It's the toughest ground to go to in the WORLD, especially on a Tuesday night.
It's the toughest ground to go to in the WORLD, especially on a Tuesday night.

I remember Barrow bumming Fleetwood 4-0 the season they won the title. They ALWAYS turn it on against the top sides and their feral supporters try to create a rivalry with all Proper Clubs.

Everyone has to go through the Holker St initiation ceremony night where they kill you on set pieces, it all kicks off and you end up with red cards and people scrapping in the stands. It's all detailed in the induction pack Brotherhood members receive.

True. Bloody awful place to go to, though we had a decent record there. Would much rather be beating Accrington 6-1 instead, thats for sure

He's done well when he's played. Came in from East Thurrock United mid way through last season, first as a pro I believe. Playing because of Elokobi's hamstring injury, but he can probably feel a little hard done by that he didn't start the season as first choice. A little bit raw but has the attributes to play further up if he becomes a little more refined. Imo.

Thanks, that more or less backs up my thoughts!

He'll be getting a recommendation. Sorry Orient guys

Based off what I saw tonight I think Chesterfield will comfortably be in the promotion race. Not the best of performances but if you hadn't gone down to 10 it probably would've ended a grounded out 3 points, as following our first I thought we dropped off a bit, but were back on full gas for the last half an hour. Props to the support as well, 307 on a Tuesday night is excellent, especially with Salford on Saturday. Most teams, even some of the bigger ones fail to muster that on a Saturday.

As for the game we had a lot of bite considering we were a smaller side, and over the course of the ninety minutes probably deserved the win. The speed of the Williams' tackle made it look worse and following the red card we had more space and time on the ball and were dominant from then on. A critic could say we were even guilty of trying to over play at some stages. I think we've made some excellent acquisitions from the lower leagues, some, like Hindle we'll probably struggle to hold on to. Early days but there was probably more enjoyment in these last 180 minutes at home than there was through the entirety of last season.

Confidence will be high going into Maidstone on Saturday, after the two recent results.

I'm not convinced, promotion sides don't throw away leads so easy and actually have strikers who can score. Ours strikers have scored 1 goal between them so far - a penalty.

Leave players up so you've got an outlet? Keep the ball when you get it, stay composed, use your keeper? Don't just punt it up where you've got no players so the ball just comes straight back into your shit? There's a few things tbf

Hines stayed up and then that was Shaw's job. I agree about the aimless punting, but that seemed to be your three defenders' only tactic from the first minute. I just think the man advantage gave us so much confidence that any team would have struggled to hang on to the lead.

Yes, we do seem to be long ball merchants this season. I mean if we go up playing like that I don't give a shit, but if we start to get more results like this one... questions need to be asked.

Goodness me we’re gonna be in trouble if we don’t sort this out. Chucking our CB up front 3/4 games is utterly ridiculous. Our best CB in the club is either bench warming or a bit part.
We’re a small club and we’ve done decently based on good organisation, good balance and a couple of quality players in key positions that would make any team in the league.
The league is tougher this year and we’ve got no organisation, zero balance or a player, apart from our keeper Gregory, that any other team would want.
It’s a bit of a shambles down here right now!

Probably our worst performance this season but somehow we managed to score in injury time to level things. Brad (our manager) kept them on the pitch for 5mins at half time reading the riot act. We were better 2nd half but Hartlepool should have been out of sight by then. Our new keeper Ben Killip saved a pen and was probably MOTM for us. Played 10 games for Grimsby last season but they then released him. Our good fortune.

How is Mark Okoye playing up front, he was awesome for us last season and is sorely missed.

Still needs to resign immediately, for his own sake and the club's. Another atrocious post-match interview in which he whined about us not being ready for 3G. We have two 3G pitches at the Hive. Go figure.

He's built a dire squad, built of players he was chummy with at Dagenham and players he presumably rated a few years ago who are now hideously shot like Byron Harrison. There are players arguing on the pitch, leaving opposition players unmarked despite all being behind the ball at free kicks, attendances set to drop below the 1000 mark - this is his mess. It's not a case of a new team being slow to gel, it's a team that looks clueless, hopeless and heading for the NL South unless Still leaves ASAP.

Can we have Cheye back then? You can keep Reynolds.

94TH MINUTE EQUALISER!!

*Cue celebrations*

Offside....

Was quite ironic that you didnt celebrate your first goal thinking it didnt count, then celebrated your equaliser only for it to be chalked off.

We played well for the first hour but once Dagenham scored panic set in and we were lucky to hold on in the end.

Nah Cheye has been fine. Reynolds has been injured, no idea what he's like.

It's the shot experienced EFL players letting us down along with clueless tactics.

Cheye would look so much better if he had someone to pass to. The lack of movement by our team upfield makes it so easy to defend against us.

Anyway onto the game I actually attended today...

Maidenhead 0-2 Wrexham

Looks like Maidenhead will be in serious relegation trouble this year. Harry Pritchard is a huge loss and his replacement Worsfold is not anywhere near his level.

