Got a lot of time for Gainsborough Trinity's Fergal the Shark mascot. A menacing shark with his fins open wide and a shadowy vision of a hairy bloke grinning from inside. Would be a fantastic one to add to the roster of mascots observing a minute's silence if he's still being wheeled out by early November.

(Any connection btw? Did the Undertones' lead singer drive through Gainsborough once?)

Must be some sort of record?! Best wishes to the lad - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37215358

Not really tinpot, though I'm sure you're right, earliest a game has and probably will ever be called off after kick-off.

Quite common in the lower levels, a couple of years ago when we were in the UCL a game (not involving us) got abandoned because one of the players broke his leg. The issue was less the initial injury but the inability to deal with it immediately, with the player in place on the pitch for approximately an hour waiting for an ambulance I believe. It was almost a bit of culture shock to remember that clubs don't have St Johns on site, they don't have a suitable team of stretcher bearers and physios/doctors to feel confident of moving the player safely. It's a resource issue which means that a leg break in one of those games is little better than someone breaking their leg playing at the local park.

Step 4 is certainly the highest I've ever heard of a game getting abandoned due to a serious injury.

Andy Legg turned up at Lincoln yesterday.
He should have been at North Ferriby to commentate for Radio Cumbria.

Fabrice Muamba? That game was abandoned dunno if you can call it an injury though.

Fair point, I guess I just mentally categorised that separately. It's kind of odd that the whole spate of players collapsing happened, and has now seemingly stopped (or at least stopped being reported).

There was one in Africa just before the end of the season.

Not sure what is more tinpot that or actually attending the Checkatrade trophy
To me it was just an under 23 away game, the size of the stadium only added to that feel [emoji38]

That tiny crowd really doesn't surprise me for the Wombles, they've been against the presence of academy sides from the off, they were never going to have big crowds against Swansea U23

Our fans were so fed up with the dross on the pitch they decided to set up a 5 a side match between themselves on the banks behind the pitch! Quality.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
What were the crowds like for 1st round JPT games last season?

crowds have been probs between 1,500-3,000 for first round matches for the last few years, so in terms of numbers it wasn't a massive decrease.

what did show when looking further though is in previous seasons clubs usually charge £10-15 for adults an £5+ for kids, this season they on the whole were almost letting fans in for free, Adults £5 and kids £1, from all accounts some free tickets also and other deals..........yet gates still dropped.

Think only club which charged usual price was Fleetwood and well..........
