Because crowds win games.
I was complimentary to Cambridge before the game, and that won't change now after a positive result.
I won't gloat, but can we play you every week?
I don't mind a big club with a big following talking our club down, but I won't accept the likes of Cambridge doing so.
We are similar sized clubs with a similar size following are we not.
Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season, I still think you will be up there at the end.

How many will you bring next week Cambridge fans?

We took 640 to Wimbledon last Tuesday, but some will have been put off by our experience at Barnet last time, plus we were top then and flying and not coming in off the back of a 3-0 home defeat. 800-900 probably.

I reckon we'll have roughly a thousand at Barnet. And we'd have more than 193 at Crawley on a Saturday. ;-)

But whatever, Crawley came with a game plan, got a bit of luck and made it work, took their chances well.

It's hard to be gracious in defeat when losing to Crawley due to numerous reasons:
- the manager that got them into the league.
- the fact they bought their way into the league.
- the lack of clarity from the off on where the money came from to get them into the league and stay there.
- the fact they've never played decent football against us.
- the size of their away (and home) followings just gives it a tinpot feel.

Sorry but I can't congratulate Crawley on that win as they're one step short of Satan in my mind. :-)

Excuse me but nearly every club buys their way to the title. Did Barnet have the same budget as, say, Telford last season? I only use that as an example but did Shrewsbury have the same budget as Dagenham? The same across every league and I never here calls for all clubs to only be allowed to spend an actual amount on wages and transfer fees. Would Chelsea be Premier champs if they only had the same budget as Accrington Stanley?

It's not that you had a bigger budget. It's that you had an unnaturally bigger budget due to being bankrolled.

Shrewsbury had s bigger budget than Dagenham because they're a bigger club with more fans. Barnet had a (slightly) bigger budget than Telford because they're a (slightly) bigger club with (slightly) more fans.

You, on the other hand, had a dubious, unrevealed and over-inflated money source and convicted football fraudster Steve Evans as manager. It's the truth, so there's no point getting precious about it.

Plus making comparisons with old, established league clubs doesn't do you any favours. Being a jumped up little non league club is all well and good, but you are the same size, with the same history as Morecambe and Burton. Don't kid yourself otherwise.

Apologise to all if my comparison offended.
I actually think of Cambridge as a non league club, as I clearly remember them first entering the football league as late 1969(I think).
A good few seasons back out the league did little to expand the size of the club too.
I think our average crowds were very similar for a while in the conference, and I only compare our away following to cambridge to cambridge following at Crawley.....almost identical.
Edit 1970 Cambridge entered the league, I just Google searched.

What the.... I don't know where to start....

We were a non league club up to 1970, then spent 35 years in the football league (some 30 years more than Crawley have achieved to date).

Seasons out of the football league tend to harm rather than encourage attendances, that comment makes no sense at all.

The only season our crowds were similar in the Conference was when Crawley won promotion and they averaged 2,500. I can't find our figures to prove it but I imagine we were just under this. However we did finish 17th so it was hardly surprising. Aside from this if wager our attendances were higher every season in non league.

You are comparing a Saturday league match away following to a Tuesday JPT game away following, a game which holds limited appeal. The fact the followings were practically the same merely proves the point. The return fixture is in early January and I guarantee we bring at least double (400) to Crawley.

We're a small football league club, there's no getting away from that however we can in no way be classed in the same breath as Crawley. Sorry but that's nuts.

As explained at the time that was a tongue in cheek comment after one clown predicted we wouldn't concede more than 2 prior to Carlisle.

Fuck me it's hard work on here at the moment.

We didn't concede more than 2 against you though did we? And we gave you a 45 minute head start :)
