Really expected them to push on given how they ended the first half. It was too much of a deficit to overcome in the end, have to credit Monaco for holding on too as well as the first leg performance ofcourse. That free kick that conceded the offside in the last minute of the game was bizzarre decision making though, imagine if it had led to a goal?

I get Özil is an easy target because he appears lackadaisical but that's just piss poor punditry. I can see why Scholes chose to keep his mouth shut when he played. The main bloke is miles better than Adrian Chiles though.

Scholes isn't much of a pundit, he made some decent points about Wilshere but most of the stuff he comes out with is lazy tabloid style fodder.

For just twatting shots at goal, yes they would be better. Giroud is a big part of the reason why we have 21 goals scorers this season. As a team player who connects play so well he's better to have in a team than Costa, Kane and Sturridge who is always injured.

Solid performance from Arsenal but too little too late as usual. Must be really frustrating for the fans as they obviously mean well by their good team work and positive play. Monaco actually played better than I expected with a good spell in the early stages of the second half. Tbh they pretty much gifted Arsenal the second (still well taken by Ramsey) but held firm.

After that time 3-4 months, still only 6 goals behind Costa, with more assists. Oh and a goal in Europe. I can honestly say I would rather have Giroud in my team than Costa.

No way would I have Giroud he could probably be top scorer but he misses so many chances. Right now he is probably playing better than Costa but if Costa starts to hit a bit of form again I'd much rather have him.
If assists were taken from only actual passes for team mates it would be a worthy stat but it's not so its very much flawed.

Yeah Giroud is brilliant. Such a beautiful player to watch (in more ways than one). Still think he lacks a killer instinct but he's outplaying Costa at the moment (tbf are Chelsea creating chances at the mo? Is it more about a Cescy dip than Costa?)

Giroud has scored against Liverpool, City and United this season, so he doesn't seem to have an inferiority complex anymore. His touch and the variety to his game makes him perfect for us. Costa seems more of a 'pure' striker to me (ie he doesn't contribute much outside the penalty area and so wouldn't suit us). CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG tho.

ASM don't have any stand out players but are well organised and know what to do.
Arsenal need 2 center backs and left back for me. Will never get past quarter finals with a defence like that.

You'd have a worse team. Giroud's proven it over three seasons and is scoring at a better goal/minute clip than Kane. Creates more chances for others. Kane is still young, and could become the better player, but right now it's Giroud. I do think Costa is marginally the better player, though.

Koscielny is immense. With the form Kompany is in, he's the second best center back in the league. Apart from Bayern, I can't think of a team in Europe that he wouldn't improve. We could definitely do with a top-class partner for him, though. I'd like us to try for Umitti, but Lyon will likely demand far more than Wenger is willing to pay for a defender.

You think we should replace Koscielny? I've always found it strange how he's so underrated in France, he's been incredible for the past two years now and we fall apart when he doesn't play.
