Wasn’t he the one moaning the grass wasn’t cut short enough? Like we should suit his team?
No that was the Luton manager when they played us at Crawley - Harry the Aussie got a lot of stick when he left us for Notts County and taking Enzio Boldewijn - we had the last laugh he was sacked after about 10 weeks - we made a tidy amount of money for them

Opposition manager most hated here would deffo be wellens, that bloke is a complete tit wank, most hated who has managed us would be a toss up between westley and terry butcher.

Do they still tell their keeper to take a lie-down at around the 70 minute mark so they can have a chat with the rest of the team about tactics?

Huddersfield did the same sort of tricks under them. No wonder they didn't last long.

Talking of unpopular managers, just seen Joey Barton has got the boot from Fleetwood. Doubt he'll get much sympathy.

Gobsmacked when he got the job but he has not done too bad.
Fleetwood 10th in table and only 3 pts away from a play off place and 10 points above being relegated.
Perhaps kneejerk by their directors - Fleetwood have only one win since end of November !!

His sides play some very good football, he's done a good job there.

I wonder whether their Chairman might not trust him to build a new squad because Barton liked more senior players and have an average age of about 105 with the likes of Madden, Evans, Whelan, Mulgrew, Coutts, Duffy etc in it.

Knew Nathan Jones would get a couple of mentions on this thread! His first go around he was a bit mental to be honest, I remember him moaning about grass at Crawley, at Cheltenham because they had a long throw in taker and we’re direct and a few more. After games there was no point listening to him as he was too hyped up and just said stupid things especially if we lost or played badly.

The Stoke experience has humbled him a bit and he has noticeably mellowed but still got it in him.

Westley if he was around would be the one. Richard Money was another head case but the one in this league who, perhaps because he’s at Morecambe now, im surprised no one has mentioned is Derek Adams. Always came across as a prickly git at Plymouth and eventually seemed to over stay his welcome there.

Spot on with Wellens and Westley. Don't think Butcher is hated - was just clueless and out of his depth.

I don’t hate any of them, but Ian Evatt is irritating because he tries to kid himself that his team are this total footballing machine and anyone who gets a result against them have done so by pure fluke or anti football. It rubs off on some of the less intelligent Bolton fans as well. Richie Wellens comes across as a bit of a prick, but wouldn’t say I hate him, same goes for Yems.

Yems is a decent bloke.

I know, the car crash interviews but in fact he is an engaging, cheerful guy who will normally stop for a chat and a laugh and joke. I suppose the trick is not to ask him silly questions.

Jones' interview after our 2-2 draw a couple of years back is gold. Slating the players for celebrating an injury time equaliser wildly, when his players had done exactly that 5 mins from time. There were other things as well that he said, but that point really made me giggle.

I like Yems, he did really well for us. Clearly a good tactical manager who just despises the media. Entertaining!

Joey Barton was far from being a shit manager although I'll concede thus far he has not set the football management world alight.

But Denzel you being an Exeter supporter indicates that you live outside the north west area where local clubs have greater knowledge concerning local managers.
Directors and fans watch local tv and radio and are therefore in a better position to make judgement calls than the rest of us outside that niche area.

It is the same down in the West Country where the same faces appear on the management roundabout - Gary Johnson being one example where he has managed Yeovil, Bristol City, Cheltenham & Torquay.

Yeah that’s the one. He also had a huge rant about Harry Cornick not being clinical and “hitting every seat in the stand”...which he still does to this day! I think that’s probably his peak interview, looking back on it it’s very funny.

Which manager in the Conference was it that lost to us and then declared that our squad was "the worst Grimsby team ever"? Was it John Still?

Haha I used to like watching Jones' interviews. Can't imagine many players gave him shit.

Hurst came up with a belter regarding the squad he's just inherited in his first post-match:
"You can put a dog on the pitch and it will run around, but you won't do very well with 11 dogs."

I love a manager meltdown. Like we all should have sat down and politely applauded equalising in the 97th minute, thanks to our goalkeeper's header assisting a goal against a promotion contender when we were fighting against relegation ourselves.

That being said, he shouldn't have been shocked, our record against Luton is nearly as good as ours against Swindon. We don't win as many, but we rarely lose. Even Paul Buckle managed a draw against Luton.

I rewatched it again and it’s definitely his funniest one I can remember. He is literally distraught and describes himself as such. Yep the reverse fixture that season was also a 2-2. Morrell scored a worldy for you and now “plays” for us.

Had expunged all memory of Buckle, we both got stung with that one.

Garry Hill.
Never met him but used to be subjected to his radio interviews constantly.

I formed an opinion of him but the rules of slander and libel means I will keep them to myself.

Morrell was quality for us and seemed to do well for Lincoln last season as well.

Maybe the step up to the Championship is just a bridge too far - then again he is an international regular these days isn't he?

As for Buckle - I honestly didn't think anyone would be more hated than Martin Allen at Cheltenham after his 12 month spell. Buckle overtook him and then some in 10 matches.

I rememeber after our draw in the bar after the game a Luton fan was telling me how awful he was, etc... I put it down to sour grapes at the draw. Oh how I wish I listened to him.

Played more for Wales than us this season! Just doesn’t seem up to the physicality and pace of the championship so far but think that’s more him not fitting us than him being a bad player. Would have looked great in the side that got promoted from this league and the o e above but we don’t/can’t really play like that at this level. Still time for him.

Yep you should have, and we should have listened to the Bristol rovers fans who hated him too.

I thought Morrell would kick on in the Championship this season. He was brilliant for us last season and stood out, even against the better sides.

You lot ought to be glad you don't have to listen to Lee Bowyer, Paul Lambert or Karl Robinson. Deary me.
