Nathan Thomas joined the long list of players and coaches who have represented both Notts County and Carlisle a few weeks ago, and will no doubt feel he has a point to prove having been such a villain to County fans. Truth be told I don't think he'll start, and he hasn't been great for us overall, but in the second half yesterday he finally showed the pace and positivity we've been lacking, so if he does get on the pitch then he'll want to replicate that.

Notts are exactly the type of banana skin we fear, though they are on terrible form and show no signs of escaping the drop. You'd think we were heavy favourites for this, but we'll need to cut out the sloppy mistakes and find some consistency if we're to win. Kelvin Etuhu absolutely has to start, and we'll be missing Cullen and McCarron, so Thomas might get his chance but hopefully O'Hare can continue to improve.

Colchester are playing FGR, which is good news for us. I'd be more than happy to see those two draw if we win, though my head says a Colchester win is what we want, don't care what the teams above us do as long as those beneath us lose.

Literally no chance in this. Hope we play a couple of youth teamers. Can’t believe Carlisle are just under evens!

Because we're far too inconsistent to ever be a good bet. The only team we've really embarrased so far this season is the one who set the odds at Paddy Power.

All you need to do is pack the midfield which will keep Doyle quiet and Jim (if he even plays) and lob balls into the box.

Perhaps if we lose JimO - Rose might be pushed into midfield. Then CMS and Enzio up top.

Anyway 2-0 home win (if we're lucky)

You would have had little chance had you played us late December or January, but since then we’ve been poor so I’d say you have a decent chance. And I remember the away game, we totally bossed the game, had god knows how many shots yet we’re a few minutes away from losing the game.

Plus I feel our weak boy midfielders might be exactly what someone like Michael Doyle will thrive against. So I reckon it could be a struggle again for us.

That said I still expect us to win. If we can’t beat a team rock bottom at home then we don’t deserve to be top half let alone top 7.

It's the kind of game where we could get a meaningless point, useless to us but a bad one for you fellas.
That said if you just lump crosses in we'll buckle more than likely.
Hopefully if that effeminate wanker Thomas is playing one of our lot will have the decency to crop him hard for his disgraceful shows of cowardice while disgracing himself on a weekly basis for us.

Game isn't in doubt is it 50-65mph winds forcast with rain around KO?
Could be a safety issue?

It is fucking windy. It’s going to be a dire game of football. I don’t know who that’ll suit more, us or Notts.

I'd like to think that home to a team in Notts position, on Notts form, it shouldn't matter what the weather, pitch conditions or position of Jupiter is. We should be as able to beat them on a cold wet and wild Tuesday night as any other time. I hope.

I know the conditions are atrocious, but we are new levels of shit. It just highlights how shite Pressley has made us

0-1 at the break, so 2-1 final score then. Question is did we have the wind (pardon the pun)

EDIT: We had the wind behind us, so all Carlisle 2nd half

Typical Notts. Watched it on ifollow and thought we were well worth our win tbh, dealt with the conditions much better and weirdly just looked quite good. Hemmings was brilliant.

Their goal was hilarious by the way, kind of thing that may weirdly make us stronger having come through it unscathed.

Notts really are impossible to predict. One minute look nailed on to go down then they get a couple of cracking wins before drifting back to awfulness again. Bizarre.

With the games Carlisle and their play-off rivals Forest Green had and Carlisle's superior form, who would've thought that FGR would be leap-frogging them in the table? But that's the crazy nature of League 2 for you.

Our record against the top seven is really good. Beating Morecambe would make me believe much more than tonight did.

Off the bottom. "I can stand the despair, it's the hope that kills you" John Cleese, Clockwise.
If we win on Saturday and Yeovil lose....

You beat me to it, I hate Notts for doing this. A defeat or draw with in form Morecambe should put us back in our rightful place.

