But for some poor finishing and lucky goalkeeping, could have been a proper thumping. I'd guess that we had over 20 good chances, while our keeper had nowt to do. Hartlepool defence sliced EVERYTHING straight up in the air - number 34 the worst offenders, while Kioso was terrible too.

Anyone who cares, check out Josh Kay's amazing overhead kick. Only on the field 10 seconds, it has to be one of the best first touches ever seen!

You should've won by 4 or 5 easily we were utterly rotten but come on mate, to describe Loach's performance as lucky goalkeeping is very unfair to him, only player of ours that bothered to put a shift in and kept it respectable.

No, Loach made some great saves, but second half there was two or three where he fumbled and scrambled it wide. I meant lucky to get away with a couple of things that looked like ending up in the net.

another win to stop ebbsfleet getting into the play offs
could now finish 12th, not bad from being 15 games in & 7 points.
[still be our worst season since promotion]

We finally won our first home game in almost 6 months - going to walk the NLS next season!!!
With Ebbsfleet & Gateshead both having financial problems and Eastleigh having no money, I'd say there's a decent chance you will still be in this league next season.

Congratulations to Leyton Orient on your return to the football league.
Surely there’s more chance of the Queen showing her arse than Braintree winning at Brisbane rd.
BTW Caprice has been excellent for us this season.

Do you fancy rolling over for us on Saturday? Would mean us not being in thw way of your title challenge next season

It's always the highlight of their season when we come to town.

To be honest, Harrogate was a bigger game.

Good luck getting your second win and finally squaring the 10 games series. :ds:

Oh dear, how sad, never mind. :fl:

I'm going on a onedecentlester-esque hiatus from this forum after that. I'm not sticking around for whatever B2TF has in his locker.

Don't be like that, I love Wrexham, it's just that wanker Master D I can't abide. :ds:

Now Solihull, Wrexham, Fylde et al, it’s up to you to ensure that the Evil don’t win the play-offs...

:msi:That was 95mins of pure hell.

Still 5 goals in it. Going to be a long week.

I don’t trust brother Hartlepool - having said that if we fuck this up it’s our own fault.

Sensible, we could easily be on the end of a buggering, just do your jobs and forget about us!

Two benefits to not losing next week:

1) You are champions

2) You stop Braintree qualifying for the AGM cup

Are the playoffs on the wednesday/Thursday? Or is it Tuesday/Wednesday. Dont know whether we'd be better finishing 4th or 5th now

Super effort Orient, well deserved. It’s a long old slog to come up trumps in this cesspit and it was always going to be a season of ups and downs. Big job on your hands to hold onto Bonne, Koroma etc but think your most important feature this season has been strength in depth - a few additions and you should be more than good enough to be a solid team in L2 next year.

Brisbane Road will be rocking next Saturday!

You should easily beat us.
Most of the players don't give a shit and are just trying to avoid getting injured.

Thats one out of two, if Salford can win the play offs that would be grand.

i'd say today sealed the sack for Alexander at Salford regardless of whether they win play-offs or not in the summer.

to not win the league with a budget of ridiculous proportions not only in the summer, but again mid-season with more signings has to be one of the poorest failings at any level.

dont see them now keeping him regardless of level.

and think his killer blow was when they decided to be cocky and play the reserve side in the trophy to save them all for the league.....got hammered rather than end their bad form and it continued on a few more games.

To be fair to Salford (hear me out), they’ve not flunked promotion just yet. They’ve signed some real quality players, maybe just overloaded the attack a little too much (I mean, Lloyd, Rooney, Gaffney, Green AND Rodney is insane), and they’re favourites for the play offs. Maybe they just needed a bit of proven non-league steel in there as none of their main signings had any experience of it down here, playing on cow fields like Braintree, Havant and Halifax, against cloggers like Sutton and Bromley (they were ridiculous today in a match that meant nothing, I’d hate to see how bad they’d be in a fired up match like vs Salford).

It’s not known as the hardest league to get promoted from for nothing.

I have a feeling their money isn’t going to disappear quite yet so I’d rather them escape this division sharpish to make next year more evenly matched.

With regards to the game itself today, a draw probably about right. Both Keepers played blinders with some commanding performances and both sides missed a few guilt edged headers.

Solihull never really threw the sink at us at the end though, they did seem to run out of steam IMO and we had the better fitness. Still, can see why they've done well. They weren't as dirty as they were at our place as well.

Solihull did fuck up the segregation though, they needed to give us more standing room and well done to the Solihull moron who threw a smoke bomb at our fans delaying the game. Their stewards had no idea how to handle a very rowdy and up for it away crowd, god knows what would've happened if we'd scored.................

Danny lloyd had experience with us in a lower division than this, however I completely agree with your points. Also, I cant see how they can sack Alexander should Salford win the play offs. I dont think that would ever happen

Not really sure how to feel. Obviously in a position most teams would love to be in. Hearing reports like we've won the title but actually haven't. Pub team at home last game of season who have found some form in front of a full house. It would be just so.....very....Leyton Orient wouldn't it. A 5 goal difference which could swing quite quickly and Salford are more than capable of hitting cricket scores. They are playing a brother out of form. Saturday has the potential to be one of those perfect days, or a complete nightmare.....Not quite ready for the champagne yet. Here come the cold sweats again :pond:

It was worse, the final whistle was the highlight of the day.

What I don't get is why Hignett keeps picking the same bloody players. If it's true that they didn't try as he said today's team didn't, then why pick the same failures? Some of them contributed to relegating us out the league and now 2 consecutive non league finishes with a whopping 56 points.

Hopefully today has crossed some names off the retained list he had doubts about but why not rotate the bastard team over the last month? The season was over in November.

They sacked their management team in summer for winning title.

If promoted they will move on and find someone else to move the project onwards
