Russell King was the best thing to happen to Notts took a club that was dying being killed by clueless fans with egos clinging to power and petty point scoring and won us the league and made national news. Regardless if it was a con or not I had one of my best years following Notts and I'll always be greatful for that.

Ray Trew was dire for Notts County. I'm sure that Chesterfield fans will agree Guy Branston can do untold damage.

But that led to millions of debt, when Jonnie Jackson left I knew the bubble or in this instance great big zeppelin was going to burst. The millions of debt led to Ray Trew.

What because he put Dario in his place... you all cream over Artell who has a similar manner of speak to Micky (all be it usually more derogatory about opponents than Micheal was).

I don't remember him putting Dario in his place. I remember him being an unpleasant angry little man. I also don't remember Artell being particularly derogatory about opponents.

Reading through the responses, in terms of footballing reasons it would seem Mickey Adams is universally despised. And rightly so.

Lee Clarke and David Flitcroft.

I am a vocal critic of our incompetent chairman and his constant web of spin and lies along with the farcical way that he runs Bury Football Club. However, I can't quite bring myself to hate him.

Mickey Adams is a prick.
Why? because he smashed panting Dario up in a few post match interviews?

When will Dario qualify to be number 2 on your list Crewe fans? suspended for 18 months and counting now.

I guess if he was ever found guilty of anything, which as it stands he is not. Adams is still a fucking prick.

Miles Newell, alcoholic chancer who put together a team of wasters.
Russell Slade, gambling addict who put together a team of hardworking but shit footballers, almost relegating us.
In the past (before my time) there’s also been Brian Laws and Mike Lyons.

Who's Miles Newell? :bg:

Hate is a very strong word for someone that you don't know so I don't think I've ever really hated anyone associated with my club, but the 2 most disliked players in my time are Terry Curran and Peter Beagrie, and manager wise it has to be Mike Lyons who almost destroyed our club back in the 80's.

Worst part of the Munto era wasn’t the crippling debt left behind , nor the following Trew ownership it was the Kop’s embarrassing fawning over Peter Trembling. Acting like he was the messiah when he clearly did nothing but spoke a good game, gave good sound bites to keep the Kop onside. There was/is only one Peter Trembling as far as NCFC are concerned . The Kop certainly got that right

He smashed Dario up? What the shit are you talking about? I'm no fan of Mickey Adams because he's an arsehole.

I don't think Dario's done anything wrong, so I suspect I'll never turn against him.

Not sure exactly what Micky did to upset Crewe other than be a success with us if the Dario clash fell from memory.

Adams rightly told Dario to get a life after his frame by frame study on his VHS to try and justify a decision that even the referee apologised for!

Then of course when we got a penalty the following season that was debatable he basically said if Dario can say the Donaldson one was then that one was.

Adams doesn’t do bullshit and is straight to the point, wouldn’t say he’s an arsehole. Was always good fun to listen too... especially when he transfer listed the whole squad on the radio after a loss at Notts County!

The Artell bit of his autobiography was all stuff that was common knowledge anyway if that’s got Crewe fans upset!

I dunno what he said about Artell. I'm just amazed that Micky Adams has an autobiography. Surely self-published? Imagine choosing to read that.

He does do bullshit because 90% of his words are bullshit.

But haven't backed anything up to base that on...

I have it ready to read in Kefalonia this summer! More because of the juicy bits of the Vale administration, Keith Ryder and the Artell incident.

He had only just come in and wasn't happy, although I don't believe he actually did put them on the list but wanted the reaction and got it as we only lost twice in the next 17 games.

And I’m guessing he then, some time later, lost a handful and departed suddenly.

Micky was again not happy

Mickey is an absurd little helmet, a man who really does suffer from small man syndrome. I would take what valefan16 say's with a pinch of salt, I read somewhere that he claimed that Aspin out performed Artell last season, I'm not sure what at but it certainly wasn't football management :woot:

Only after leading us through administration to a glorious promotion campaign and top 10 league one finish, even when he left for six months between spells there was talk that with us 1-0 down to a Lincoln side heading for non league Horsfield and Grew invited him into the dressing room to do the talk at half time and we went on to win 2-1.

Again with no back up.

Up until the dead rubber games (i.e. the last two) Aspin picked up more points than Artell during the time Aspin was Vale boss so at the time it was a fact until we chucked the reserves and kids out for the last two.

Not that its relevant as we don't compare success to our finish in relation to Crewe (noted some of your fans were excited to finish a few places above the worst Vale side in our history) but the true comparison can be judged in 2018/19 when Aspin has his own squad and a full season I guess although Aspin has a 47% win record during more than a decade in management which is pretty good i'd say and one of his discoveries will be in England's front line this summer ;)

Adams left twice!!! I forgot he had two spells at the Vale, probably Cos he’s managed a fair few clubs at this point in time.

Sounds like he’s viewed as a modern day demi god in certain sections of the potteries

Pretty obvious it's Pete Winkelman for engineering the whole move..

Player wise, probably Antony Kay. He nearly ended Michal Zyro's career (Wolves) when we played them a few seasons ago. Wolves fans still bitter about it to this day, rightly so, it was a terrible challenge.

Micky Adams was great for Vale . Exactly what we needed at that point in our history. The fact that he wound up Crewe fans just sweetens the deal.
