Thanks to good goalkeeping, an excellent finish by Pereira, some hardworking defending with players putting their bodies on the line, and a soft referee who failed to use his yellow card in the face of their incessant time wasting and feigning of injury and some wayward finishing by the home team, Dagenham got a point today. Can't fault their effort and commitment, and they have some decent players, but they are irritating as hell...

Yesterday afternoon (b4 half-time) had a look at football scores and saw "Woking v Gateshead" abandoned.
What was that all about?

What did you think of Barry-Murphy when he was your manager? Much potential there?

He's favourite to be our next manager, 25 years after we initially brought him over from Ireland as a young player.

Certainly extremely late. Not exactly much intent to play the ball there. Deserves a lengthy ban for that.

Looks like Oldham have got off to a good start for the season. Feels like the door is wide open for them to go up this season with the players they have.

Meh. Reasonably competent, but no world beater. Too much of a "coach", not really inspiring as a manager.

You can do better.

A very even game for the first 30 minutes with Alty maybe shading the chances. A mistake by Cooper let in Coley to score Sutton’s first. Another three goals before halftime and the game was won.
The fifth goal - maybe the best- late in the game a Nadesan header from Simper’s cross.

Fair enough, I guess he'd need an old head as an assistant if it happens.

Don't know too much about Mike Marsh (other than he used to play for Liverpool), but if he does reasonably well as caretaker, he might be the answer...

He's gone. A big part of Ryan Lowe's rancid regime and we're well rid. Walked out after re-using Lowe's tactics and serving up dross at Swansea.

Paul Heckingbottom looks to be the big favourite right now.

Tough game at York tonight, and a reunion with a couple of last season's players (Sinclair and John), both of whom performed decently for Dale. Other than the veteran John-Lewis, I don't know much about the rest of York's team, but they've had a competent start and deserve respect.

Should be a good game, between two teams looking to establish themselves at the upper end of the table.

Properly did a job on york yesterday. Had to survive a couple of early scares and perhaps lucky the ref bottled a 2nd yellow for Osborne in the first half and then didn't give york a penalty, but we created so many chances it shouldve been 3 or 4 but for their keeper. Their defence looked really shaky and susceptible to balls over the top as they gave us acres of space in behind

Much needed with other sides winning around us and after the bitter disappointment of tamworths 94th minute equaliser in Saturday.

Think it’s far from straightforward. We need to find some consistency, but I think that will come having Norwood back over that balloon Fondop, he’s legit cost us 5pts this season so on another day we could be sitting joint top.

We got battered by Aldershot which I never saw coming, yet Gateshead who are top of the league and always play decent stuff we could and should have stuck 5 past them in 45 minutes.

I think we’ll be up there, but I don’t think there’s a Stockport or Wrexham, or even Chesterfield in this league now.

A very comfortable 3-0 win (which could have been several more) against Woking. Promising, and up to 4th.

FGR looked like a side that will be in the top three this season. As for Sutton, we need more time for this very young side to gel.

Agree, FGR look strong. They have plenty of goals in that squad as well. Of the other frontrunners Gateshead and Barnet have been impressive, whilst under the radar a bit York and Rochdale have started solidly. Eastleigh I'm not sold on despite their good start - I think they'll fade back into the pack pretty quickly from what I've seen.

Very happy with our start to the season, considering we didn't face anyone too challenging in pre-season, only one defeat in seven games...to an injury time goal after we had had a player sent off, to the team that many seem to fancy as potential champions.

Last two games we have conceded a late equaliser, only to go on and score an even later winner...don't think we would have done that too often last season or the one before, more likely gone on to lose.

Our squad isn't the largest but the quality of it is decent, we don't have anyone just warming the bench for the sake of it, we might see a couple more additions but probably not too many.

Easily the worst performance of the season to date. The defence was absolutely awful only matched by our keepers decision making. At one point he was in a right back position! When he then received the ball he put it into touch under no pressure. Also not playing to the whistle. He let their third goal go in without any serious effort to save the shot.

Rochdale have signed CB Liam Hogan on a free from Oldham.

Has a decent track record of promotions (Salford and Stockport) from this league, and with Ethan Ebanks-Landell and. loanee Dan Sassi injured we're down to three fit pure defenders (discounting the wing backs Tobi Adebayo-Rowling, Tarryn Allarakhia and Fin Armstrong). Hope Liam is as useful as his brother was for Dale (and if Scott doesn't get a deal higher up, I suspect he'd be welcomed back )

Rochdale signed ex Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich LB/LWB Matt Penney on non contract basis. Also played on loan at Bradford, Mansfield, St Pauli and Charlton. As a Wednesday fan and fan of Youth football I watched him play since He was 15 years old playing for our U-18 side and can't believe how player of such quality and such potential can drop to this level so quickly ?! Last season He won two 'Player of The Month' awards at Motherwell. Hope He will prove as a brilliant find for Rochdale and will help them back to league football.

Discussion in pub during the FGR v York televised match. Somebody alleged that FGR hold a handful of unique records such as: -

[1] Smallest club to play in Football League

[2] Winning first nine games of the season

[3] Longest consecutive seasons in Conference / National League – 19 seasons

[4] TNL was the highest in altitude in Football League.

[5] League 2 champions FGR are only team to immediately suffer 2 straight relegations.

I don’t know if he is correct but the discussion moved on to fact that for past 4 seasons FGR have played in a different divisions/leagues each season.

We did not know if that was a record although suspect not. BUT with FGR topping table there is half chance they might play 5th season in another different league. That must surely be a record??

Is there anybody on site who can confirm or deny these allegations.

After I posted above question I checked with Wiki and it had the answers (I should have done this 1st – apologies)

There a quite a few English clubs who have had consecutive promotions/relegations although most are down in basement leagues.

These are English clubs who have played in Football League.

Could be wrong but I think WBA had the highest altitude in the football league. Although they'll be blown out of the water for that if Buxton ever get there.

I believe the Hawthorns is at a lofty 168m above mean sea level...The New Lawn, home to my team, came in second place at 163m when we were in the Football League...fingers crossed that it resumes that position next season.

We were indeed members of the Conference/National League for seventeen consecutive seasons.

A stat they might have missed, not sure if it is a record, but we featured in the play-offs five times in seven seasons...between 14/15 and 20/21.
