Their right-on lefty ultras are not quite as insufferable as Clapton, or as nice as Dulwich. And their ground is a disgrace, even in that division. I have political views that are left at home on match day, because match day is about the football, not preaching or being leftier than thou.

Their "fans" are not football fans. They seem to chant about anything but. Don't get me wrong, I am against racism, homophobia, etc, but I wouldn't go to a football game and bleat about it rather than sing about (or in support of) my own team. They report any club who's fans happen to say something they don't like. Their chairman is an absolute knob. Apparently (I'm just going by a tweet by one of their fans), you have to have a tattoo (of what, who knows?) To stand with their "ultras".

Their ground is absolutely woeful too.

Let's just say they won't be a loss if they ended up back in the county league's.

Getting away from the Whitehawk ultras, they were also one of those teams that averaged double figures attendance wise - but had a loaded chairman, so were a money club to. Obviously sod all money has gone into the ground / all got spaffed on players. Although it appears to have run out last season.

For the ground they nabbed all the temp stands from Brightons old Withdean ground & just dumped it at their place without doing anything with it to beat the ground grading regs, so you're left with a load of old scaffolding everywhere - though I think the National league has finally wised up about this.

The Ultras latched on to them 3/4 seasons ago. Before then Whitehawk were getting around 70 attendance tops.

The "ultras" there really are insufferable, I don't think Joe has emphasised that enough though!

People who tell you to keep politics out of football do so because their politics fit in well with those that the modern game currently encapsulates. When a female physio is told to get her tits out, when a player on the floor is told "Get up, you ****!", when the troublesome opposition striker is thrown racial slurs, when the chairman personally pockets most of that once-in-a-decade windfall, when someone can't afford the admission in anymore, or the fan in the wheelchair gets a view at the bottom of the hard standing with spectators in the way either side, none of that apparently affects them so they prefer to turn a blind eye.

I've been fairly complimentary towards them here compared to in the past!

If I had to choose between Billericay Town lasting in their current state for a full season, and football being abolished forever, I'd choose the latter.
