely never looks like he’s played football before and appears he had one of those moments again.. horrendous goal to give away

Few of our fans wanted him back in the summer (for some unknown reason) but I’m glad we steered clear. Has some top physical attributes in terms of his pace but for me it’s pointless when you’re so prone to errors

Not sure how he’s got on for them in general though and that may have been just a one off. How’s King getting on Swindon fans?

Eastwood has severed patella tendon and is out for 6 months. Apparently, his knee hit the rear frame of the goal which is angled metal instead of being tubular. Freak occurrence or not seems like something the EFL should get changed immediately.

Freckleton is like the perfect litmus test for whether or not you know ball.

Because as I pointed out, the Lino put his flag up for offside direct from a goal kick!!! That’s why he put it down straight away cos he realised he’d fucked up lifting it

I hadn’t seen your post but given it affected how our players reacted thinking it was offside it should have been a drop ball and I’d have thought the same if it was the other way round, it’s shameful that he is allowed to officiate when he doesn’t know the rules

I think on that second goal I’d question whether it was wise for the keeper to roll it to him in the first place as there were Vale players in the vicinity and our press had been successful for a lot of the game prior. Was asking for trouble. Freckleton obviously culpable for poor control but for me you’re looking at the manager as it’s clearly a team instruction with little upside to me.

Watch it back… It doesn’t affect any of your players. Your left back sprints full pelt to keep it in from going out, even whilst the flag has been lifted for the split second, and then follows it up with a horrendous pass out of play under 0 pressure. But even if it had affected your players anyway, oldest rule in football applies… play to the whistle!!
I agree it’s stinking from the Lino even making that error in the first place, as I said it’s one of the most basic parts of the offside rule that.

On another note for anyone interested in enjoying a Billy Sharp headloss at 3,000 away fans here it is (turn volume up to see how much we enjoyed it):

Not the best angle as it zooms out just as he bursts into tears, but still enjoyable watching it back none the less.
