National League Fixtures 08/10/19

Enjoyed the game last night. Pools played some really nice stuff but had no idea what to do once they got to the edge of our box.

A goal from a set piece and a wonderfully worked 2nd was enough to take the points and end a run of 1 draw and 5 defeats from our last 6 games.

Open game at EP last night, especially first half, could've been 4-4 in the end. Second half closed things up and soaked up pressure more like a classic Gannon side, at least until the subs lost our shape and started inviting chances for those horrible last ten minutes. Absolutely delighted in Tom Walker's performance, he's done more in that no10 role than Osborne and Dimaio all season. Leesley had his first good game in the shirt but is still a makeshift option back there, lucky for us Hartlepool focused down our right hand side instead (that Toure is quality).

if that's the reason a lot of Fylde and Chesterfield fans will want to play and lose to Stockport soon....

The big lad upfront sticks that easy chance in at 2-0 and we're put to bed, first half performance, or lack of, killed us off and left us with far too much to do, Hignett has paid the price for a slow start to the season, anyone fancy a job in which they're likely to be sacked after 18 months? Probably not.

They do what every other team in the league does- they play to their strength. Marcus Carver is quality up front, but he can't do it all by himself.

Indeed, fair play to them. Doesn't make it any less horrible to watch though.