Just like Byron Harrison at Barnet, Maidenhead's biggest let down is an inept carthorse centre forward, in this case Ryan Bird. He looks a terrible signing, despite being 6'4" and built like a tank, he wins few headers, struggles to hold the ball up and looks way off the pace. There's nothing up front and too little technical ability in midfield. New blood needed urgently, but I'm not sure we have the resources. Plenty of players were brought in over the summer but don't look up to scratch.

I don't like praising other teams, but Wrexham look seriously good. Smart tactics to let us have possession knowing that you have the pace and guile to kill a makeshift defence on the counter. I was surprised at how creative and technical Wrexham were, not your typical functional team at this level, although they certainly worked well as a team. Some of the through balls through to the attack were top notch and not often seen at this level.

All the best to a decent Wrexham side who look all set for a strong season and plenty of attractive football in the process.

Absolutely gutting to lose late on after we probably deserved a point. Salford were ok but don’t think they’ll get promoted based off what I saw, their defence looked very shaky. We created a lot of chances including one on ones for Southwell and Kosylo that weren’t taken which was fustrating. Rooney’s clever finishes were the difference. As for the Salford fans, what a joke. Everyone of their fans had left going into injury time. They made zero noise all game and then chanted “you only sign when you’re winning” even though we were never winning at a single point in the game and were thoroughly outsinging them all game. Strange bunch. Also made me laugh when they sang “Salford till I die”. Wonder how many of them were Salford till they’re dead when they were languishing in the 8th tier with no money and 100 fans. We move onto Dagenham at home next which should be a good chance to get back to winning ways.

Same trap we fell into last season. Still got a heap of deadwood in the squad, which will cost us a genuine run at promotion.

I know this ain't gonna be a popular view but I think our coach cost us the points. We were well on top when we got the equaliser and Kosylo was having one of his "special" nights. Salford were rattled and there for the taking, if we'd pushed on for the winner. Fullarton decided to settle for the point, took Kosylo off (why?) and all forward momentum was lost, with the inevitable result that Salford were invited to bring the game to us. A shit soft goal to concede for the winner and Salford fans were asking after the game, "unlucky but what happened to you after you got your goal?". :ffs:

Thought for 80mins tonight we put in a decent enough away performance, we was clinical and looked a threat going forwards with our pace, as well as scrapping well - which you have to do on the artificial surfaces.

Then in the 80th minute Josh Koroma is clearly fouled in the box and that c*** David Rock books him for diving, Maidstone then score and its squeeky bum time for us. We eventually managed to get over the line but IMO it was harder work than it should've been.

Our centre halfs Josh Coulson and Marvin Ekpetita were superb for us, if only they had better protection from our midfield.

Maidstone reminded me a bit of ourselves under Steve Davis 12 months ago, played the ball around well enough but unable to break down 8/9 players behind the ball and create some genuine chances. They also seemed to have a very soft underbelly, our first goal came out of a nothing ball and knockdown and they seem to be conceding alot from set plays as well.

They battled hard and will certainly argue they deserved a draw, but I get the impression Jay Saunders may have stayed too long after he has done such a good job with them.

I completely agree but I’m not gonna criticise Fullarton too much due to the fantastic job he’s done thus far at our club. The thing I’m more angry about tonight is the decision to sign a women beating guiseley reject in Simon Lenighan. I’m in shock about it.

Dover nearly blow it again
Its games like This that make it all worth while , we dominated this game for 80 mins , leading at half time 1-0 , then in 6 shambolic minutes our defence just crumbled, and we're 3-1 down,
working our way back in the game, which turned when we were awarded a penalty, this gave us more urgency to our game, and we came back to lead 4-3 , a squeaky bum moment when they were awarded a free kick deep in to injury time , but the guy ballooned it , welcome to the conference Havant , but any team who has Ed Harris in it will constantly struggle in this league , wasn't good enough on the Conf South for us, and yes, just how beautiful is it to see a side that wasted time from the first minute squirm, when they go behind minutes from time, but god do we need a striker, and soon
up to the Fylde coast on Saturday another 600 miles in a day

Collective sigh of relief at the Rec last night. Both teams a work in progress, some very young raw players on both sides so difficult to judge where we are competitively.Goal given to Rendell, but was very obviously an og; D&R's goal really wierd, seemed to have gone into the net via the side netting. More direct from the Shots, started 4-3-3,shock. Onwards and upwards...

Still gobsmacked we didn't win. Should see Bates' post match interview, looked like he wanted to hang himself.

Again an awful start to the season. Our second halves have been dreadful this season. Did we look unfit? That's the suspicion at our end. That's 4 in a row where we should've been out of sight at half time and put in a sloppy second half showing.

Maguire-Drew is a different class. God knows how we've managed to get him for the season.
Because NL is his level (unless he starts to buck his ideas up). He's way off the required standard to make an impact in the FL.

They bummed us 3-0 in our title winning season, too.