Tremendous result tonight after 3 shockers

Every bastard time I give up we pull a result out of the hat at the most unexpected times. 3-1 away win at Carlisle on a windy Tuesday night is as unexpected as it gets. And with 2 cracking comedy goals in the match to boot.

What a day on Saturday, Yeovil and Macc playing each other, and surely, surely we’ve got to beat a fellow crap side at some point? Might as well be Morecambe after their result tonight.

The weather can’t be blamed. It was a factor but it can’t be blamed, notts played the conditions better and fully deserved the win. Hope they stay up.

As for us, just disgusting. We are worse than shit. Steven Pressley is proving himself to be a tactically clueLess idiot. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as it’s a new side, but that tonight wasn’t acceptable. His players don’t seem to have any idea where they are meant to be playing, they must have all changed positions about 20 times tonight. He was backed in January and he’s got us playing like team that should be heading to the conference. I’d probably give him the boot now while the season can still be salvaged, but unfortunately we’re stuck with him till the summer.

What an absolute shit-show that was :(

The weather certainly played a part, howling in the first half when we were playing against it and seemed to calm down a lot second half, but we did choose to play against it first half and we were just diabolical throughout. I feel sorry for Pressley, because the manager will always cop the blame when you get thrashed by the league's bottom side, but when your players are making mistakes like that there's fuck all the manager can do. I don't think we lost because of any tactical decisions, we just weren't good enough.

Notts really weren't very good either, but had more spirit and guts to clear their lines, throw bodies in the way, and tackle, we were constantly trying to be the footballing side and occasionally it came off; mostly it didn't, it was just a catalogue of mis-kicks and terrible decisions from us, then in the second half when they should have been up against it they continued to throw themselves on the line and stand up to us.

None of the goals came from any moment of quality at all. We gifted them the first, then was the penalty, which we felt we should have had a free kick in the build up to, then Hope pulled one back in a moment of madness from their keeper and finally they got the third into an open goal when Collin had come up for a free-kick.

I'm not one to have a go at oppositions for time-wasting, because we lost that match all on our own, and you know we'd do the same in their position; but I do at least expect the referee to keep it in check, and he just didn't do that at all, and that pissed me right off. I expect him to remind them they're time-wasting, start booking players if they take the piss and time-waste blatantly, and then add the time on at the end and he did none of those things.

A couple of Notts players could have been booked there; kicking the ball away as we were about to take a free kick, and the keeper wasting a good thirty seconds over every goal kick should have seen him go in the book, but neither were even spoken to about it, and that seemed to give them the feeling they could waste all the time they wanted, and then to make things worse, he only added four minutes on at the end, and the penalty alone probably accounted for three of those. Maybe if he'd done his job things would have been different, they would have players on bookings, would have to start getting on with it, there would have been more time at the end, we could have pulled back the equaliser at 2-1, but that's all academic, and the way we were playing, to be honest, we probably wouldn't.

I was very surprised that he only added four minutes on at the end, to be honest. Needs must in our situation, but timewasting is always annoying as the home fan. I thought that Devitt (?) was extremely lucky not to be sent off for that tackle on O'Brien right at the end as well, albeit haven't seen a replay or anything.

They’re two very long paragraphs moaning about time wasting from someone who claims that they don’t moan about time wasting.

We’re so shit I’d hope we were time wasting before the game kicked off.

Not moaning about the timewasting; moaning about the referee not paying any notice of it. Fair play to Notts, if the referee isn't going to intervene then why would you stop doing it?

Pressley is fucking useless.

I agree. People will defend him, but he’s took over the in form team in the league, lost a few players granted but been backed to strengthen, and he’s turned us into one of the worst teams in the league. He’s ruining Devitt, he’s changing his position nearly every week, playing everywhere EXCEPT his best attacking midfield role.

Barring the odd 15/20 minutes here n there we haven’t produced one half decent performance since he arrived, we’ve gradually got worse and worse. Can it get any worse than being stuffed at home by the team rock bottom? I certainly fucking hope not.
